Abstract

The climate, weather, and rainfall conditions that occur in the Meteseh Village, Tembalang District, Semarang City, especially in the Bukit Kencana Jaya area, are quite high during the rainy season. As a result of housing developments that may not consider the problem of drainage properly, some places experience soil erosion. Based on the results of observations at the location, it was shown that there were several points of the water channel that were damaged. This condition can cause blockage or overflow of water when the intensity of rain increases due to disruption of the water channel. If a puddle occurs, it can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes that have the potential to cause disease. It is necessary to repair the water channel to restore its function of the water channel. The implementation method starts with a field survey, then socializes the repair and maintenance of waterways, and direct practice of repairing damaged waterways. The repair was carried out by replacing the base of the canal using a U-40 cm concrete pipe and plastering on the sides so that the water channel would not experience erosion and could function properly again.

Abstract

The Real Work Lecture (KKN) experience carried out in Bumiharjo Village really helped us understand and required us to get involved and participate in society directly without any student frills. We gain new learning and knowledge here by participating directly in the community. The theme of strengthening religion is one of the sub-themes that we raised in our group; this was taken into consideration considering the religiousness of the residents in this village. This is proven by the existence of unique religious activities such as a joint pilgrimage to the village punden grave, which is rarely found in other places. The aim of this activity is to illustrate local wisdom in the form of the punden pilgrimage in Bumiharjo Village and to serve as a learning medium for the younger generation to get to know or recognize ulama figures who have contributed to the spread of Islam in the village. The method used is a qualitative literature review method. The results of the activity show that the people of Bumiharjo Village are still enthusiastic about punden activities and are still preserving the tradition of punden pilgrimage.

Abstract

Education needs to play a role in overcoming environmental problems by forming environmentally literate individuals. Environmentally literate individuals are individuals who are responsible for their behavior, respect the environment, and understand the problems that occur in the environment. Therefore, environmental literacy needs to be instilled and trained from an early age. It is known that students are not aware of various environmental problems, and efforts to preserve the environment, environmental education has not been integrated into classroom learning, and the absence of waste management practices in schools makes students' environmental literacy low. The methods used in PKM include (a) case studies and discussions, and (b) the practice of making compost and using it to fertilize plants. PKM activities begin with contracts and at the end of the activity, an evaluation is carried out to find out the achievements of PKM implementation. PKM activities were carried out in two partner schools namely SD Muhammadiyah 2 Alternative and SD Negeri Keramat 5 Magelang. Participants who are students from the two partner schools have understood environmental issues, and waste management as an effort to preserve the environment, and are skilled in processing organic waste into compost. Participants showed interest and enthusiasm during the PKM activities.

Abstract

Most civil engineering students and construction practitioners experience misconceptions about knowledge and even incorrect practical procedures for using measurement instruments. One of the misconceptions that is often encountered is the meaning of ordinary and extraordinary positions, the meaning of azimuth, the meaning of angles, directions, readings, and many more. Misconceptions in practice include the inaccurate process of centering, leveling, and targeting due to a misunderstanding of the pointing, targeting, and parallax processes. There are also often debates between students because of differences in interpretation of the influence of right or left rotation on horizontal readings or counting angles. On the other hand, the development of measurement and mapping surveys is increasingly rapid. However, measurement principles should not be ignored. These principles are the pillars of knowledge and the pillars of a surveyor's practice, with which fieldwork evaluations and decisions can be taken accurately and responsibly, both academically and practically. The measurement training activity using a water level tool is intended for Civil Engineering students at the Muhammadiyah University of Semarang (UNIMUS) and construction practitioners. This activity aims to improve understanding and skills so that participants can use the spirit level measuring instrument correctly. The method used is the delivery of theory, followed by practice in the field. The results obtained are an increase in participants' abilities in the measurement process and calculating measurement data based on the results of work and direct evaluation in the field.

Abstract

Various types of planting media besides soil have different abilities in carrying out their functions as planting media to support the process of plant growth and development. In the world of agriculture and plantations, we often hear the term polybag as a planting medium, especially in nurseries and planting in polybags to save agricultural land. The choice of polybags as planting containers for cultivation is influenced by several factors, such as low price, rust resistance, durability, lightweight, uniform shape, does not get dirty quickly, and ease to obtain at agricultural supply stores or plastic shops. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide knowledge to the people in Alasdowo Village, Pati Regency regarding how to plant decorative plants using polybag media. The implementation method used is by providing information through discussions and questions and answers as well as direct practice on how to make planting media using polybags. The results obtained from this activity are increasing public knowledge about how to plant decorative plants using polybag media. The community can also take advantage of and use polybag media to fill in the empty land they have by planting decorative plants.
