Abstract

High-risk pregnancy is a condition in which there is one or more dangerous factors such as a history of C-section. The incidence rate of pregnant women with a history of cesarean section at the Kaliwadas Community Health Center in 2024 is the lowest with a total of 0 cases compared to other cases (Kaliwadas Community Health Center Health Profile, 2024). The researcher's objective was to provide comprehensive midwifery care to pregnant women, women in labor, newborns, postpartum women, and families planning to have children using the Varney and SOAP midwifery management approaches. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, consisting of interviews, observations, physical and supporting examinations, documentation, medical records, maternal and child health (MCH) books, and other literature. The results showed that there were no problems in comprehensive midwifery care. Mrs. I gave birth via cesarean section because she had a history of previous cesarean sections and to prevent complications in the mother and baby. No problems were found in the care of the newborn and postpartum period. Mrs. I chose to use injectable contraception once every three months. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the provision of comprehensive midwifery care is very important for maintaining the health of the mother and baby, so that early detection of a history of cesarean section can prevent possible complications.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of water apple (Syzygium aqueum) leaf extract against Staphylococcus epidermidis. The leaves were collected from Pranan Village, Sukoharjo District. After proper botanical identification (determination) at B2P2TOOT Karanganyar, the leaves were dried, ground into simplicia powder, and extracted using 70% ethanol through maceration. The ethanol extract was then fractionated based on solvent polarity using n-hexane (nonpolar), ethyl acetate (semipolar), and water (polar). Antibacterial testing was conducted using various concentrations (25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.125%, and 1.565%), with clindamycin as a positive control and DMSO as a negative control. The study assessed antibacterial effectiveness through inhibition zone measurements, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC). Results demonstrated that both the ethanol extract and ethyl acetate fraction exhibited antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis. The 25% concentration of the ethyl acetate fraction produced the largest inhibition zone (27.57 mm), followed by the ethanol extract (21.53 mm). Both the ethanol extract and the most active fraction showed MIC values of 1.565%, with the MBC of the ethyl acetate fraction also at 1.565%. These findings suggest that water apple leaves possess promising antibacterial properties, especially in the ethyl acetate fraction, against Staphylococcus epidermidis.leaves (Syzygium aqueum) against the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12238.

Abstract

A donor is someone who gives blood or blood components so that they can be used by others. Blood transfusion is a blood or blood components distribution activity from donors to patients with special considerations. Blood transfusion carry the risk of transmitting infection that can endanger the recipient patients. Transfusion-transmitted infections are pathogens that can weakenbthe immune system. These infections can include HIV, HBsAg, HCV, and Syphilis. Pre-transfusion screening is necessary to minimize the risk of infection spread. Pre-transfusion screening tests that can be performed include chemiluminescent immunoassay (CHLIA) and nucleic acid testing (NAT). These tests can detect the presence and quantify the titer of antigens in the serum and blood of potential donors. Screening for transfusion-transmitted infections is a blood safety measure aimed at minimizing the risk of infection transmission to blood recipients, healthcare workers, and the environment, conducted prior to the blood transfusion process. The high incidence of Transfusion-Transmitted Infections in donor blood units underscores the importance of accurate and precise screening. Testing must have high sensitivity and specificity to prevent false-negative results due to low analyte levels.

Abstract

Diarrhea is a major cause of morbidity and mortality among children under five, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. The increasing prevalence of diarrhea is influenced by various factors, including low maternal knowledge, suboptimal Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), and inadequate sanitation facilities, such as limited access to healthy latrines, wastewater disposal systems, and waste disposal facilities. This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated with the incidence of diarrhea in children aged 12–59 months in the working area of Puskesmas Pembina, Palembang City, in 2025. This research used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 107 respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed significant associations between maternal knowledge (p = 0.003), clean and healthy living behavior (p = 0.005), and the availability of healthy latrines (p = 0.000) with diarrhea incidence. However, no significant associations were found with wastewater disposal (p = 0.266) or waste disposal (p = 0.193). Maternal knowledge, PHBS, and ownership of healthy latrines are key factors in preventing diarrhea. Educational and sanitation improvement efforts are essential.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical services are an essential component in improving hospital service quality and patient satisfaction. One of the main indicators of pharmaceutical service quality is prescription waiting time. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between prescription waiting time and outpatient satisfaction levels at the Pharmacy Installation of Restu Ibu Hospital Balikpapan. This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 393 outpatient respondents who met the inclusion criteria, with data collected through direct observation of prescription waiting time and a satisfaction questionnaire based on the five SERVQUAL dimensions (tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy). Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most prescription waiting times met the standard (≤30 minutes for non-compounded and ≤60 minutes for compounded drugs). The majority of patients expressed satisfaction with the services provided. The Chi-Square analysis revealed a significant relationship between prescription waiting time and patient satisfaction level p <0,001 (p < 0.05). Thus, shorter prescription waiting times are associated with higher levels of patient satisfaction.
