Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade VIII students in Catholic Religious Education on the material Consequences of the Proclamation of Jesus at Regina Pacis Junior High School Surakarta by applying the Problem-Based Learning model. Student learning outcomes in this material show low results due to conventional teaching methods. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) is carried out in two cycles involving planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed a significant increase in the average student score from cycle I to cycle II. The application of the PBL model also increases student involvement in the learning process, group work, and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning interest through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, supported by audio-visual media, on the topic “Kemampuanku Terbatas” in Catholic Religious Education. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted at SMP Regina Pacis Belitung, Grade VII, involving 12 students. The focus of the research was to enhance students' engagement and learning motivation, which previously showed low levels of interest. The study was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, the average score of students' learning interest reached 17.83, indicating sufficient participation but not yet optimal. Through the PBL intervention, using audio-visual media as a learning aid, the lessons became more interactive and engaging. In the second cycle, the average learning interest score increased to 20, with an average improvement of 2.17 points. These results demonstrate that the implementation of PBL, supported by audio-visual media, effectively enhances students' interest and engagement. The students became more active in solving problems and more motivated to participate in discussions and group learning activities. The visual media also contributed to a better understanding of the material. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the PBL model, complemented by audio-visual media, be applied in religious education to deepen understanding and increase students' learning interest.

Abstract

Religious Education is an education process that has a purpose to form religious character of the religious tradition to individuals. This formation process includes an understanding of the Holy Book, religious traditions, and moral and spiritual development in accordance with religion culture and tradition. This religious education is the basis for students meditative thinking because it plays an important role in shaping human spiritual and moral development. As writers, we are using the literature review approach in writing this article in order to compile a deep understanding to improve the character education of the people based on the principles of religion culture and tradition. The results of this study confirm that Religious Education can form the students personality and character responsible individuals.

Abstract

This research aims to improve learning outcomes and cooperative attitudes between students by using the Problem Based and Learning model assisted by visual media in students of SMP Negeri 1 Mardingding. This research is a classroom action research. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Mardingding involving 8 Catholic students in the 2024/2025 academic year. Actions are carried out in two learning cycles. Data were collected with observation guidelines, tests in each cycle, and analyzed in a qualitative descriptive manner. Based on the learning outcomes of grade VII students out of 8 students, only 3 people or 33.33% obtained a score above the KKM or completed it. Meanwhile, 5 other students or 66.66% have not finished. Thus, the application of methods that can improve student learning outcomes that can be done is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method. PBL not only improves cognitive aspects, but also helps students in reflecting on their abilities and limitations.

Abstract

This research aims to determine how the learning process is based on practical learning after giving reward with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This Classroom Action Reserch has 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, evaluation and reflection. The subjects in this study were 12 fourth grade students, namely 3 males and 9 females. Data collection used in this study is 1. Test technique with the target achievement of mature, proficient, feasible, and newly developing2. Observation with the Pancasila Student Profile indicator with self-direction and mutual cooperation the result of the study show that the determination of the PBL model can improve learning outcomes where in Cycle 1 wich was included in the low category increased to 37% feasible, proficient 50%, Proficient 13%. And in cycle 2 it increased to proficient 37% and proficient 63%.

Abstract

This research explores the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning (PBL) method in enhancing student learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education and Character Education in Phase D for ninth-grade students at UPTD Negeri 3 Lolofitu Moi. Using a quantitative approach, this study involved 10 students from the school and employed an experimental design to analyze the impact of PBL on understanding the material related to Rights and Obligations as Members of the Church and Society. Data were collected through observations of teacher activities, student activities based on observation sheets, group discussions, the learning process, and the completion of student worksheets. The results showed that teacher activity in implementing PBL improved from 68.7% (good) to 98.8% (excellent). The findings indicate a significant increase in quiz test scores, from 50% (good) student mastery to 90% (excellent), suggesting progress in material comprehension. Further observations revealed that student engagement in the learning process and group discussions increased from 68.7% (good) to 98.4% (excellent), which not only enriched their learning experience but also developed collaborative skills and critical thinking. These findings confirm that the PBL method, with a focus on collaborative learning, can be an effective strategy for enhancing learning outcomes and student motivation in religious education. This study recommends the broader implementation of the PBL method in religious education curricula, as well as further research to explore other variables that may influence student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the critical thinking skills of Grade X students at SMK Pertukangan Santo Yusup by applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The background for this research is the previously low critical thinking skills of students, who tended to be passive and less actively involved in the learning process. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) divided into two cycles, Cycle I and Cycle II, covering the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, observation results showed that most students were still in the low category of critical thinking skills, with only a few reaching the "Proficient" category. After improvements in the second cycle, there was a significant increase. The number of students able to think critically in the "Proficient" category rose to 47%, and many students began to analyze, evaluate, and argue more effectively. The study also proved that the application of PBL increased students' active involvement in learning. They became more engaged in group discussions, problem-solving, and independent problem analysis. The classroom atmosphere also became more dynamic, with more positive interactions between students and between students and teachers. In conclusion, the PBL model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. The recommendations are to strengthen the implementation of PBL, develop relevant learning materials, provide sufficient time for learning, and conduct regular evaluations to ensure continuous improvement. With proper implementation, PBL can be further developed to help students hone their critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning interest through the application of Problem Based Learning (PBL) aided by PowerPoint in the subject of Catholic Religious Education (PAK) with the topic of Jesus' Passion and Death for 8th-grade students at SMP N 11 Putussibau. The background of this research is the low student interest and understanding of the material. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, where each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The results show that the PBL method with PowerPoint media can enhance students' interest, understanding, and skills. In cycle I, the observation results showed that students' learning interest was still in the sufficient category, but significantly increased in cycle II after improvements were made. The average cognitive score of students increased from 78 in cycle I to 87 in cycle II, while affective and psychomotor scores also showed significant improvements. This improvement is also evident in the Pancasila Student Profile (P3) dimension, especially in the aspect of Faith in God Almighty and Noble Morality. This, the application of the PBL method with PowerPoint media proved to be effective in improving the quality of learning and students' interest in the Passion and Death of Jesus topic.

Abstract

Student engagement in learning plays a crucial role in enhancing material comprehension and learning motivation. Active students are more likely to engage in critical thinking, participate in discussions, and solve problems presented to them. However, in many schools, student engagement remains low due to passive teaching methods, such as lectures. To address this issue, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method is implemented. PBL encourages students to actively solve real-world problems relevant to their lives, thereby increasing their involvement and participation in the learning process. This research aims to improve the engagement of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 7 Sintang on the Aku Memiliki Kemampuan topic through the application of PBL. The results indicate that PBL successfully enhanced student engagement, with student participation increasing from 30% in the initial condition to 85% after two learning cycles. Additionally, the students' average scores significantly improved. Thus, PBL is proven effective in enhancing both student engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance student learning outcomes in Religious Education through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model at SD Negeri 044845 Payanderket. Utilizing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, the research was conducted in two cycles, focusing on improving the character profile of Pancasila students. The results indicate a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 72% in Cycle I to 80% in Cycle II. The findings suggest that the consistent application of the PBL model can effectively enhance the quality of learning and foster critical thinking skills among students. It is recommended that educators adopt PBL as a regular teaching strategy to further improve student engagement and academic performance.
