Abstract

The misconception is the most topic in chemistry learning that is important to analyze. There are many advantages for lecturers and students to know about misconceptions. This research aims to describe misconceptions in general chemistry courses, especially intermolecular forces (IMFs) topic. The two-tier multiple-choice tests have played an important role in helping researchers determine students level of understanding and in identifying specific misconceptions. The project used a convenience sample of 88 students (76 female and 12 male) chemistry education program that studied IMFs as participants. Misconception knew from the tests second tier, which is the students reason for the answer. Surprisingly, 29 misconceptions were acquired from the test about IMFs concepts. This needs to be a special concern for lecturers of basic chemistry courses in order to evaluate the learning process that has been carried out. Students misconceptions in basic chemistry courses will have an impact on organic chemistry courses because the concept of intermolecular forces will be studied in depth in organic chemistry courses. The success of students in organic chemistry courses is highly dependent on the initial knowledge of students, especially in basic chemistry courses

Abstract

One of the efforts to improve the quality of education carried out by the Indonesian government is the implementation of the 2013 curriculum revision. The revised K-13 learning is expected to form students' critical thinking patterns in solving the problems. One of the components required is scientific literacy. In the learning process observed during the needs analysis at SMAN 1 Lubuk Alung, scientific literacy has not been fully integrated into learning. Moreover, the practicum KIT contained in the school laboratory is complete, but it rarely used by teachers in learning. The purpose of this research was to determine the validity of the scientific literacy integrated student worksheet for the use of practicum KIT in temperature and heat. Research and development (RD) was used the Sugiyono model. Sugiyono's RD research model consisted of 10 stages, but in this study, it was limited to the design revision stage. The data analysis technique used was validity analysis. Based on the result, scientific literacy integrated worksheets for the use of physics practicum KIT in temperature and heat had produced. The product had an average value of 0,93 with a very valid category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the scientific literacy integrated worksheets for the use of physics practicum KIT in temperature and heat developed were very valid. This scientific literacy integrated worksheet is expected to be useful for students and teachers in the learning process, especially learning in the laboratory

Abstract

The bacteria found in the rhizosphere are called plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), namely bacteria that can stimulate plant growth by producing growth hormones, one of which is the hormone indole acetic acid (IAA) which plays a role in regulating plant growth and development. Five isolates of rhizosphere bacteria were isolated on frangipani roots (P26, P31, P36, P37 and P38). Previous research showed that five bacterial isolates were capable of producing the hormone IAA. However, evidence of its potential as a PGPR has not been obtained. Therefore, the aim of this study was to test the effect of inoculation of rhizosphere bacteria on maize plants. The research method uses a quantitative experimental method, namely 15 repetitions for each treatment. Data collection was carried out 1 day after planting (HTS) until the 14th day. Data were analyzed using a 95% confidence student t-test or with a significance level of 5% (a=0.05). This inoculation begins with germinating maize seeds and observing the roots. The germinated maize seeds are then soaked in the bacterial suspension for one hour at room temperature. The results showed that inoculation with isolates P36, P37 and P38 significantly increased the height of maize plants, while isolate P37 significantly increased the number of leaves and root length of corn plants, isolate P38 could significantly increase the number of roots of corn plants. Thus, these results support the evidence that rhizosphere bacteria from frangipani have an effect on increasing the growth of maize plants

Abstract

Effective communication and creative thinking are soft skills that are very necessary in the 21st century. Character is a set of traits which means personality and morals. This research aims to describe the analysis of needs for designing instruments for assessing effective communication and creative thinking for Aceh vocational school students in carrying out assessments of effective communication and creative thinking. Data was obtained from a questionnaire of 65 Aceh Vocational School students. The sample used was 65 Aceh vocational school students. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to the entire sample. Data were analyzed using the social sciences statistical package version 25.0 for frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The research results show the need to study effective communication and creative thinking as a reference in preparing students to enter the world of work and industry. This is done because so far there has been no assessment of effective communication and creative thinking because there are no instruments, so it cannot be concluded whether students who have completed vocational education so far have done well or not in meeting government and industry expectations. The character of effective communication and creative thinking is an important and necessary consideration in the industrial world known as atitut. On this basis, it can be concluded that it is necessary to design an instrument to assess the character of effective communication and creative thinking
