Abstract

The main goal of education at school is the students’ achievement. Therefore, teachers must be knowledgeable about various teaching methods and implement them during their lessons. In order for students to achieve the intended learning outcomes, teachers must employ appropriate teaching methods during classroom activities. The purpose of this research is to identify student independence in learning through the use of a Problem-Based Learning model supported by PowerPoint in Phase E, involving 19 students from SMA Negeri 1 Lumar. This research was conducted over two cycles with the topic ‘Aku Pribadi yang Unik’. 1) The PBL model is effective in improving students’ dimensions of learning independence, as evidenced by a 12% increase. 2) There is also potential for improvement in students’ cognitive learning outcomes. 3) Furthermore, this model can enhance the achievement of psychomotor learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning motivation and critical thinking skills of students in the Catholic Religious Education subject at SMPN 4 Menyuke. The use of monotonous teaching methods is one of the main causes for the lack of stimulation for students to think critically. To address this issue, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method was implemented as an interactive approach aimed at improving students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. This study used classroom action research conducted in two cycles. In cycle I, the observation of critical thinking skills showed that all students were in the "Developing" category with an average class score of 69.0. The most commonly achieved indicator was "Asking questions to clarify information," while the lowest was "Explaining assumptions used in the thinking process." In cycle II, there was a significant improvement with the average class score increasing to 81.1, reflecting the effectiveness of PBL in enhancing students' critical thinking and analysis. Cognitive learning outcomes also improved, where in cycle I most students were in the "Sufficient" category, and only 5 students reached the "Proficient" category with an average score of 78. In cycle II, the average score increased to 85, with several students reaching the "Proficient" category. This improvement between cycles indicates that PBL is effective in enhancing students' cognitive understanding.

Abstract

Education is a systematic process that aims to develop the potential, knowledge, skills, attitudes, and character of individuals, so that they can become individuals who are useful in their personal, social, and work lives. The main goal of education is to prepare individuals to face life's challenges, contribute to society, and achieve complete self-development. Education plays an important role in shaping civilization and encouraging the progress of a nation. The quality of learning in schools is largely determined by two main factors, namely student learning motivation and teacher teaching creativity. However, at SDN 091448 Saribujawa, Catholic Religious Education learning often faces obstacles, such as the use of monotonous teaching methods, which have an impact on low student interest and learning outcomes. This study aims to improve student activity and learning outcomes through the application of the Problem-Based Learning Model (PBL) in grade V students of SDN 091448 Saribujawa, with a focus on how PBL can improve learning outcomes and students' self-understanding as developing individuals. The implementation of PBL supported by technology in the learning process has succeeded in increasing student motivation and their learning outcomes, as indicated by the increase in the average value from cycle I to cycle II. In addition, there was a significant improvement in student attitude indicators, such as cooperation, responsibility, and independence.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Tarabintang in the subjects of Catholic Religious Education and Ethics through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. This method was chosen as a solution to the low interest and learning outcomes of students, especially in understanding the material of the Church as a Sign and Means of Salvation. This study employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles. Each cycle involves the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the PBL model successfully improved students' learning outcomes in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. In the first cycle, the average value of student test results reached 76, which increased to 85 in the second cycle. In addition, students' active participation in group discussions increased significantly, as seen from the observation results that showed an increase in students' ability to identify problems, provide alternative solutions, and appreciate the perspectives of others. In conclusion, the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model has proven effective in improving students' learning outcomes, both in terms of knowledge and social skills. The application of this model not only increases students' understanding of the material taught but also enhances students' active participation and motivation to learn. It is recommended that teachers continue to apply this method in teaching, especially in subjects that require active student involvement in problem-solving.

Abstract

This research aims to increase students' learning interest in the subject of Catholic Religious Education and Character Education through the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) using Canva media in the 8th grade at SMP N 11 Ngabang. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and tests. The results showed that the implementation of PBL with Canva media was able to improve students' interest and engagement in learning, as well as enhance their understanding of the material. By the end of the second cycle, 80% of students showed increased learning interest, and 75% actively participated in learning activities. This improvement was also reflected in the evaluation results, where 80% of students demonstrated a good understanding of the material. Thus, PBL with Canva media can be an effective alternative to improve the quality of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of the concept of self as a unique person in Catholic teachings with the help of interesting and Visual Power Point. This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 7 Medan in Class X-3 with the subjects of this study were 9 students. Based on the analysis of data on the initial reflection which still showed that student learning outcomes were still lacking, the study was conducted by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model in learning Unique Personal Humans. To improve student learning outcomes. The use of Power Point with conventional methods, for example, lectures without Media is very important, especially in learning unique personal material. The study showed that the group using Power Point had significantly better learning outcomes compared to the Control group. So this can indicate that Power Point can be an interesting and effective alternative to improve student learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Studies. in Catholic Religious Education. This study was conducted in class X-3 Phase E. Data collection techniques were observation and testing. The data analysis technique used was qualitative descriptive technique. According to the results of the research that has been conducted, the following conclusions were obtained: Learning activities using the Problem Based Learning model can improve student learning outcomes on the Unique Human Personality material.

