Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential for geotourism development in the Galunggung Geopark area. Tasikmalaya Regency supports conservation, education, and sustainable economic growth. The research employed a qualitative approach, using literature review methods to examine relevant scientific sources and documents. The results indicate that the Galunggung area has significant geotourism potential through diverse geosites such as Galunggung Crater, Telaga Bodas, and Cipanas Hot Springs, as well as cultural attractions like Kampung Naga. The three main pillars of geopark conservation, education, and community-based economic empowerment can be integrated to strengthen the geopark's tourism value. However, challenges remain in terms of infrastructure and local human resource capacity. Therefore, collaboration among local governments, educational institutions, and local communities is essential to realize Galunggung Geopark as a sustainable and environmentally conscious geotourisn destination.

Abstract

The Bung Hatta Birthplace Museum in Bukittinggi is one of the historical destinations with great potential for history-based educational tourism. As the birthplace of the proclaimer and the first Vice President of Indonesia, this museum keeps educational values about the struggle for independence and Bung Hatta's national thinking. This research aims to identify the potential, challenges, and educational tourism management strategies at the museum. This research starts from the theory of Eduwisata from Wearing and Neil, who view eduwisata as a tourism activity that is specifically designed to provide a learning experience or a real, authentic, and meaningful learning experience for tourists, which provides interaction between tourists and the social, cultural, and natural environment, or tourist attractions that are visited. The method used is qualitative, based on direct observation, interviews with managers and visitors, documentation studies, and library studies. The research results show that the museum has fulfilled its educational function, but its management and information delivery remain conventional, so it has not optimally attracted the younger generation. Recommended strategies include increased promotion, strengthening interaction-based educational programs, utilizing digital technologies such as audiovisual and Augmented Reality, and cooperation with educational institutions. The implementation of this strategy is expected to be able to make the museum a superior educational tourist destination that plays a role in preserving history and cultivating national values.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of tourism components in the Srikeminut, Kebonagung, and Wukirsari tourist villages in Imogiri District based on the 6A component approach (attraction, accessibility, amenities, accommodation, activity, and ancillary services) of tourism. The three tourist villages are within the same Imogiri area and have unique tourist potential, offering opportunities to be developed as sustainable tourist villages. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to gain an in-depth understanding of real conditions in the field, employing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews with tourism village managers and visitors, documentation, field observations, and literature review. Data validity is ensured using triangulation techniques. The results show that the three tourist villages have applied the 6A components with different characteristics, the main features of which lie in the attraction and tourism activities based on local potential and community participation. However, there are still several aspects such as accessibility, supporting facilities, and institutional strengthening that require improvement. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the development of other tourism villages in Indonesia to be more prepared and competitive in the global tourism industry.

Abstract

The active involvement of local communities is essential to the planning and development of tourism, especially in transforming rural areas into tourism villages rooted in local wisdom, a key element of sustainable tourism in Indonesia. This study employs a qualitative research approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that one of the main challenges faced by the local community is that those not directly involved in tourism development do not significantly feel the benefits. Additionally, limited human resources in digital promotion and English language skills hinder the development of Pampang Tourism Village. The development of Pampang Tourism Village requires efforts to improve community capacity through digital promotion training and English language education, broader community participation, enhanced product quality and marketing of local crafts, and improvements in facilities and the creation of more attractive tourism packages to increase the village’s competitiveness and sustainability. Future researchers are encouraged to explore strategies for training and capacity building in digital promotion, cross-cultural communication (especially English), and tourism business management.

Abstract

Sustainable and inclusive tourism represents a key policy direction in Indonesia's national development agenda, aiming to balance economic growth with environmental preservation and social equity. This study explores policy strategies that promote sustainable and inclusive tourism development through a qualitative approach, combining case studies and literature review. Case studies were conducted on two destinations: Nglanggeran Tourism Village in Yogyakarta and Komodo National Park in East Nusa Tenggara, both of which exemplify effective integration of sustainability principles. The literature review examined relevant theories, policy frameworks, and best practices from scholarly sources and official documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify key themes and strategic patterns. The findings reveal that effective policy strategies emphasize community empowerment, multi-stakeholder collaboration, local resource-based planning, and institutional strengthening. The study recommends adaptive and participatory policy frameworks that embed local contexts and community roles at the core of sustainable tourism development in Indonesia. Keywords: sustainable tourism, inclusive development, tourism policy

Abstract

Abstract

This study is motivated by the substantial natural, geological, and social potential of the Gunung Galunggung area, which has not yet been fully developed as a sustainable ecotourism destination. The site offers various attractions, including its scenic crater panorama, natural hot springs, iconic stairway routes, and the involvement of local communities that has the potential to enhance local welfare. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection comprising field observations, interviews with visitors, and document analysis. The data were analyzed through processes of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to describe the conditions of tourist attractions, supporting facilities, and socio-economic impacts. The findings indicate that Gunung Galunggung has strong natural and educational appeal, with reasonable accessibility, though several facilities still need improvement. Visitors perceive local hospitality as a positive aspect, while tourism activities contribute to the local economy. The main challenges include limited facilities, insufficient digital promotion, and low environmental awareness among some visitors. Overall, Gunung Galunggung has substantial potential to be developed as a sustainable ecotourism destination through improved infrastructure, environmental education, digital promotion, and active involvement of local communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of walking tours as an interpretation medium in integrating local and colonial cultural heritage in Palembang. The research method uses a qualitative approach through the implementation of a walking tour attended by ten Tourism students. The route includes Talang Keranggo Cemetery, Ki Ronggo Wiransentiko Cemetery, colonial buildings along Talang Semut, and ends at Kambang Iwak. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and visual documentation. Data were analyzed thematically using an interpretive approach. The results show that the walking tour not only strengthened participants’ understanding of the historical value of each site but also created an integrative narrative between local and colonial heritage. Participants were able to identify symbolic and functional relationships between the sites within the context of Palembang’s urban development. The walking tour proved effective as an interactive, contextual medium for heritage education. It is concluded that this approach can be developed as an experience-based heritage interpretation model. Suggestions for further research include developing routes that integrate augmented reality to enhance interpretive experiences.

Abstract

Sharia tourism is a growing global market segment in line with the increasing demand of Muslim tourists for destinations that guarantee halal aspects, comfort, and safety in accordance with Sharia principles. Tourism villages have strategic potential to be developed as Sharia tourism destinations based on local potential. This study aims to explore the concept of Halal-Friendly and identify the unique potential of villages that can be optimized within the framework of Sharia and Maqashid Sharia. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. Data were obtained from scientific literature, government regulations, and official reports, then analyzed using qualitative content analysis and conceptual analysis. The results show that the implementation of Halal-Friendly in tourism villages must be carried out comprehensively through three main pillars: accommodation, consumption, and activities. The accommodation pillar covers cleanliness, privacy, and worship facilities; the consumption pillar emphasizes the guarantee of halal and thayyib in local MSME products while the activity pillar focuses on guidelines for social ethics in accordance with Sharia. Furthermore, the village's unique potential in the form of local wisdom, natural landscapes, and creative economy can become a major competitive advantage when reinforced by the principles of Hifz al-Din and Hifz al-Nafs. This integration positions the Sharia Tourism Village as a sustainable spiritual well-being destination.
