Abstract

Oil palms have a lifespan of 25 -30 years, so at the end of the period, the oil palm trunks will be rejuvenated. In rejuvenation activities, the waste produced is around 220 m3 /ha. With the large amount of palm oil stem waste produced, it can be used as raw material for making compost fertilizer. The process of making compost fertilizer from palm oil stem waste is adapted to the process of making compost fertilizer in general. In this research, palm stem compost was also made using additional materials such as goat manure and rice bran. Parameters tested include C/N Ratio, C-Organic, NPK, and water content which were tested for 40 days.

Abstract

CPO and its main product, namely RBD Palm Olein, are commodities that have strategic value to be developed by processing them into derivative products to increase selling value. One product that is widely used and needed by the market today that can be processed from palm oil is Mono-Diacylglycerol (MDAG) emulsifier. This study aims to determine the process of making Mono- Diacylglycerol (MDAG) by glycerolysis reaction using a lipase enzyme catalyst and to determine the best enzyme catalyst concentration.based on the characteristics and quality test of the resulting MDAG products. The stages carried out in this study began with the characterization of raw materials, the synthesis of Mono-Diacylglycerol (MDAG), product purification from catalysts, adsorbents and solvents, and tested the characteristics and quality of the products produced. In this study, the best enzyme catalyst concentration was found in the use of 6% catalyst with MDAG acquisition of 59.8%, ALB content of 0.2%, pH value at number 6, density of 0.95 gr/cm3, surface tension of 18 .65dynes/cm. And the results of the functional group test using FTIR on the resulting MDAG show thatthe functional groups contained in MDAG, namely 3R-COOR'-2OH and 3R-2COOR'-2OH were read on infrared absorption from FTIR at a wavelength of 721.38 cm-1 – 3392.79 cm-1.

Abstract

Livestock businesses have various risk of death including accidents, natural disasters including disease outbreaks, in this regard, then in accordance with Law Number 19 of 2013 concerning Protection and Empowerment of Farmers and Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 40 / Permentan / SR.230 / 7/2015 regarding Agricultural Facilitation Insurance, agricultural insurance is required. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia implements agricultural insurance specifically aimed at the livestock business sector, this is a form of the government's part of it in protecting farmers from the risk of death and / or loss of livestock. cattle business insurance, as well as being able to provide education to breeders in managing risks and a good livestock business system. . This study aims to describe the implementation of cattle business insurance and determine what are the influencing factors in running cattle business insurance. The location selection was carried out by purposive sampling based on insurance program data. Primary data were obtained from 53 farmers with the help of a questionnaire. The basic method used in this research is descriptive method. Factors that influence the insurance program in Kulon Progo district are conditions and adjustment factors. Condition factors consist of extension variables and uncertainty, while adjustment factors consist of uncertainty, environmental risk, and market equilibrium variables.

Abstract

Red Palm Oil (RPO) is one of the edible oil products derived from palm oil that retains its carotene content. Carotene is an important compound for the human body, as it functions as a provitamin A and also acts as a natural antioxidant. The production of RPO involves several stages, one of which is the fractionation process. This process is carried out to separate the liquid fraction (olein) from the solid fraction (stearin). If fractionation is not performed properly, a significant amount of stearin may remain in the RPO, causing the oil to become cloudy or solidify easily at temperatures below 25°C, including at room temperature. To date, literature examining the relationship between fractionation and the quality of RPO remains limited. Therefore, this study was conducted by varying the fractionation temperatures of RPO at 10°C, 15°C, 20°C, and 25°C. The purpose of these variations is to determine the optimal temperature for the fractionation process in order to produce high-quality RPO. The quality parameters of RPO analyzed in this study include: Free fatty acid (FFA) content, Moisture content, Carotenoid level, Iodine value, and Pelican oil.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the knowledge and skills of farmers in cultivating patchouli in Uete Village, Uluiwoi District, East Kolaka Regency. The sample size used in this study is 23 patchouli farmers. The method used to obtain the necessary data and information is a questionnaire (survey) distributed to the respondents. The scoring technique used in the questionnaire is the Likert scale with three measurement levels to assess the knowledge and skills of the farmers. The Likert scale used in this study allows the researcher to evaluate the extent to which farmers possess the knowledge and skills needed in patchouli farming. The collected data was then analyzed using the Rank Spearman statistical technique to examine the relationship between the farmers' knowledge and the skills they possess. This technique was chosen because it can measure the relationship between two variables that do not need to be normally distributed and are related. The results show that the farmers' knowledge in patchouli farming can be categorized as high, with a percentage of 73.91%. This indicates that the majority of farmers have a good understanding of how to cultivate patchouli, including the techniques needed to improve patchouli yields. Furthermore, the farmers' skill level is also categorized as skilled, with a percentage of 73.18%. This means that most farmers have the necessary skills to manage patchouli farming effectively. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the knowledge and skills of farmers in Uete Village, Uluiwoi District, East Kolaka Regency are in the high category. Good knowledge positively impacts farmers' skills in patchouli farming, indicating that increasing knowledge can contribute to improving skills. Therefore, the development of better training and education for farmers is crucial to enhancing productivity and the sustainability of patchouli farming in the region.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the income from rice farming in the rice fields of Matahori Village, Padangguni Subdistrict, Konawe Regency. The sample used in this study consists of 20 farmers, selected through a census. This research is descriptive quantitative in nature, focusing on the analysis of data regarding revenue, costs, and income from rice farming in Matahori Village. The analytical tool used in this study is income analysis, which calculates the difference between the revenue earned by farmers and the costs incurred during the production process. The results of the study show that the total income from rice farming in Matahori Village amounts to IDR 672,232,000. The average income per farmer is IDR 33,611,600. This significant income indicates that rice farming in Padangguni Subdistrict has good economic potential for the local community. It shows that rice farming can make an important contribution to improving the economy, especially for farmers who manage their land well. However, the study also identifies several costs that farmers must incur, such as the costs of purchasing seeds, fertilizer, pesticides, and labor. These costs certainly affect the total income received by farmers. Nevertheless, the income derived from rice farming still shows a profitable potential for farmers, given the high income generated. Overall, the results of this study indicate that rice farming in Matahori Village, Padangguni Subdistrict, makes a significant contribution to the local economy. With proper management, rice farming has the potential to continue growing and providing greater welfare for farmers. Success in managing this agricultural business can serve as an example for other areas in improving the economy based on agriculture.
