Abstract

Cocopeat, a processed coconut fiber product, holds significant potential as an environmentally friendly growing medium, particularly for hydroponic and horticultural agriculture. Increasing awareness of sustainable agriculture and the need for efficient alternative growing media underscore the urgency of this research, given the limited comprehensive studies on Cocopeat business development strategies at the local level. This study aims to analyze local resource-based Cocopeat business development strategies through the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach and SWOT analysis. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through literature studies and distributing questionnaires to 62 respondents from the segment of housewives and employees aged 25-40 years. Qualitative data from questionnaires and literature studies were then analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis techniques to identify key patterns and insights. The research results indicate that the majority of respondents have a good understanding of the functions and benefits of Cocopeat and show high purchasing interest. The recommended business strategy focuses on optimizing distribution through digital channels and forming strategic local partnerships, with a strong emphasis on sustainability values and product quality assurance. These findings contribute to the development of sustainable agriculture-based entrepreneurship relevant to urban farming trends. Practically, this research can serve as a guide for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and startups in designing effective Cocopeat business models, and can provide input for local governments in formulating policies that support innovative and environmentally friendly local agricultural industries.

Abstract

This study examines the multidimensional dynamics of extreme poverty alleviation in Padangsidimpuan City, Indonesia, within the framework of Islamic economics. The Sustainable Livelihood Framework (SLF) approach is used as the analytical framework, with Amartya Sen's Capability Approach Theory as the theoretical basis. This study aims to understand how social, institutional, economic, and spiritual capital interact in shaping community resilience and access to basic welfare. The method used is qualitative-empirical with data collection through semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, such as local government officials, religious leaders, zakat management institutions, and poor households. The analysis was conducted using a thematic content analysis approach. The results of the study show that poverty in Padangsidimpuan is exacerbated by structural limitations, such as limited access to productive assets, weak institutional coordination, and a fragile social protection system. However, the integration of Islamic philanthropic instruments such as zakat, infaq, and waqf into poverty alleviation programs, especially through community-based empowerment models, can significantly increase the economic capability and dignity of beneficiaries. This study emphasizes the importance of value-based governance and synergy between state institutions and religious institutions in addressing extreme poverty sustainably. Scientifically, this study contributes to the development of literature by offering a contextual poverty alleviation model rooted in Islamic economic values, local wisdom, and participatory development paradigms. Practically, this study provides policy recommendations for integrating religious-based economic interventions into the national poverty alleviation framework. These findings provide applicable insights for policymakers and development practitioners in formulating culturally relevant and structurally effective strategies to eradicate extreme poverty.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the roles of social, spiritual, and financial capital in shaping the entrepreneurial interest of Islamic Economics students. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and a case study method, the study involved 15 students from three Islamic higher education institutions in Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation, and analyzed using thematic techniques. The findings reveal that social capital—including networks, trust, and social norms—plays a significant role in enhancing students’ entrepreneurial confidence. Spiritual capital strengthens internal motivation and Islamic value orientation in business practices, while financial capital supports readiness by improving financial literacy and access to sharia-compliant financing. The integration of these three forms of capital creates a holistic and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem among students. The findings recommend strengthening value-based entrepreneurship programs, skills development, and access to Islamic financial resources within Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

Village Fund Management (VFM) is an initiative aimed at reducing development disparities between villages, particularly in improving community welfare. In this context, transparency from village officials to the public is essential. Based on this background, this study aims to analyze how the management of Village Funds in Sumber Kramat Village can positively impact the improvement of community welfare and to identify factors that influence the effectiveness of Village Fund utilization. Furthermore, this research focuses on Village Fund management that actively involves the community, with the goal of providing recommendations for a more transparent, efficient, and sustainable Village Fund management system. This study employs a qualitative approach or field study method. The results indicate that the management of Village Funds for health programs in Sumber Kramat Village has had a positive impact on the quality of life of the community, particularly through the establishment of the Polindes (village clinic), Posyandu (integrated health service post) programs, maternal health counseling, and adolescent induction programs. These programs have improved access to basic health services, maternal and child health, and raised community awareness of healthy lifestyles. The empowerment of health cadres has strengthened community independence in maintaining their health. Although youth participation in some programs remains low, the management of Village Funds has successfully reduced transportation and medical costs while enhancing community productivity. This effective management in the health sector can serve as a model for other villages to improve community welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of the Islamic economic system in the context of the modern global economy, as well as to identify the challenges and opportunities faced in the integration of Islamic economic principles with the capitalist system. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis of relevant literature, including books, articles, and research reports related to Islamic economics, zakat, Islamic banking, and fintech. The results of the study indicate that although Islamic economic principles, such as the prohibition of usury, avoidance of maisir and gharar, and redistribution of wealth through zakat, offer solutions to social inequality, the main challenge lies in integration with the global market dominated by capitalism. However, the Islamic banking sector and sharia-based fintech show great potential in expanding financial access and improving social welfare, providing opportunities for the development of a more inclusive and sustainable Islamic economic system.

Abstract

The advancement of technology and the growing public demand for appearance have significantly boosted the cosmetic industry's growth. However, this trend is often exploited by irresponsible business actors who manufacture and market cosmetics containing harmful substances, thereby posing serious risks to consumers. This study aims to examine the legal protection for consumers and the responsibility of business actors in the circulation of hazardous cosmetic products. The research method used is normative juridical, focusing on statutory regulations and legal doctrines. The findings reveal that consumer protection is regulated under Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection, Law Number 36 of 2009 on Health, as well as technical regulations issued by the BPOM and the Ministry of Health. Consumers are entitled to safety and security, while business actors are obligated to ensure product quality and provide compensation for damages caused. This responsibility includes administrative, civil, and criminal aspects, and is upheld even without proven fault (strict liability). Effective law enforcement, government supervision, and increased public legal awareness are essential to achieving optimal consumer protection in the cosmetic industry

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Islamic economic thought of Baqir Al-Shadr, with a particular focus on the distinction between conventional economics and Islamic economics, as well as his concepts of ownership, wealth distribution, production, and consumption. Employing a qualitative approach through a structured literature review, the research examines Baqir Al-Shadr's seminal works, Iqtishaduna and Falsafatuna, alongside relevant secondary literature on Islamic economics. The findings reveal that Baqir Al-Shadr firmly differentiates Islamic economics from conventional economics by grounding it in moral, ethical, and social justice principles derived from Islamic teachings. He advocates for a balanced system where the state plays an active role in ensuring equitable wealth distribution and production that prioritizes public welfare. Furthermore, his views on ownership emphasize limited private rights and promote the management of resources for collective benefit. These insights contribute to the theoretical development of Islamic economics and highlight its potential as a viable alternative for establishing a more just and sustainable global economic order.
