Abstract

Teak leaves (Tectona grandis L., f) include familia verbenaceae that have strong antioxidant activity. The color of the teak leaves is caused by the flavonoid that is antosianidin. Anthocyanidin is a pigment that can be used as a natural dye and can replace synthetic dyes. The purpose of this study was to formulate lipstick preparations using dyes contained in teak leaves and to determine the effect of variation of teak leaf extract concentration. The type of research used is experimental research. This research covers teak leaf extraction using maseration method. Lipstick is made in 3 formulas. Formula I with concentration 5%, formula II 7% concentration and formula III 9% concentration. Lipstick that has been made then tested by physical properties including organoleptc test, homogeneity test, pH test, melting point test, and hardness test. The resulting lipstick is stable, red brick, brownish and light brown. The melting point of lipstick preparation containing teak leaf extracts with concentration of 5%, 7% and 9% were 55,670C; 57,330C and 58,670C, respectively, while the pH of lipstick preparations were respectively 6; 5 and 4. Hardness of lipstick preparations with concentrations of 5%, 7% and 9% were 87 grams, 97 grams and 112 grams, respectively. The conclusion of the research showed that the lipstick formulation of teak leaf extract can be used as a dye and there is influence of variation of teak leaf extract concentration.

Abstract

Extract leaves pepaya compound containing karpain alkaloid can bring to a bitter taste and having activity of obstruent against bacteria propionibacterium acnes that causes for acne.This report aims to understand extract leaves papaya can be made in the preparation anti acne cream, and influence distinction concentration extract leaves pepaya of physical preparations quality and cream having influence optimal with low extract leaves pepaya % 1, 2 %, 3 %. Extract of papaya leaves made by maceration for 5 days using solvent ethanol 96 %. Extract of papaya leaves made cream with M/ A type. Cream extract leaves papaya made with low different, the 1st formula with low extract 1%, 2nd formulas with low extract 2%, 3rd formula with low extract 3% and 4th formula without concentration extract. Cream and physical tested quality, quality testing covering the physical: organoleptic, the homogenity, the southwestern spread, the southwestern attaching, the pH, and the southwestern protection. Data analyzed normality with kolmogrov-smirnov followed by test homogeneity with homogency of variances and analyzed by statistic one-way anova if there is a difference followed by tukey HSD. The result showed that leaves papaya with concentration 1% , 2% , 3% can be made of preparations cream affecting physical cream quality preparations .Cream extract leaves papaya on formula II (concentration extract 2 %) has its attaching of 1.65±0.23 seconds , the spread 6.40±0.17 cm is the result of higher than the to a formula I (concentration extract 1 %) power attaching of 1.08±0.05 seconds, the spread of 6.26±0.30 cm and formula iii (concentration extract 3%) has its attaching 1.25 ± 1.11 seconds, the spread 7.03±0.32 cm.

Abstract

Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl) was a plant that contains many chemical compounds one of which flavonoids. Flavonoids act as an antibacterial acne-causing Staphylococcus epidermidis. Acne can be overcome by using stocks that have good penetration one of which is a gel formulation. The purpose of experiment was to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of carbopol as a gelling agent and propylene glycol as a humectant to the physical properties of the gel and to know gel that produces the most excellent physical properties. This experiment uses ethanol extract of Mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl) as the active ingredient and made five formulas with various concentration Carbopol: propylene glycol is formula I (0.5%: 15%), formula II (0.875%: 13.75%), the formula III (1.25 %: 12.5%), the formula IV (1.625%: 11.25%) and formula V (2%: 10%). Fifth tested formula physical properties and analyzed by ANOVA with confidence level of 95%. The results showed carbopol increase the viscosity and adhesion while propylene glycol improve dispersive power. Formula II and III produces the most excellent physical properties, with a pH test between 4.5 to 6.5, viscosity test 150-200 dPas, 5-7 cm dispersive power test, adhesion > 1 sec and power tests there are no red stain protection. Statistical analysis LSD formula II and III showed no significant differences. Viscosity test and dispersive power indicates with p value of 0.000 (<0.005) and adhesion with p value of 0.007 (<0.05).

