Abstract

This classroom action research (CAR) aimed to enhance children's language development through role-playing at Mutiara Hati Kindergarten in Solok Selatan. Language skills are crucial for early childhood communication, cognition, and socialization, yet many schools prioritize literacy and numeracy over holistic development. The study involved 10 children and one teacher across two cycles, using observation (based on Indonesian Ministry of Education benchmarks) and documentation. Results showed significant improvement: while Cycle I saw most children at "Beginning to Develop" (MB) or "Developing as Expected" (BSH), Cycle II achieved 75% in BSH or "Very Well Developed" (BSB), aligning with Vygotsky’s and Bruner’s theories on social interaction and contextual learning. The findings confirm role-playing as an effective method, with recommendations for thematic variety, teacher scaffolding, and parental involvement. Further research could integrate storytelling or multimedia for optimal outcomes.

Abstract

This research examines the ethical and legal framework for addressing student smoking in Indonesia, highlighting the roles of education and family. Influencing factors include internal aspects like curiosity and peer pressure, as well as external elements such as easy cigarette access and aggressive marketing. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and literature study, data were analyzed through content analysis to explore themes of smoking behavior, educational ethics, family responsibility, and tobacco regulation. The research draws on moral education theory and legal perspectives on tobacco control. Findings indicate that integrating moral education into school curricula increases student awareness of smoking risks. Likewise, positive parental role modeling and communication influence children’s attitudes toward smoking. Legally, strict enforcement of sales bans to minors and regulation of tobacco advertising are vital. The study concludes that combating student smoking requires collaboration among government, schools, and families. A holistic approach combining ethical education with legal enforcement is key to cultivating a smoke-free younger generation.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of effective corporate governance mechanisms on the financial performance of manufacturing firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023. Using a quantitative approach, four governance indicators—independent commissioners, audit committees, managerial ownership, and institutional ownership—were analyzed against financial performance measured by Return on Assets (ROA). Data from 21 firms in the consumer goods sector were selected through purposive sampling and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that independent commissioners, audit committees, and institutional ownership positively and significantly influence financial performance. In contrast, managerial ownership shows a significant but negative relationship. The model's adjusted R² value of 0.928 indicates strong explanatory power. These results underscore the crucial role of sound governance structures in enhancing transparency, oversight, and accountability, leading to improved financial outcomes. The study recommends strengthening the functions of independent commissioners and audit committees, encouraging institutional investor involvement, and closely monitoring managerial ownership levels. Future research should explore additional governance variables and broader industry contexts for deeper insights.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of food security on the welfare of members of the Pasir Jaya Cooperative, a rural cooperative located in Pasir Luhur Village, Rokan Hulu Regency. Grounded in the collectivist principles embedded in Indonesia’s constitutional and legal frameworks, cooperatives are positioned not only as economic entities but also as agents of social welfare. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving 13 key informants. The results reveal that the Pasir Jaya Cooperative plays a significant role in enhancing member welfare by providing access to affordable and stable food supplies. However, several challenges hinder its effectiveness, including limited product availability, slow capital turnover due to installment-based payments, lack of product variety, and inadequate inventory management. These limitations affect both member satisfaction and the cooperative’s ability to sustainably manage food distribution. The study highlights the need for strategic improvements, particularly in the areas of technology-based inventory systems, alternative funding strategies, product diversification, and cooperative education. The findings underscore the strategic relevance of food security as a pathway to improve member welfare and suggest practical measures to strengthen the role of cooperatives in rural economic development.

Abstract

This study investigates optimizing human resource management (HRM) strategies to strengthen food security programs through localized institutional efforts, focusing on the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) Sumber Rezeki in Kota Raya Village, Rokan Hulu Regency. Despite Indonesia's abundant natural resources, rural areas face systemic socio-economic challenges that hinder food security initiatives. This research applies a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. Internal and external factor evaluations were conducted using IFAS and EFAS matrices and a SWOT analysis to identify strategic priorities. Results indicate that BUMDes Sumber Rezeki holds moderate internal strength (IFAS score: 2.78) and faces a balanced external environment (EFAS score: 2.78), positioning it within the Growth Strategy quadrant. Key strengths include funding capacity, community engagement, and access to training. Strategic recommendations involve intensifying HR development, enhancing administrative systems, and fostering transparent governance to leverage external collaborations. Addressing internal weaknesses and mitigating external threats such as climate change and limited budgets is essential for building a resilient and sustainable rural food security model. The findings contribute to the discourse on micro-institutional HRM strategies and their role in advancing food security in developing contexts.

