Abstract

Abstract

The Fish Landing Certificate (SKPI) is an indicator for small-scale fishermen in exporting their catch. In accordance with article 2 of Permen No.13/MEN/2012 SKPI is an instrument derived from SHTI which aims to facilitate trade activities to eradicate IUU Fishing and ensure traceability of fish catches and ensure the conservation of sustainable management of fisheries resources. This study aims to analyze the amount of yellowfin tuna production based on fishing time and fishing area (DPI), analyze trends and distribution patterns of yellowfin tuna exports based on SKPI data at the Ambon Archipelago Fishery Port. Methods Data collection was carried out through observation and interviews with quantitative descriptive analysis and trend analysis. The results showed that the highest amount of yellowfin tuna production based on DPI was in WPP 715 and the fishing area with the least production was in WPP 718. The percentage of development trends in production of yellowfin tuna catches based on SKPI data showed that the highest percentage of production was in August and the lowest percentage of production was in May. Furthermore, for the flow of distribution of tuna exports from small-scale fishermen, they usually take care of the SKPI directly at the Ambon PPN harbor. After the required documents have been validated for completeness, the harbormaster will immediately issue an SKPI. After requirements documents are validated furthermore used to be sent to America, Vietnam and Japan.

Abstract

A purse seine is an active fishing gear used by fishermen in Ambon Island to catch small pelagic fish that gather in high abundance, although the information is still limited. The purpose of this research is to determine the species composition and size distribution of the catch from the mini purse seine in the waters of Outer Ambon Bay (TAL) and South Ambon Island (SPA). From the results of this research, there are four types in TAL waters and two types in SPA. In TAL, the captured fish species were Decapterus sp (Scad), Selar sp (Selar), Sardinella sp (Sardine), and Rastreliger sp (Mackerel). Sardine had the highest catch percentage at 28.41%, followed by scad (25.28%), mackerel (23.27%), and selar (23.04%). In the SPA waters, only scad (Decapterus sp) and selar (Selar sp) were found, with catch percentages of 57.83% and 42.17%, respectively. The average size distribution of scad caught with the mini purse seine in TAL waters was 16.62 cm, selar (17.22 cm), sardine (13.36 cm), and mackerel (17.34 cm). In SPA waters, the average size distribution of scad was 17.59 cm, and selar (16.63 cm).

Abstract

The Pesisir Barat of Lampung is one of the locations that has great opportunities for capture fisheries activities in Lampung. The abundant potential of these waters means that people in Pesisir Barat Regency earn income from fishing along these waters. Fishermen still catch fish using traditional tools using small boats (jukung). The vast waters with muddy and sandy water substrates make fishermen use fishing gear that is cheap, easy to operate and environmentally friendly. The trap fishing gear is a passive fishing gear operated by fishermen whose main catch is crab. The aim of this research is to map the distribution of crab catches using trap fishing gear. This research was carried out from June 2023 to September 2023. The research location was carried out in West Coastal Waters. Mapping crab fishing areas begins with identifying crab fishing areas. Identification of crab fishing areas is carried out using a survey method on three indicators, namely the location of fishing operations, catch results and environmental conditions. These results show that the distribution of crabs using trap fishing gear on the West Coast is at the Fishing Ground in Kuala Stabas Waters, Bengkunat Bay Waters and Labuhan Tapokan Waters with the number of crabs on LED trap fishing gear being 250 and the number of crabs on trap fishing gear without LEDs being 250. 119 Tails

Abstract

Small pelagic fish play a crucial role in the marine food chain and have significant economic value, yet information about them remains scarce. This research aims to map the origin and characteristics of small pelagic fish marketed at Arumbai Market in Ambon City. The study was conducted over six months, from May to October 2023, at Arumbai Market. The research utilized survey methods and interviews, and the data were analyzed descriptively. Observations were made on the quantity and size structure of four dominant fish species from five different fish landing locations: Hila, Tulehu, Laha, Hitu, and Latuhalat. The results of this research revealed variations in the composition of dominant small pelagic fish species sold, from the highest to the lowest, namely Decapterus sp, Rastreligger sp, Selar sp, and Auxis sp. The contribution of the five fish landing locations is as follows: Hila (31%), Hitu (24%), Tulehu (18%), Laha (15%), and Latuhalat (12%). Differences in the composition of the quantity and size marketed are suspected to be due to variations in seasons, fishing tools, and capture areas.

