Abstract

Education in Indonesia faces complex challenges, so the government, educational institutions, and society continue to strive to improve access, quality, and relevance of education to form a young generation that is skilled, competitive, and ready to face the challenges of the 21st century. In the context of the Independent Curriculum, Catholic religious education in Indonesia emphasizes the development of religious understanding, moral values, and Catholic spirituality for students, while paying special attention to strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile. This research focuses on the dimension of knowledge and motivation of students to form strong character and mentality for the younger generation in facing various global challenges. Based on the data from the learning evaluation results at SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak, it shows that students' understanding of the Church's material as God's People is still not optimal. One of the reasons is the use of learning methods that are less varied and do not involve students actively in the learning process. Conventional learning models often make students passive and less motivated to dig deeper into the material being studied. So to face this condition, educators need to design a relevant and interesting learning process. One approach that can be applied is Problem Based Learning or problem-based learning. The objectives of this study are to: (1) identify the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning method in increasing students' understanding of the material of the Church as God's People in grade XI of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak; (2) seeing an increase in the active participation of students during learning on the material of the Church as God's people in class XI of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak; (3) measuring the improvement of learning outcomes after the application of the Problem Based Learning method on the material of the Church as God's people in class XI of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, written tests, and documentation. Data is analyzed through data reduction, presentation in the form of descriptions, graphs, or tables, and drawing conclusions in accordance with the formulation of the problem. The use of the Problem Based Learning model that follows its syntactic steps, such as orientation to the problem, organizing students to learn, guiding individual and group investigations, developing and presenting results, and evaluating the problem-solving process, has proven to be effective in improving students' learning outcomes on the material of the Church as a people of God Phase F class XI SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak.

Abstract

Effective and innovative education is the key to improving student learning outcomes, especially in today's digital era. At SMK Negeri 2 Pontianak, class X phase E faces challenges in understanding the material Suara Hati and Bertanggungjawab, with many students having difficulty due to the dominant lecture method and the lack of adequate learning facilities. This study proposes the implementation of the video-assisted Problem Based Learning (PBL) method, which can encourage students to think critically and be actively involved in the learning process. This method is expected to enrich the learning experience and increase student motivation. Through classroom action research conducted in two cycles, the results showed that the implementation of video-assisted PBL succeeded in improving student learning achievement from 50% in the first cycle to 80% in the second cycle. Students' critical thinking skills also increased from 60% to 90% in the same period. These findings indicate that video-assisted PBL is an effective approach to improving students' understanding of complex material and motivating them to learn actively. This study provides important implications for teachers in designing interesting and student-centered learning, and emphasizes the importance of utilizing media in education.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students on the material "Human Development Through the Roles of Others" using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis. This research employed a Classroom Action Research design conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 7 students from the seventh-grade class at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests (formative tests) and non-tests (observations). The results of the study in cycle I showed an average score of 68.14 and a classical learning completeness percentage of 72.42%. In cycle II, the average score increased to 84.85. The average student attendance in cycle I was 100% and remained 100% in cycle II. Student involvement in learning in cycle I was 66.28% (high) and increased to 76.50% (very high) in cycle II. It can be concluded that the PBL model can improve the learning outcomes and activities of students on the material "Human Development Through the Roles of Others" in the seventh-grade class at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis.

Abstract

At Elementary School Mardi Waluya Cibinong, it was found that the critical thinking ability and learning achievement targets of Catholic Religious Education especially in grade 2 were not optimal. This could be due to the use of less varied learning methods and the less optimal implementation of strategies that encourage active student participation. This research aims to improve the character dimension of critical thinking and student achievement targets by applying the Problem-Based Learning method in phase A of especially in grade 2. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles with materials on the safety of God’s work through Kain and Habel, with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, evaluation, and reflection. The research subject is students from Elementary school Mardi Waluya Cibinong with a total of 34 peoples. The results of the research show that the use of the PBL learning model can increase the character dimension of critical thinking in the Pancasila student profile (P3) from 70% to 84%. There was also an increase in student achievement outcomes, with mastery increasing from 20% to 68%, proficiency from 50% to 32%, and a decrease in appropriateness from 18% to 0%, which then increased to 12%. This indicates a significant decrease in the critical thinking dimension of the Pancasila students profile, which overall improves the critical thinking process and students achievement in grade 2 phase A. Recommendation: Teachers can focus on one dimension of P3 in the character development process by applying problem-solving learning methods.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' ability to retell the stories of Old Testament characters through a combination of the Show and Tell method and the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model in class 2 of SDN 077285 Afia. The Show and Tell method provides students with the opportunity to express their understanding of the material in a creative way, while PBL stimulates critical and collaborative thinking skills through solving real problems. This study uses a quantitative approach with a classroom action design, which involves data collection through observation, testing, and interviews. The results show that the combination of these two methods is significant in improving students' ability to retell the stories, as well as increasing student engagement and motivation to learn. This study concludes that the application of the combination of the Show and Tell and PBL methods is effective in learning, especially in the context of religious education.

