Abstract

The Integrated Islamic School (Sekolah Islam Terpadu) is known for its rapid development trend in the last decade. The development of the integrated Islamic School runs with the growth of interest to a pure Islamic Education. Appearing as an Islamic institution integrating both religious and secular knowledge, the Integrated Islamic School is able to master the market among the Muslim population. This article aims to scrutinize the characteristics and strategies of the school to expand amid the competitive Indonesian education market through human resource supervision. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the characteristics and strategies of the integrated Islamic School-based human resource supervision encompass political stability, strong Islamic symbols, Islamic personal development programs, inclusive scholarships, and incorporating Islamic populism. These characteristics and strategies attribute the integrated Islamic school as modern, advanced yet religious. In addition, the schools are exclusive in recruiting teachers, pragmatic in using Islamic symbols, and idealistic in the curriculum. Interestingly, this research evokes the integrated Islamic school’s two faces. Internally, it affiliates with an exclusive organization and ideology (Muslim Brotherhood), but simultaneously the school publicly shows inclusive nuances to the society.

The RSD concept has contributed to research-based learning models among students in Australia, both among elementary and tertiary school students. Due to this research framework's success in Australia, we plan to review and see the usefulness of the RSD framework to university students in Indonesia. To facilitate this introduction, we have tried to review several important documents related to this RDS concept, application, evaluation together with rubric assessment. Furthermore, we reported it as a document to the introduction to the research development framework. The results of this document review will be published in one of the higher education academic journals in Indonesia. With the hope that this document will be the forerunner of introduction and development among students, especially those who are completing academic assignments involving research skills for publication purposes to assess academic communication skills. However, many things will challenge this kind of study, something new to the concept of confirmative studies in Indonesia, including several new terms in the research framework that require new understanding notations.

Abstract

This project aimed to review teacher’s leadership learning strategies in improving student learning outcomes since the government sent students home to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The student’s learning success during a pandemic is closely related to understanding and implementing teacher leadership strategies in helping students learn from home. To support teachers in student learning success, we have reviewed literature, especially student learning during school closings. After data collection, we continued in-depth analysis and interpretation with a descriptive qualitative approach. Analysis and interpretation include the competencies to be achieved, learning motivation, teaching materials, mentoring methods, and success evaluation rubrics. After we connected all the elements above with teaching, pedagogy, and understanding of the realities of student learning during the pandemic, we finally succeeded in compiling a strategic formulation of the teacher leadership strategies as follows: 1) spatial learning practice, 2) retrospective approach, 3) practical elaborative learning, 4) collaborative learning, 5) interleaving approach, 6) concrete commitment, 7) multiple coding skills, 8) helpful resources, 9) digital competence, and 10) celebrating every success. These findings are they are valid and reliable. Therefore, the implication of this findings can be a strategy for teachers to back up students learning from home today where teaching still remains in remote settings.

Abstract

Since COVID-19 shocked the world, all business activities experienced an enormous impact, including in the field of education. UNESCO advised the world to ease the pandemic's impact on world education continuity with distance learning policies to overcome this disruption. Since then, pandemic affected countries experienced difficulties implementing that distance learning to respond to the policy. In this regard, this paper was carried out to identify additional instructional leadership competencies for teachers in managing learning in a pandemic. Evidence from the study of education shows that learning in disruption time is closely related to teachers' management in innovating such high technological virtual learning. To find answers, we conducted preliminary readings of the relevant literature. Next, we analyzed that information qualitatively by exploring what teacher instruction management is applicable during the pandemic. Then, we found that additional teaching leadership competencies can be adopted to support students learning in virtual approaches such as reflective opportunities, increasing truth among teachers and students, keeping curiosity habits, building productive communication, initiative habit, and more listening to understand others. Those additional teaching leadership competencies are useful to any party interested in supporting students learning in the pandemic disruption.