Abstract

Tamarind herbal medicine is one of the traditional herbal medicine that is still widely consumed by the community. The manufacturing process is still simple and does not pay attention to the cleanliness element does not rule out the possibility of pollution by bacteria, one of which is by Coliform bacteria, this study aims to determine bacterial contamination in acid turmeric herbs which are sold in Cepogo Market, Boyolali Regency. This research is an observational study. Samples were taken by accidental sampling namely turmeric tamarind herbs purchased from 3 sellers of carrying herbs at Cepogo Market. Each sample was examined the MPN value with 2 test steps, namely the presumption test on the Lactose Borth media and the affirmation test on the Brilliant Green Lactose Broth media. Samples tested positive if there are gas bubbles after incubation. The assertion test results are matched with the MPN value table. The results of the study were obtained MPN value of sample A <3 cells / mL, sample B 4 cells / mL, and sample C 3 cells / mL. From the three samples tested, it can be concluded that the sample contained Coliform bacteria contamination. The value produced from the three samples is below the maximum limit of contamination, which is 20 cells / mL and turmeric acid is suitable for consumption

Abstract

Appropriate use of toothpaste is an effort to reduce problems in the oral cavity, namely reducing plaque that causes dental caries. One of the advantages of herbal toothpaste compared to some toothpastes on the market is that it does not use Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) which often causes side effects on the oral mucosa. Betel leaf, areca nut and gambier are herbal ingredients which are proven to be effective in inhibiting bacterial growth. To determine the combination of betel leaf, areca nut, and gambier extract ethanol toothpaste in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. This type of research was true experimental laboratories with a post-test only control group design. The study was tested using the well diffusion method with the treatment group namely negative control toothpaste (K-), combination of betel leaf, areca nut, and gambier extract ethanol toothpaste with concentrations of 10%; 1.5%; 0.5% (F1) and 20%; 3%; 1% (F2), positive control toothpaste (K+). The measurement of inhibition zone is carried out with a caliper. Data were analyzed using One Way Anova and Post Hoc LSD tests. The statistical analysis showed significant differences between groups (p<0.05), except between the (K-) and (K+) groups, as well as between the F1 and F2 groups (p>0.05). Combination of betel leaf, areca nut, and gambier extract ethanol toothpaste has an effect on the inhibition of the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria.

Abstract

Triclocarban is an antibacterial agent that is usually found in solid soaps and can cause resistance if used long term. Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf) is a natural ingredient that contains triclocarban. The purpose of this study was to make a formulation and determining whether the solid soap formulation of lemongrass essential oil (Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf) combination of Pandan leaves ethanol extract (Pandanus amaryllioflius) as the stability test requirements. The method in this research used water content test, free fatty acid content test, and pH level test. From the results of this research, the water content test showed that the lowest water content was formula 3 at 5.8%, while the highest water content was in the first formulation, which was 10.45%. Formula 2 moisture content of 7.1%. The results of the free fatty acid content test showed formula 1, 2 and 3, namely formula 1 0.246, formula 2 0.168 and formula 3 0.123 with the addition of 0.5 grams of lemongrass oil formula 1, formula 2 as much as 0.75 grams and formula 3 as much as 1 gram. The addition of sucrose formulas 1, 2 and 3 every 15.0 grams. The addition of ethanol formulation 1 was 26.3 grams, formulation 2 was 26.05 grams and formulation 3 was 25.8 grams. While the results of the pH level test show that the pH value of formula 1 pH 9.8, formula 2 pH 9.3 and formula 3 pH 9.2 meet the standard pH requirements for soap preparations based on SNI standards is soap 9-11.

Abstract

Euphorbia tirucalli L is a plant that has antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiviral, immunomodulatory properties, numb feet and hands. Euphorbia tirucalli L contain compounds including flavonoids and tannins. The research objective was to determine the differences in cream formulations with variations in the HLB values ​​of tween 80 and span 80 as emulsifying agents, to test the physical properties and stability of the cream preparations. Fractures were macerated extracted using ethanol 96% solvent. The resulting viscous extract was formulated in the form of cream type A / M with variations of Tween 80 and Span 80, the stability of the cream preparations obtained were tested for their stability including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, dispersion and viscosity testing, then continued by using the freeze thaw testing method. The results showed that the fracture herb ethanol extract could be formulated into a cream preparation that met the criteria by using tween 80 1.26 grams and span 80 3.74 grams with an HLB value of 7.

