Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by increased blood glucose levels due to damage to insulin secretion, less effective insulin action or both. There are many complications that arise from diabetes, one of which can cause poor blood circulation in sufferers, especially in the legs, which can later cause peripheral arterial disease (PAD). This study uses a case report approach to evaluate the implementation of nursing for elderly people with diabetes who ex perience PAD with diabetic foot exercise and success is measured by the ankle brachial index (ABI) value. The results of this study showed that there was a change in the patient's ABI value after routinely doing diabetes foot exercises for 2 weeks, the ABI value in the first week was 0.62 (right), 0.68 (left) and in the 2nd week it was 0.68 (right ), 0.82 (left). Diabetic foot exercises are an exercise that can be done by patients suffering from DM or not because the benefits of diabetic foot exercises are to help improve blood circulation in the feet and also prevent injuries.

Abstract

Individuals are authorized to access, maintain, and share their Personal Health Record (PHR), which is an electronic application, in a private, secure, and confidential setting. Using PHR will facilitate patient-provider communication. PHR has two-way communication that allows patients and providers to communicate with each other. The main effect of using PHR is that patients will be involved and take an active role in their health and disease prevention. The act of recording health information in PHR will increase patient awareness, such as weight, diet and glucose, and other health checks. Through PHR which stores health information, and consultations, patients feel safe knowing their health. The purpose of this writing is to determine the Utilization of Personal Health Record in controlling individual health. This study uses the Literature Review method. The results of this study are seen from the utilization and features of the Personal Health Record. Utilization of the Personal Health Record in controlling individual health can assist patients in accessing patient personal health information such as knowing blood sugar, blood pressure, laboratory results, and so on. The features used in the PHR have a main menu including health records, medical records, test results, medication reminders, health contacts, and education.

Abstract

Spinal anesthesia is given to patients undergoing surgery on the abdominal area. Spinal anesthesia can interfere with temperature thermoregulation, thereby inhibiting the compensatory response to temperature, causing shivering. The aim of the research was to determine the incidence of shivering in post-operative patients with spinal anesthesia at the Wijayakusuma Hospital , Purwokerto 2023. This research used a quantitative descriptive research design with a cross sectional design. The sample in this study was 40 post-spinal anesthesia patients using non-probability sampling techniques. Data was obtained from direct observation in the IBS room at the Wijayakusuma Hospital, Purwokerto in April-May 2023. The results showed that 19 people (47.5%) experienced shivering and 21 people (52%) did not experience shivering. .5%), the results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between BMI factors and shivering after spinal anesthesia (p value 0.002 <0.05) where shivering occurs most often in respondents with a thin body mass index (<18.5 kg/m) as many as 9 people (22.5%). Then the results of the analysis also showed that there was no difference between the duration of the operation and shivering after spinal anesthesia (p value 0.768 > 0.05).

Abstract

Hemodialysis is a process of kidney replacement therapy. Decreased muscle strength in patients undergoing hemodialysis is a common problem caused by various factors related to chronic kidney disease and dialysis procedures. One way to treat decreased muscle strength is with intradialytic exercise therapy. Objective: To determine muscle strength after performing intradialytic exercises in hemodialysis patients. Method: The research uses a case study method, namely an individual-targeted nursing care approach. Results: After 3 intradialytic exercise interventions, an increase in muscle strength with handgrip dyanometer measurements of 7.80 and 3.50 was obtained. However, the results of measuring muscle strength using the Schawenker scale method did not show an increase, namely scale 4. Conclusion: Intradilytic exercise carried out in 3 meetings can increase hand muscle strength as measured using a handgrip dynanometer. Intradilytic exercise can be used as an alternative physical exercise during the hemodialysis process.
