Abstract

The development of the Islamic banking industry in Jordan has shown steady growth since its inception in 1978, supported by comprehensive regulations and the experienced pioneering financial institutions such as Jordan Islamic Bank. The Islamic banking system in the country offers an alternative financing option rooted in principles of justice, transparency, and prohibition of riba, gharar, and maisir. Although facing challenges such as dominance of conventional banks and low financial literacy among the public, the industry possesses significant opportunities through the development of sukuk instruments, Islamic microfinance, and other innovative Sharia-compliant financial products. Government support, a robust legal framework, and the utilization of digital technology are key factors driving sustainable growth and strengthening the position of the Islamic banking sector in the Middle East region and globally. This study provides an analysis of the industry’s development, regulation, products, as well as the challenges and opportunities faced by the Islamic banking sector in Jordan.

Abstract

The implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) is a fundamental aspect in achieving sustainability and improving company performance amidst the increasingly complex dynamics of the business environment. GCG functions as a set of systems, principles, and mechanisms that regulate and control relationships between stakeholders to create healthy, transparent, and responsible company management. The main principles of GCG, namely transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness, are an important foundation in ensuring that every company activity is carried out in accordance with regulations, business ethics, and the interests of all stakeholders. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the implementation of Good Corporate Governance in supporting company performance and reputation. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design, which allows researchers to gain an in-depth understanding of GCG practices in the real context of the organization. Data were collected through document analysis, observation, and interviews with relevant parties. The results of the study indicate that good GCG implementation can increase stakeholder trust, strengthen the internal control system, and minimize the potential for irregularities such as corruption, collusion, and nepotism. In addition, GCG implementation also contributes to creating more objective and long-term oriented decision-making. The Indonesian economic crisis of 1997–1998 was a crucial turning point in raising awareness of the urgency of implementing good corporate governance. The crisis exposed the weaknesses of corporate oversight and governance systems, thus recognizing GCG as a crucial strategy for building business sustainability and maintaining a company's reputation at the national and global levels.

Abstract

International Islamic banking is a financial system that operates based on the principles of Islamic sharia, which rejects the practices of riba (interest), gharar (uncertainty), and maysir (speculation), and emphasizes the values of justice, transparency, and partnership in every financial transaction. Along with the increasing global awareness of the importance of a stable, fair, and ethical financial system, international Islamic banking has experienced significant development, not only in countries with Muslim majorities, but also in non-Muslim countries. This phenomenon shows that Islamic principles have universal appeal because they offer an alternative financial system that is oriented towards the real sector and based on profit sharing. This study aims to analyze the fundamental principles that underlie the operations of international Islamic banking and evaluate its development and strategic role in the global financial system. The research method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach, through the collection and analysis of various literature sources in the form of books, national and international scientific journals, financial institution reports, and relevant official documents. The study's findings indicate that international Islamic banking plays a crucial role in enhancing the stability of the global financial system, promoting financial inclusion, and supporting sustainable economic growth through partnership-based financing and prudential principles. Furthermore, Islamic banking is considered a potential alternative financial system resilient to crises by avoiding speculative and excessive practices. Therefore, international Islamic banking has promising prospects as an integral part of the global financial system in the future.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze strategies for implementing e-commerce-based digital technology to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian creative industry MSMEs. This research uses a qualitative approach to collect data through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation of creative sector MSME stakeholders. The findings show that e-commerce adoption provides significant opportunities for MSMEs to increase product awareness, expand markets, and compete with large companies. However, the biggest challenge is a lack of understanding in managing and optimizing e-commerce platforms and low digital literacy, especially among older MSMEs. Leveraging analytical data from e-commerce platforms allows MSMEs to understand market trends and consumer preferences, but optimizing the use of these features requires ongoing training. Apart from that, digital collaboration with logistics service providers and influencers has also proven successful in increasing operational efficiency and expanding product marketing. Barriers such as uneven digital infrastructure, slow internet access, and limited funds to invest in technology still exist. Therefore, steps are urgently needed to encourage investment in digital infrastructure and digital skills training programs to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs. This study contributes to understanding the role of e-commerce-based digital technology as a strategy to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs in Indonesia's creative economy.

Abstract

Islamic banking in Indonesia is growing rapidly, but still faces challenges in harmonizing regulations and strengthening governance. At the international level, the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) play a role in providing standards aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and stability of the Islamic financial system. This study aims to analyze the role of AAOIFI and IFSB standards in the development of Islamic banking in Indonesia and identify challenges in their implementation. This study used a literature review method, examining scientific journals, academic books, and official regulatory documents. The results show that Indonesia implements AAOIFI and IFSB standards adaptively by integrating their main principles into national regulations. AAOIFI standards contribute to improving the quality of financial reporting, while IFSB standards strengthen the risk management framework for Islamic banking. However, their implementation remains hampered by differences in legal systems, limited human resources, and the dominance of mandatory national regulations. Therefore, a gradual convergence strategy is considered the most relevant approach to optimizing the role of international standards in the development of Indonesian Islamic banking.

Abstract

Village economic development is a crucial component of national development strategy, aiming to achieve equitable prosperity and village self-sufficiency. Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages grants authority to villages to manage local potential through Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes). This research aims to analyze the role of BUMDes Hendrosari in local economic development as an effort to realize village economic self-sufficiency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach, through the review of academic literature, policy documents, and publications related to BUMDes management. The results show that BUMDes Hendrosari successfully transformed the village's image from an "intoxicating village" to an educational tourism village through the development of Lontar Sewu Edu-Tourism. This strategy not only increased tourist visits but also encouraged the growth of local MSMEs, such as restaurants with typical milkfish dishes and siwalan-based beverages. BUMDes' contribution to village economic self-sufficiency is reflected in increased job opportunities, growth of Village Original Income (PADes), and reduced community dependence on external aid. However, challenges remain, including dependence on a single tourism icon, limitations in human resource capacity, uneven community participation, and competition with other tourist destinations in Gresik. This research affirms that the success of BUMDes Hendrosari depends not only on local potential but also on participatory, innovative, and sustainable governance.

Abstract

Rising inflation impacts the cost of higher education in Indonesia, particularly through increases in the Tuition Fee, living costs, and academic support needs. This situation threatens equitable access to higher education, particularly for low-income communities. This study aims to analyze the impact of education costs on barriers for vulnerable communities to access higher education and examine the effectiveness of the Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) College Program as a government effort to maintain educational equity amidst inflationary pressures. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various journals and policy reports related to the relationship between inflation, education financing, and the implementation of KIP College. The analysis results show that although KIP College is able to ease the burden on students and expand educational participation, challenges still arise in aspects of targeting accuracy, the nominal amount of assistance that has not been adjusted for inflation, and regional equity. Therefore, policy strengthening is needed through periodic adjustments to assistance, digitalization of fund management, and the establishment of affirmative quotas for underdeveloped regions so that KIP College can function more effectively as an instrument of social justice and a driver of human resource development.