Abstract

Improving learning outcomes is a certain competency or ability achieved by students after following the teaching and learning process and includes cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills, which is one of the hopes for every teacher towards their students, the ability to improve the learning outcomes of students at SD Negeri 046413 Barung Kersap is still relatively low, so that linearly student learning outcomes are low, therefore the existing problems will be tried to be overcome with a more interesting learning model, namely PBL. This research aims to find out whether the application of the problem based learning model can improve student learning outcomes in the Catholic Religion Learning process and whether the use of this model can also improve student learning outcomes in Catholic religious learning. The method used is classroom action research with the variable being PBL learning to improve learning outcomes. Data collection techniques using observation, written tests, interviews and documentation were carried out on 11 children. The findings in this research were that in cycle 1 the average score was 36.36% or 45.45%, there were still 2 students who were still at the Eligible stage. In the second cycle the average score was 94.54 or 100% completion of learning outcomes for all students. The increase in learning outcomes increased from 83.63 to 94.54. The implication of this research is that the PBL method can be used by teachers creatively, the teacher's creativity in using the student center learning method brings the completeness of learning outcomes to an increase.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine: 1) Whether the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can improve critical thinking skills, and 2) How to implement the PBL model effectively to enhance students' critical thinking. The PBL model guides students to think critically by utilizing interactive learning media such as educational videos and Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD). These tools stimulate students' cognitive processes. This study used Penelitan Tindakan Kelas (PTK) with data collection techniques including observation, tests, non-tests, LKPD, and documentation. The research was conducted over two cycles, each consisting of the following stages: 1) Planning; 2) Implementation; 3) Observation; and 4) Reflection. The improvement in students' critical thinking was demonstrated by the average observation score of 73.8% in the first cycle, which increased to 83.8% in the second cycle. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the study showed a significant improvement in students' critical thinking skills, as evidenced by their enhanced ability to analyze questions, provide opinions, draw conclusions, and evaluate with the support of interactive and appropriate learning media.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the application of the Problem Base Learning (PBL) model in improving the critical and creative thinking abilities of class IV phase B students at SD 12 Sungai Risap. As well as describing how the critical thinking skills and creativity of class IV phase B students at SD 12 Sungai Risap increased after implementing PBL. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK), entitled "Improving Students' Critical Thinking Abilities and Student Creativity with the PBL Model in Class IV Phase B Students at SD Negeri 12 Sungai Risap." This research was carried out at SDN 12 Sungai Risap, Binjai Hulu District, Sintang Regency from 13 to 19 September 2024. This research was carried out using the Problem Based Learning model. The research subjects were students of class IV Phase B at SDN 12 Sungai Risap. The research object was the application of the Problem Base Learning (PBL) model in improving the critical and creative thinking abilities of class IV phase B students at SD 12 Sungai Risap. The research was carried out in two classroom actions. The activity stages include planning, implementation, observation, analysis and reflection which are carried out face to face. Data collection was carried out by making direct observations and distributing questionnaires to students. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data collection, data condensation, presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can improve the critical thinking skills of class IV Phase B students at SD 12 Sungai Risap. Overall, PBL forces students to be active in their learning process, thereby improving critical thinking skills by teaching them to analyze, evaluate, and make better decisions. The application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can increase the creativity of class IV Phase B students at SD 12 Sungai Risap. Use of Innovative Ideas, Diverse Learning Outcome Products, Alternative Approaches to Problem Solving, Deeper Exploration. Overall, PBL facilitates increased critical thinking and creativity in students by placing them in learning situations that require complex and innovative problem solving.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance student learning motivation through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model supported by audiovisual media in the fifth grade of SDN 040519 Tanjung Barus. The method used is classroom action research, consisting of two cycles, with each cycle including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and interviews to evaluate student motivation before and after the PBL model implementation. The results indicate that the application of the PBL model significantly improves student learning motivation, as reflected in increased active participation in discussions, a desire to complete assignments, and positive responses to feedback from teachers. The average motivation score increased from 65% in the first cycle to 85% in the second cycle, demonstrating that the applied learning strategy was successful. This study provides important contributions to the development of more engaging and relevant teaching methods and offers recommendations for teachers to integrate audiovisual media into the learning process to enhance student motivation and engagement.