Abstract

Small scale fisheries are commonly multi-species fisheries practice which targeting on varied species and sizes that provide better income using multi-gear. Yet, tropical fisheries management more focuses on single-species management including studies to support the management. In this study, we analyzed the catch of hand line using multi-species approachment, size abundance spectrum. Hand line with hook size 13 and 15, 64 individual were collected during 10 trips of fishing at Nalahia Bay. Represented of 34 species from 15 family, the catch of hand line has ecological function from herbivores to piscivores, 2 to 4.5 of trophic level. Abundance size spectrum of hand line showed that Nalahia Bay comprehends high diversity of demersal fish and hand lines exploit proportionally to the available productivity.

Abstract

The sea waters in the Southern part of Gorom Island are one of the waters that has the potential to be used as an economically important demersal fishing area. The aim of this research is to analyze and map demersal fish fishing grounds, seasons, and the distribution of fish types and sizes in the waters of the southern part of Gorom Island. Data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitatively, while specifically for fishing ground maps using Argis software. The results of the analysis show that there are three demersal fishing grounds spread across the waters of the southern part of Gorom Island, namely: "Suar Tunas", "Maduan" and "Bat". Fishing activities can take place throughout the year at these three fishing grounds, but still pay attention to weather changes which are quite extreme in the eastern season, especially July-August. Meanwhile, the peak fishing season occurs in Transition Season 1 (March-May). The types of demersal fish found in the three fishing areas are classified as economically important fish from the genus Pristipomoides sp, family Lutjanidae; Parupeneus sp. family Mullidae; Variola albimarginata family Serraenida; Scarus sp. family Scaridae; and Lethrinus sp. family Lethrinidae. These types of fish are spread unevenly across the three fishing grounds with varying fish sizes.

Abstract

One of the fishing gears operated in Pangandaran waters is Gillnet. Traditional method to find ocean fish such as star interpretation, water ripples sound caused by fish shoals, and other indicators, is mostly applied by fishers in Pangandaran. To support their fishing operation a smart fishing tool is needed such as a vessel multi aid (VMA), Created by UCT Inc. as a specific maritime telecommunication, a brand name of Yukom VMA has been cooperated to Fishing Centre of the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. Yukom VMA basically is a assisting tool to find potential fishing ground. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of Yukom VMA to increase fisher’ catches and their potential utilization. This study was held on August 1, 2021 to September 1, 2021. The method used is descriptive method and direct interviews. The respondents were Gillnet fishers who drop their catch at the landing site (TPI) of Madasari. The features of Yukom VMA are consisted of e-logbook, SOS for emergency, Yukom chat, navigation supports, information of fishing ground sites and weather. This study resulted that Yukom VMA application is effective to increase fisher’s catches, helps fishers to carry out fishing operation, except for fishing ground information, the sites were too far to be reached out using small boat (2-3 GT). The average catch of Madasari fishermen is 102.6 kg with an average number of trips per month 16.7 trip and an average CPUE value of 10.3 kg/trip.

Abstract

The natural dynamics of the distribution of fish resources in marine waters are not uniform. This will have implications for optimizing the utilization of fish resources using various fishing gear in a fishing area. Fishing using millennium gillnets is generally not done by many fishermen on Ambon Island. The research aimed to determine the composition and influence of differences in millennium gillnet depth on catch results. This research method is a fishing experiment using 3 units of 3.5-inch millennium gillnets of uniform size which are set on the bottom of the water at treatment depths, namely 0-20 meters, 21-40 meters and > 40 meters. Simultaneous capture operations in the afternoon for 8 capture attempts. During the research, the catch was 364 fish weighing 209 kg. 6 types of fish were identified, namely Kuwe (Caranx sexfasciatus), yellow-tailed Lalosi (Caesio cunning), sand porter (Naso thynnoides), Samandar (Siganus sp), and grouper (Epinephelus merra), and mackerel (Scomberomorus gullatus). This type of fish is usually found swimming in open water or near the sea surface. The highest number of catches was the Kuwe fish species, 135 fish (37.09%) weighing 56.4 kg (26.99%), the lowest was the Tenggiri fish species (Scomberomorus gullatus), 5 fish (1.37%) weighing 5.1 kg (2, 44%). The highest catch was in the 21-40 m depth range, namely 162 fish and 94.7 kg, followed by more than 41 m, namely 103 fish and 57 kg, and the lowest in the 0-20 m depth range, namely 99 fish and 57.3 kg. The chance of catching fish occurs at all net-setting depths, but the highest chance occurs at 21-40 m. The results of the analysis showed that neither the overall catch nor the dominant fish species showed significant differences based on differences in depth.
