Abstract

This study aims to identify the potential use of coconut fiber (SSK) as an acoustic material composite that supports the development of environmentally friendly local material-based room partition infrastructure, so the study focuses on analyzing the acoustic properties of SSK composites. This study uses experiments with variations, namely fiber treatment with liquid smoke immersion for 1, 2, and 3 hours. Furthermore, it is heated at a temperature of 40ºC for 30 minutes. Furthermore, SSK-reinforced composite specimens are made by preparing resin and fibers with a fiber length of 10 mm, 70% SSK composition, and molded, then composite acoustic specimens are made. The results of this study obtained environmentally friendly composite materials for soundproof room partitions, where the acoustic properties of SSK-reinforced composites show that the treatment can increase the sound absorption coefficient. So, it can be concluded that SSK-reinforced composite acoustic materials can be used as environmentally friendly room partition materials.

Abstract

Water is an important natural resource for human life, but excessive use can cause a water crisis. This study aims to develop a PDAM water usage monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and an Android application to improve the efficiency of water use in households in Bangka Belitung. This system uses a water flow sensor, LCD, ESP8266, and NodeMCU to display data in real-time on a smartphone. With the designed prototype, users can monitor the volume of water consumed and estimated monthly costs via the internet, as well as access data from the Firebase database. The test results show that the waterflow sensor has good accuracy with an average error of 1% to 6%, and the flow rate remains constant at 0.16 Ls per minute even though the water volume varies. This system not only provides convenience in monitoring water consumption but also has the potential to reduce the operational costs of the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM). This study provides an innovative solution for better water resource management in the Bangka Belitung Community.

Abstract

The State Manufacturing Polytechnic of Bangka Belitung (Polman Babel) faces challenges in managing student and lecturer attendance, especially related to late attendance. This study develops a website-based attendance system to improve the efficiency and accuracy of attendance recording. Using the Waterfall Model method, this system is desained to make it easier for lecturers to record attendance, lateness, and compensation time, and is equipped with a compensation recording feature. The results of the study show that this system can reduce errors in recording and accelerate data recapitulation, with a total user trial skor reaching 72.5%, so it is declared suitable for use. This system also maintains the security of student data and privacy through the appropriate login feature.

Abstract

In vehicles, it is very important for driving safety, therefore a reliable and optimal braking system is needed. This research focuses on reducing the use of asbestos by replacing it with more environmentally friendly materials. In addition, this study also aims to determine the effect of differences in material composition variations and sintering temperatures on the density value and hardness test of the composites produced. The method used to make composites from aluminum is the powder metallurgy method, with the stages of the process of preparing tools and materials, mixing powders, compassing, and sintering. The mixing of aluminum powder, silica sand, rice husk ash and bagasse ash uses a horizontal ball mill machine and uses the parameters of Ball Powder Weight Ratio (BPR) 10:1, machine rotation speed of 90 rpm and milling time of 4 hours. Meanwhile, the heat compaction process uses a two-way method of pressing with a hydraulic pump machine with a pressure reader. The hot composting process is carried out with a temperature of 350°C held for 20 minutes and the pressure variation of the two-way compression used is 600Psi. The results of the density and hardness tests show that the value is increasing with the number of matrices used. The sample with a reinforcement percentage of 12%, the highest density value was 2.498 g/cm3 and the highest hardness value was 73.66 HB.

Abstract

Technology plays a vital role in various industries, including water quality management, as it simplifies complex processes and enhances service quality. However, PDAM Pangkalpinang still uses manual methods to measure water quality. These methods have many drawbacks, such as being time-consuming and prone to human error. Manual measurements also make it difficult for PDAM to quickly detect changes in water quality, increasing the risk of distributing water that does not meet standards. Therefore, improving the effectiveness of water quality monitoring is crucial to ensure a clean water supply that meets health standards. This research aims to develop an automated real-time water quality monitoring system using various sensors: a pH sensor (4502c) to detect acidity and taste levels, a temperature sensor (thermistor), a turbidity sensor (AB209), and a gas odor sensor (MQ-136) to detect specific gas odors. The system utilizes ESP32 and Arduino Nano microcontrollers as processing units, integrated with IoT technology for remote monitoring. Testing results show high accuracy, with average errors of 0.61% for pH, 0.56% for temperature, 1.89% for turbidity, and 0.80% for gas odor detection. The collected data is automatically sent to Firebase and displayed through a web interface and smartphone application, enabling real-time water quality monitoring.

