Abstract

The Tret-tet-tet activity in 1987 was an important moment that led to a change in the way football fans in Indonesia viewed their role. It also started the tradition of fans travelling to other cities to watch their home team play. This article exsplains how the Tret-tet-tet activity happened, the role of important people, and how a new cultural identity emerged among Persebaya supporters after the activity. To do this, we used a historical method and historical sources like newspapers, magazines, literary works, and interviews. This study found that the Tret-tet-tet activity occurred because it was inspired by supporters from the West, support for the Persebaya club competing in the 1987 final, mobilization carried out by Jawa Pos, the role of Jawa Pos’s boss Dahlan Iskan, and the new identity of football supporters. The study found that the Tret-tet-tet activity has become a new tradition in the management of supporters in Indonesia based on the support of the mass media and the emergence of a new culture of soccer supporters.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to understand the dynamics of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) in general elections in Gorontalo. The method used is the historical research method, which follows four procedural steps: First, Heuristics, which involves the collection or investigation of historical sources. Second, Verification or Source Criticism, which tests the authenticity and accuracy of sources. Third, Interpretation or Analysis of the findings. Fourth, Historiography, which involves formulating the research results into a scholarly work with high-quality historical writing. The research findings reveal that the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) was established in Gorontalo in 1977 as a result of a party merger. During the New Order era, PDI faced significant limitations, as the government at the time leaned more towards Golkar. As a result, in five consecutive general elections during the New Order in Gorontalo, PDI never emerged as the winning party and consistently ranked third. Despite repeated losses in elections, the party, which carried the Marhaenist ideology, remained resilient. Various efforts were made to strengthen its support base, including direct engagement with the community. This culminated in 1997, following the Kudatuli incident, which led to the formation of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). This event brought significant changes to PDI’s party structure, and in the subsequent elections, PDI emerged as the winning party.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop students' potential to be more sensitive to social issues occurring in society and to foster a positive attitude toward addressing existing inequalities. The research method employed is qualitative. The findings indicate that by observing the learning process in the eighth-grade classroom, it was evident that the learning process was less effective. This was influenced by the teacher's lack of firmness in handling students who frequently caused disturbances in class. Effective learning is closely related to the teacher's ability to manage the classroom optimally so that both students and learning resources can contribute to an effective learning process. The study concludes that the high discrepancy in the ability of social studies teachers in junior high schools to elaborate on the subject competencies is due to their educational background, which is based on specific branches of science.

Abstract

SMA Negeri 1 Tibawa is one of the educational institutions in Gorontalo Regency that offers History as a subject. However, students often feel bored with the material presented, as the narratives of the past are considered less engaging. This condition can impact the learning process, particularly due to students' low motivation to learn. This study focuses on two main aspects: 1) What is the level of students' motivation in learning History at SMA Negeri 1 Tibawa?; 2) What factors influence students' motivation in learning History at this school? The research employed a qualitative approach with a narrative method, and the subjects were purposively selected. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out using the results of students' tests or evaluations. The findings of the study revealed several key points: 1) In the initial sessions, students’ motivation to learn History varied, with some showing low interest and others displaying higher enthusiasm; 2) Students' extrinsic motivation increased through encouragement from teachers, both in the form of verbal support and rewards. Other supporting factors included the availability of facilities, diverse teaching methods, and social interactions with peers, which helped reduce boredom; 3) The implementation of a reward and punishment system proved effective in increasing students' interest in learning. Those who were initially less enthusiastic became more motivated by rewards, while diligent students were further driven to improve their performance to gain recognition from teachers and peers. This appreciation also contributed to students' confidence in completing assignments, enabling teachers to manage the classroom more effectively.