Abstract

Standardisasi ekstrak tumbuhan obat di Indonesia merupakan salah satu tahapan penting dalam pengembangan obat asli Indonesia. Biji alpukat (Persea americana Mill) merupakan salah satu bagian tanaman yang mengandung senyawa aktif diantaranya adalah golongan flavonoid, alkaloid, dan saponin. Senyawa aktif tersebut, khususnya golongan flavonoid mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antifungi, antiviral dan antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan standardisasi ekstrak etanol biji alpukat sehingga diharapkan dapat digunakan sebagai acuan parameter standar mutu ekstrak karena standarisasi biji alpukat belum tercantum di MMI dan FHI. Dalam penelitian ini penyarian ekstrak etanol biji alpukat dilakukan menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Penetapan parameter spesifik yaitu dengan mengetahui identitas simplisia, organoleptis ekstrak, serta senyawa yang terlarut dalam air dan etanol. Penetapan parameter non spesifik meliputi kadar air dan bobot jenis. Ekstrak kental biji alpukat diperoleh dari hasil maserasi menggunakan etanol 96% dengan perolehan rendemen sebesar 7,72%. Hasil standarisasi untuk parameter spesifik menunjukkan identitas nama latin Persea americana Mill, bagian yang digunakan biji dan nama daerah tumbuhan alpukat. Organoleptik ekstrak kental, warna cokelat kehitaman, rasa pahit dan bau khas biji alpukat, dengan kandungan senyawa yang larut dalam air 34,8%, larut dalam etanol 87,5%. Hasil Parameter non spesifik menunjukkan kadar air 15,6%, bobot jenis 1,00541 g/mL. Dari hasil diatas dapat disimpulkan Standarisasi Ekstrak etanol biji alpukat (Persea americana Mill) memenuhi persyaratan yang ditetapkan, secara spesifik dan non spesifik. Kata Kunci : Biji alpukat (Persea americana Mill), standarisasi, spesifik, non spesifik.

Abstract

Melinjo leaves have many benefits because they contain quite complex secondary metabolites. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of the results of phytochemical screening on melinjo leaves using maceration and sokletation methods. This research is a descriptive qualitative research conducted using several reagents, which are adjusted to the type of phytochemical test (flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins). The research stages included sample preparation, extraction process, and phytochemical screening. The results of phytochemical screening on melinjo leaves showed that the maceration and sokhletation extraction processes contained flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins. The difference that occurs is that in the saponin compounds, the results show that the foam in the macerated extract is more than in the soxhletation extract. The conclusion of this study shows that the extract of melinjo leaves contains flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins.

Abstract

Mahkota Dewa fruit (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl was effective as an anti-acne agent and an optimization formula of Mahkota Dewa fruit extractpeel off gel mask has been carried out but the stability test has not been carried out. This study aims to determine the stability of the optimum formula of Mahkota Dewa fruit extract (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl)peel off gel mask. The fruit simplicia of Mahkota Dewa was extracted by soxhletation with 70% ethanol. The thick extract is made into a peel off gel mask with 13.09%PVA and 2.97% HPMC. Stability tests were carried out in 3 cycles using the freeze and thaw method. The evaluations carried out included organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersibility, adhesion and drying time. Analyzed data by One Way Anova followed by the LSD (Least Significance Difference) test. The results showed that the peel off gel mask optimization formula stable in storage for 3 cycles which overall meet the requirements of physical properties. The preparation was brown with rose aroma, thick, homogeneous with a pH value of 6 ± 0 and a viscosity value of 400 ± 0. The results of the drying time and spreadability test showed no difference in all cycles. Although the results of the adhesion test showed a significant difference, it was still within the range of good adhesion values.
