Abstract

The problem of grade III students of SDN 10 Cimpungan is the lack of interest and understanding of students in the learning material. Students tend to feel bored and sleepy during the learning process, which leads to low learning outcomes. To overcome these challenges, interesting learning methods are needed to improve student learning outcomes and interest in the classroom. One method that has proven effective is Problem Based Learning (PBL). The purpose of this research is to improve learning outcomes and learning outcomes by applying the problem based learning (PBL) method of growing and developing materials. Focusing on the independence dimension of the Pancasila profile is intended to improve the cognitive/achievement aspect and affective/behavioral aspects of students. The class action research method was carried out in 2 cycles. This class action research was carried out on November 2 and 9, 2024 with four stages, namely: planning, implementation, evaluation, and reflection with 10 respondents, 3 women and 7 men. Data analysis was carried out with descriptive percentages to determine the increase in the aspect of student independence. The results of the first cycle of research on the cognitive aspect showed that 40% were proficient, 40% proficient 20%, with an average score of 78 cognitive aspects/learning achievements. In the second cycle, there was a significant increase in proficient 60%, proficient 30%, and only 10% developed, and the average observation learning outcomes reached 86.5%. The results of the reflection recommend that there needs to be assistance in the affective aspect so that it can increase students' learning independence. The implications of this finding confirm that the PBL method is able to increase students' independence and achievement targets in learning. The results of the first cycle of research to the second cycle of cognitive aspects showed an increase of 30% with a score of 86-100 in the advanced category of 30%, 40% with a score of 75-85 in the proficient category and 20% with a score of 60-74 in the feasible category, 10% with a score of 0-59 in the undeveloped category. Meanwhile, the data from the final evaluation of cycle 2 shows that 50% of the advanced category, 40% of the capable category, 10% of the feasible category and none of those in the category have not developed so that the percentage is also 0%. Meanwhile, the average results of the affective value of the independence aspect: activeness obtained a score from 60% to 85%, ability to complete tasks from 30% to 88%, ability to analyze from 10% to 82%, and creativity from 40% to 80%.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the character of 8th grade students of SMP Santo Tarcisius Dumai through the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model on the material of the Role of the Holy Spirit. This research was motivated by problems related to the low character of students in understanding and practicing the spiritual values contained in the material. The PBL model was chosen because it is considered capable of encouraging students to be active, critical, and collaborative in solving problems related to learning material, so that it is expected to increase understanding and practice of the character values taught. This research uses the Classroom Action Research method with a cycle that includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of the study are expected to make a positive contribution to the development of student character through innovative and effective learning approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how to improve the learning outcomes of 11th grade Anthony students at Saint John's Catholic School BSD in the 2024/2025 school year in Religious Education and Budi Pekerti subjects through the application of Problem Based Learning by discussing the material of building a dignified life. The research conducted was a classroom action research using two cycles. The stages in each cycle include planning, action implementation, followed by observation and reflection. In this study, the first and second cycles discussed the same topic, namely building a dignified life with the title Developing a Culture of Love. This research only focuses on 11th grade students of Saint John's School, totaling 25. Data collection is done by observation and also cognitive aspect assessment in the form of essays. As supporting data, documentation of activities will be carried out. The results of research using Project Based Learning can show an increase in mutual cooperation; collaboration between students can be seen through the comparison of cycles I and II, where there is an increase in the presentation of mutual cooperation elements by 19% and an increase in cognitive aspects by 21%.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning outcomes in the topic "Respecting Other People's Property" through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in Class IV, Phase B of SD Negeri 03 Rantau Selatan. The background of this research stems from the observation that students' understanding and behavior related to respecting the property rights of others is still relatively low. This condition has directly impacted their learning outcomes, which have not yet met the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). The Problem Based Learning model was chosen because it emphasizes student-centered learning through the exploration of real-life problems. It is believed that this approach can foster students’ critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, while also helping them connect learning materials with everyday situations that they can relate to. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is carried out in two cycles. Each cycle involves four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through various instruments including observation sheets, learning outcome tests (to measure cognitive development), and documentation (to support the analysis process). The results of the research indicate a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes after the application of the PBL model. This improvement is evident both in the cognitive domain, such as understanding of the material, and in the affective domain, such as changes in students’ attitudes and behavior in respecting others’ belongings. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model is effective and recommended for use in character-based education, particularly in strengthening students' understanding and appreciation of social values in daily life.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to enhance students’ moral awareness in following their conscience through the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in Phase E Grade X students of SMA Negeri 13 Medan. The main issue addressed in this study is the low level of students' moral awareness in making decisions based on their conscience in daily life. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, documentation, and student performance assessments. The results showed that the implementation of the project-based learning model effectively improved students’ moral awareness, as evidenced by increased active participation, personal reflection on their actions, and the ability to connect learning materials with real-life experiences. Therefore, PjBL is proven to be effective in fostering students’ moral awareness through contextual and meaningful learning processes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of learning hierarchy in the Catholic church in class XI students through the Jigsaw learning model. The research was conducted at SMK Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.The implementation of the research consisted of two cycles, each cycle consisting of four stages, namely planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Based on this research, it was concluded that by using the Jigsaw learning model the learning outcomes of understanding the hierarchy of the Catholic church could increase. The results of this study are useful for improving the quality of learning Catholic religious education in general and especially in understanding the Catholic church hierarchy effectively. The researcher's suggestion on this occasion is that Catholic religion teachers continue to strive to improve the quality of learning by using a variety of varied learning models.

