Abstract

Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is a pneumonia outbreak that has been worldwide to date. This outbreak was caused by a Coronavirus originating from Hubei province that first occurred in Wuhan in December 2019. COVID-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2. SARS-CoV-2 which causes corona has important proteins that are used to infect and replicate, one of which is the main protease protein (Mpro). Red ginger (Zingiber officinale var.Rubrum) is one of the spices that has properties to cure various diseases such as flu, cough and diarrhea. Ginger contains compounds that are antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to examine the potential biological activity of red ginger compounds, namely Gingerol 10, Shogaol 6, and Shogaol 8 as inhibitors of the main protease (MPro) protein activity of SARS-CoV-2. This research was conducted using the In Silico method and AutoDock Vina software was used for the tethering process. The results of gridbox optimization by redocking control ligands obtained RMSD results of 1,100 Å. The results of the tethering showed Gibbs free energy (ΔG) Test Ligand 1 (-5.5 kcal/mol), Test Ligand 2 (-6.0 kcal/mol), and Test Ligand 3 (-5.6 kcal/mol) which showed red ginger compounds have potential as inhibitor of the main protease (MPro) protein activity of SARS-CoV-2.

Abstract

The quality of the evaluation instrument describes the quality of learning in schools. Teachers must be able to plan good evaluation instruments. The quality of the evaluation instrument can be assessed from three aspects, including the stimulus, the cognitive dimension, and the characteristics of higher thinking skills (HOTS). This study aims to analyze the teacher's science subject evaluation instrument based on the form of stimulus, cognitive dimensions, and HOTS characteristics. This research is descriptive quantitative, where the data is presented as a percentage and then described. Qualitative tests on the content of the stimulus are used to group the items into a certain stimulus form. The cognitive process dimension identification sheet was developed based on Bloom's revised taxonomy. The classification of HOTS questions uses the HOTS characteristic identification criteria. The results showed that most of the questions made by the teacher did not have a stimulus, the distribution of the cognitive process dimensions of the questions was uneven, and the questions made were not HOTS. Based on the results of the analysis, it is concluded that the teacher's evaluation instrument was poor

Abstract

Bamboo chips, palm shells, and rice husks waste are environmental pollutants, but have the potential to be processed by pyrolysis to become biochar. Biochar is organic products rich in carbon, high in micro pores and very suitable for amending degraded (damaged) lands.  Quality of biohar to be used as a soil amendment is highly dependent on is the raw material (feedstocks) to make biochar itself. The research objective was to find out the most suitable type of biochar to be used as a soil amendment for ex-mining land, so that the growth and production of plants can be optimum. The research has been carried out in the experimental station of the Syiah Kuala University Banda Aceh from August to December 2019 using soil from ex-excavated coal mines of PT. Mifa in West Aceh, Aceh Province.  The plant parameters studied were morphological parameters of plant roots (length, weight, specific root length and ratio of roots to plant shoot), nutrient uptake of N, P, and K planted on ex-mine excavated soil. The study was designed using a non-factorial randomized block design consisting of two observation treatment factors, namely the type of biochar treatment (bamboo, palm shell, rice husk) and the dose of biochar (0, 10, 20 ton ha-1), and repeated 3 times. The observations that were observed included the components of root morphology and nutrient uptake of N, P and K plants. Biochar characteristics were analyzed using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Chemical-physical analyses of soil and plants were based on  the procedure issued by the Soil Research Institute, Bogor. The effect among treatments was carried out by a variance analyses test (ANOVA) and if there was an effect, the honestly difference test (Tuckey-HSD) was continued at the level of 0.05. The results showed that the type of biochar had a significant effect on root morphology and nutrient uptake of N, P and K plants. Application biochar of rice husk with the amount of 20 tons ha-1 showed the best treatment for all the parameters studied, this is because nitrogen content in rice husk biochar contribute to growing corn crop. This study also found that bamboo biochar and palm  shells gave a negative response when the amount of administration was increased to 20 tonnes ha-1 except for rice husk biochar.

Abstract

Descriptive research on the study of the scientific literacy profile of students and their learning at SMP Kota Banda Aceh, aims to examine the extent to which aspects of scientific literacy according to PISA 2018 are internalized in the junior high school science learning process. In addition, this study also examines its impact on students' scientific literacy. Research data to reveal the emergence of aspects of scientific literacy in planning learning, implementation of learning, and evaluation of learning for junior high school students in Banda Aceh on science subjects. collected through an instrument that refers to the 2015 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) framework. The data collection technique was carried out through observation, surveys, and content analysis. The research participants involved 9 junior high schools from 9 sub-districts throughout the city of Banda Aceh, each sub-district selected 1 school. The total participants involved were 135 students. The results showed that for the Planning component, the Knowledge Aspect was presented at the largest 35.9% but the aspect that was dominated by the competence aspect for indicators explained the phenomenon scientifically. In the Implementation component, the largest 44.8% of the Knowledge Aspect is presented and it is also dominated by the knowledge aspect for the epistemic knowledge indicator. In the Evaluation component, the Context Aspect is presented at 41.2% which is dominated by the competence aspect for indicators of interpreting scientific data and evidence. The scientific literacy profile in answering the 2015 PISA questions only 1.48% of students were able to answer up to level 2. This shows that the scientific literacy profile of Banda Aceh Junior High School students is still relatively low. The practice of learning science does not contribute much to the achievement of scientific literacy for junior high school students in Banda Aceh