Abstract

Fishing has transformed from a traditional livelihood into an increasingly popular hobby among people, involving various age groups and locations. Fishing rods, as the main tool in the fishing process, function to catch fish by reducing the load and providing lifting power. This study aims to explore the use of resam fiber as an alternative material in making fishing rods, considering the limitations and high costs of graphite rods. The rod manufacturing process uses the Hand lay-up technique, where the resam fiber undergoes alkalization with 5% NaOH for 1, 2, and 3 hours, and variations in the number of fibers of 5, 10, and 15 strands. The results showed that specimens with 15 strands of fiber soaked for 2 hours produced the highest average tensile value of 44.6 MPa and the highest bending value of 57.6 MPa. This study shows the potential of resam fiber as a strong and affordable material for making fishing rods, providing a better alternative to graphite rods available on the market.

Abstract

The machining process in product manufacturing must meet several important criteria, including the product's outcome, accuracy, precision, quality, and quantity. Machine tools that have been used for a long period tend to experience a decline in performance, which can affect the machine's ability to produce products with the required quality, standard, or tolerance. The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of a lathe machine that has been in use for approximately 10 years. As the machine ages, its performance may decrease, and optimal machine performance significantly influences the machining results. Therefore, an experiment was conducted to test the roundness deviation of the products produced through turning, by varying the spindle speed and depth of cut parameters, while keeping the feed rate constant. This study uses an experimental method to test and analyze machine performance based on the measurement of roundness deviations of the products. The material used was ST-41 steel with a diameter of Ø30 x 110 mm, and the cutting tool used was a Carbide Insert WNMG080404-TSF T9225G. Data on roundness was collected from products produced using the Bemato Series 44378 lathe machine with 9 test samples. Based on the test results, the highest roundness deviation found in BU 27 was 0.088 mm

Abstract

Mathematics learning is often considered difficult by elementary school students, which has an impact on their low interest and learning achievement. To overcome this problem, an Android-based educational game called "Math Whizzer" was developed to increase students' interest and understanding in learning mathematics. The development of this application uses the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, which consists of four main stages. In the first stage, observations and interviews were conducted with teachers at UPTD SDN 08 Pemali, which revealed that monotonous learning methods made it difficult for students to understand the material. The second stage, system design, involved the use of Blender and Canva applications to design attractive interfaces and visual elements. The third stage, development, was carried out by building the application using Unity. The final stage, implementation, involved testing the application at UPTD SDN 08 Pemali. The test results showed that this application was very feasible to use in mathematics learning, with a percentage of eligibility from teachers of 97,1% and students of 92,4%. Testing by media and material experts showed that the application features functioned well, and the material was presented clearly and effectively. This application also improves students' understanding and interest in mathematics, as evidenced by the increase in the average posttest score to 82,3 compared to the previous pretest score of 51,3.

Abstract

Traffic congestion is a common issue on disorganized roads. This research designs a traffic sign control system based on the Internet of Things (IoT), utilizing solar energy as the main power source and featuring a portable design for easy relocation according to road requirements. The system employs NodeMCU and Arduino UNO R3 as microcontrollers and uses a battery to store energy from the solar cell. Based on calculations, a 5Ah 12-Volt battery with a power output of 30 Watts requires 9 hours to discharge, while recharging the battery with a 13.2-Volt current takes 8 hours.

Abstract

The 3D printer filament extruder is a machine used to melt and extrude filament for 3D printing processes. Thermoplastics are one type of plastic commonly used in filament production due to their durability, strength, and easy to shape, making them a preferred material for filament manufacturing. Filament is produced through an extrusion process using a machine equipped with a high-temperature heating system to shape the filament. The aim of this research is to design, construct, and test a 3D printing filament extruder to produce filament. This research produces a 3d printing filament extruder machine with a vertical position that uses a DC motor as a driving mechanism, while chains and sprockets are used to reduce rotation and increase rotational torque. Based on the results of the trials conducted, the barrel temperature of 250°C and the screw rotation speed of 5 RPM which produces a filament diameter that is close to the standard for filament use with an average filament diameter of 1.97 mm.