Abstract

The independent curriculum emphasizes the Pancasila student profile. In this classroom action research, the researcher focuses on the dimension of independence which is based on the importance of forming strong character and mental attitudes in the younger generation, especially in facing complex global challenges. Improving learning outcomes through the PBL model on the material I Am the Unique Image of God. Promises. The Class Action Research Report in this study aims to find out whether student learning achievement has increased after implementing the Problem Based Learning Model in Catholic Religious Education and Character Education Subjects for Students in Class VII of SMPN 4 Lahewa in 2023/2024? The research object is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model, the form of research is Classroom Action Research with a cycle model, each cycle consists of four stages including: planning stage, implementation stage, observation stage and reflection stage. The data analysis technique used consists of data reduction by selecting raw data into information, data presentation, namely presenting data in the form of descriptions, graphs, tables and drawing conclusions by making conclusions from research results that refer to the problem formulation. The use of the Problem Based Learning model according to the syntax which includes orienting students to problems, organizing students to learn, guiding individual and group investigations, developing and presenting results, analyzing and evaluating the problem solving process, is effective in helping increase learning motivation and student independence in material I Am the Unique Image of God in class VIII of SMPN 4 Lahewa The data collection technique used by researchers was to observe students' activities guided by the P3 rubric. The results of observations from the three participants from the five students in cycle 1 averaged 74% and in cycle II 88% while the learning outcomes were in cycle! I the average was 81.5%, and in cycle II it increased to an average of 86.2%. The increase was seen to be 14% higher than before.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia aims to create a learning environment that supports the development of students' potential, including spiritual, intellectual, moral, and skills aspects. Although education has an important role in human resource development. In response to this challenge, the Independent Curriculum was introduced to restore learning affected by the pandemic, providing flexibility to educational units in adjusting the curriculum according to student needs. However, the achievement of learning achievement in Catholic Religious Education (PAK) at SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Raya is still less than optimal, mainly due to monotonous learning methods. This study proposes the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method as an alternative to improve student motivation and achievement. This study involved 9 students of class X FASE E, data was obtained through observation of activities and final tests for each cycle. This study aims to determine whether PBL assisted by image media can improve student learning motivation and how effective its application is in learning. The results are expected to show that students are more motivated and understand PAK material better. This is in accordance with the demands of 21st century learning which requires critical thinking skills, creativity, collaboration, and good communication.

Abstract

This research aims to improve learning outcomes for Catholic Religious Education and Character through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in class 2 of SDN 2 BatuBuil in the 2024/2025 academic year. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The material discussed is "God Gave Me a Family" with a focus on activities and positive attitudes towards family. The research subjects were 8 grade 2 students. Data was collected through observation and tests. The results show an increase in learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II, with significant changes in the affective aspect. In cycle I, only 2 students were proficient, while in cycle II this increased to 4 students. The post-test results also showed improvement: in cycle I, 3 students were in the undeveloped category, while in cycle II there were no students in that category, with 5 students reaching the advanced category. The application of PBL has proven to be effective in increasing students' understanding and skills in applying the values ​​taught.

Abstract

Pendidikan Agama Katolik dan Budi Pekerti memegang peranan penting dalam pembentukan karakter siswa. Materi pelajaran yang diajarkan dalam mata pelajaran ini mengandung nilai-nilai luhur yang diharapkan dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun, dalam praktiknya, masih banyak siswa yang kesulitan dalam menganalisis informasi yang berkaitan dengan ajaran agama.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance student learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in the sixth grade of SD Negeri 040533 Merek. The PBL method was chosen for its ability to actively engage students in the learning process by confronting them with real-life problems relevant to their daily lives. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations, learning outcome tests, and questionnaires to evaluate student engagement. The results showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes from Cycle I to Cycle II, with the percentage of mastery learning increasing from 83% to 87%. Additionally, students demonstrated enhanced collaborative skills and critical thinking abilities. These findings indicate that the application of the PBL method not only improves academic learning outcomes but also fosters character development and social skills among students. Therefore, it is recommended that the PBL method be more widely integrated into the curriculum to facilitate more effective and enjoyable learning experiences.