Abstract

The discourse on women’s leadership in the family has gained increasing scholarly attention, particularly in the context of gender equality and social transformation. In patriarchal societies, the role of family head has traditionally been ascribed to men, often marginalizing women’s contributions. However, as Musdah Mulia exemplifies, modern Islamic thought challenges these conventional gender roles. This study analyzes Musdah Mulia’s thoughts and interpretative methods regarding women as heads of families. Through a hermeneutic-contextual approach and thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhu’i), Musdah Mulia argues that the concept of qiwāmah in QS. Al-Nisa: 34 should be understood as a flexible, context-dependent construct rather than an absolute principle of male superiority. Her reinterpretation highlights the necessity of education, economic access, and shared responsibility within family leadership. The findings suggest that Musdah Mulia’s reinterpretation of women’s leadership as heads of families contributes to a more egalitarian understanding of gender roles, challenging patriarchal norms and advocating for policy changes supporting women’s empowerment. However, resistance from traditionalist perspectives and cultural biases remains a significant obstacle. This study recommends further research on the practical implications of Musdah Mulia’s reinterpretation, particularly in legal and policy frameworks related to Islamic family law.

Abstract

In the era of bureaucratic reform and digital transformation, optimizing civil servant performance is critical for public sector effectiveness. This study examines the influence of work discipline, organizational culture, and internal communication on employee performance at the Regional Manpower and Transmigration Office of Yogyakarta (Disnakertrans DIY), Indonesia. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected via Likert-scale questionnaires from 77 civil servants. Validity and reliability tests (Pearson Correlation, Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.60) ensured instrument robustness. Multiple linear regression analysis (SPSS 26) revealed that all three variables significantly enhance performance, both individually and collectively (p < 0.05). Organizational culture exhibited the strongest impact (β = 0.483), followed by work discipline (β = 0.254) and internal communication (β = 0.241). The F-test confirmed their synergistic effect (F-statistic = 110.394, p = 0.000). These findings align with global studies on public sector performance but offer novel empirical evidence from a developing bureaucratic context. The study recommends prioritizing cultural reinforcement, disciplinary compliance, and transparent communication channels to elevate performance. It contributes to public management literature by validating a tri-factor performance model and provides actionable insights for policymakers to align HR strategies with Indonesia’s akhlak values (Civil Servant Core Ethics).

Abstract

Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Qatar, face economic challenges due to their high dependence on oil and gas exports. To address oil price volatility and support the transition to a sustainable economy, they have implemented green investment policies as part of their economic diversification strategy. The study examines the effectiveness of green investment in boosting the growth of non-oil and gas economies through policies such as Saudi Vision 2030, UAE Net Zero 2050, and Qatar National Vision 2030. The results show that green investment has improved the region's economic competitiveness by attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), creating new industrial sectors, and accelerating innovation in renewable energy. Despite this, various challenges are still faced, including limited infrastructure, dependence on imported technology, and resistance from the oil and gas industry. In addition, geopolitical dynamics and fiscal policies that have not been fully supportive are obstacles to the implementation of green investment. The study confirms that green investment has the potential to become a key pillar in the economic diversification of Gulf countries if supported by a more structured strategy, research and development (R&D) capacity building, and incentive policies that encourage private sector involvement and international cooperation.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the European Union's non-tariff trade barriers on Indonesia's crude palm oil (CPO) exports, focusing on the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) and its successor, RED II. Despite palm oil's global competitiveness due to its cost-efficiency, high yield, and multifunctional applications, the EU has increasingly restricted its imports by citing environmental concerns, particularly related to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research analyzes the form and rationale behind EU trade policies, drawing on primary and secondary data, including official government reports, stakeholder interviews, and document analysis. The study finds that RED II and its implementing regulations, such as the Delegated Act 2019, function as de facto trade barriers that significantly constrain Indonesia’s CPO export performance. These measures reflect a policy shift prioritizing sustainability and climate goals, often to the detriment of Indonesian trade interests. The findings underscore the need for Indonesia to strengthen its palm oil diplomacy, enhance the transparency of sustainability certifications, align with international standards, and diversify export destinations. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of international trade dynamics and offers strategic insights for future trade negotiations.