Abstract

Religious moderation is an essential approach to shaping the humanistic character of Generation Z (Gen Z) students, particularly in Indonesia’s religious diversity context. This study aims to analyze the level of understanding among teachers and students regarding religious moderation, evaluate the implementation of related programs at SMA Sint Louis Semarang, and identify challenges and solutions for its application. A mixed method of literature review and surveys involving 21 teachers and 137 students was employed. The findings reveal that most teachers (71.4%) and students (45.3%) demonstrate a solid understanding of religious moderation, although some students struggled to articulate its concept. School programs such as interfaith dialogues, visits to places of worship, and project-based learning (PBL) have proven effective in fostering tolerance, empathy, and social harmony among students. However, challenges such as stereotypes, prejudice among students, and reported acts of intolerance (37.2% of students) indicate the need to strengthen character education. This study recommends additional training for teachers, the development of diversity-based programs, and enhanced interfaith dialogues to promote religious moderation in schools. With these strategic steps, SMA Sint Louis Semarang can lead in cultivating a generation that is tolerant, humanistic, and inclusive.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in students' interest in learning through the use of audio visual media in Catholic Religion lessons in grade 6 of SDN 13 Hutanamora, Pangururan District, Samosir Regency. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, including the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study consisted of 17 students, with instruments in the form of learning interest questionnaires, observation sheets, assessments, and interviews.The results of the study showed a significant increase in both interest and student learning outcomes after the use of audio visual media. The average value of the diagnostic assessment increased from 61.47 to 71.47, formative from 65 to 75, and summative from 68.24 to 78.82. Observations showed that students became more active, interested, and participatory in learning, with an increase in learning interest in the "Very" category from 47% to 94%. All dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile also showed an increase, especially in the aspects of independence, creativity, and mutual cooperation. Student interviews support the data, where 94% of students stated that audio visual media helped understand the material and made learning more interesting. Observations during the learning process showed an increase in student discussion, enthusiasm, understanding, and interest from the first cycle to the second cycle.Thus, audio visual media has been proven effective in increasing student interest and learning outcomes, and is recommended for use as an innovative and enjoyable learning strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding and improve student learning outcomes in the subject of Catholic Religion for grade 7 of SMP Xaverius 3 Bandar Lampung in the 2024-2025 academic year through the application of the PBL method at SMP Xaverius 3 Bandar Lampung. This method was chosen because it can stimulate critical thinking, creativity, and students' problem-solving abilities. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR). This study uses quantitative and qualitative approaches with a classroom action research design. The subjects of the study were grade 7 students at SMP Xaverius 3 Bandar Lampung. The research instruments used involved comprehension tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The first cycle discussed I was created as a unique person, and the second cycle discussed I am Proud as a Woman and a Man. The application of the PBL method was carried out in several stages, including problem identification, information collection, analysis, solution formulation, and evaluation. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' understanding of Catholic Religion topics. Thus, this study makes a positive contribution to efforts to improve the quality of Catholic religious learning at SMP Xaverius 3 Bandar Lampung through the application of the PBL method. The implication of this study is that this method can be adopted in similar learning contexts to improve students' understanding of materials, especially Catholic religious education.

Abstract

This study aims to overcome the problem of low learning outcomes in Christian Religious Education (PAK) among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Karanganyar. Observations indicated that the learning process was monotonous due to the predominant use of lecture methods, resulting in decreased student engagement, lack of focus, boredom, and even drowsiness during lessons. These factors contributed to low learning motivation and poor academic performance. To address this, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model was applied as an alternative method designed to foster active learning, student engagement, and real-life problem-solving skills. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, conducted in two cycles with four stages in each cycle: planning, implementation, evaluation, and reflection. The research subjects were five students from class IV. Data collection techniques included observation sheets, which focused on measuring the “concern” aspect of the Pancasila Student Profile, and written tests to evaluate students’ learning outcomes at the end of each cycle. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and percentage analysis. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ concern, which increased from 73.5% in cycle 1 to 85.9% in cycle 2—an increase of 12.4%. Learning outcomes also improved, with the proportion of students in the “Proficient” category rising from 20% to 60%, marking a 7.8% increase. These findings demonstrate that the PBL method is effective in enhancing both students’ character values and academic achievement, particularly on the topic of respecting parents. Therefore, PBL is recommended for use in similar character-based learning contexts.
