Abstract

Conflict originates from differences that develop in society. These differences include gender, ethnicity, nationality, culture, social and economic strata, politics, religion, and beliefs, including religious sects. This study aims to determine the resolution of conflicts arising from differences in khilafah between Sunni and Wahhabi schools in East Lombok, Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach. Researchers obtain both primary and secondary data related to the problem by going directly to the research object (field research). Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation for qualitative data analysis in this study, using the flow model proposed by Miles and Huberman. The study's results show differences between the Sunni and Wahhabi schools of thought that developed in the village of Bebidas, Wanasaba, East Lombok, where adherents of each school hold that their respective religions' teachings and practices are authentic. This difference in understanding and practice of religion is the source of conflict. Conflict resolution is necessary to identify solutions that prevent or minimise disputes, thereby avoiding escalation to physical violence. Among other things, disputes are handled through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and by the local village government. Additionally, efforts were made to resolve the conflict by raising the tolerance threshold between the parties. This finding also has implications for conflicts originating from other differences that develop in society. Researchers also emphasise the importance of conducting research from multiple scientific perspectives.

Abstract

This study measures the influence of public perception and the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG) on the image of the Prabowo–Gibran administration in Berau Regency. In political communication, the MBG program is viewed not only in terms of its implementation but also in how it is perceived by the public and communicated by the government. This study is motivated by the existence of both pros and cons regarding the new leadership and the challenges faced by the new government's image, particularly in programs that have not yet been fully realized, especially in areas such as Berau Regency, which is geographically quite distant from the centre of government. The objective of this study is to measure the influence of public perception and the implementation of the MBG program on the government's image. The method used is quantitative, with a survey method. The sample consists of 100 respondents selected through stratified random sampling in Berau Regency. The results indicate that public perception does not have a significant influence on the government's image. Conversely, the MBG program partially has a strong influence. However, when tested simultaneously, both contribute significantly to forming a positive image of the government. These findings indicate that narratives and strategic communication regarding programs that have not yet been fully implemented can still influence the government's image. In Political PR, these results highlight the importance of effective political communication and make theoretical and practical contributions to the development of political communication strategies.

Abstract

Discrimination and extremism undermine social cohesion, emphasizing the need for character education especially religious moderation in madrasah curricula. However, Society 5.0's learning needs necessitate higher-order thinking teaching methods like Computational Thinking. To address Society 5.0 challenges, this study evaluates a religious moderation program integrated into Islamic education materials using computational thinking (CT). This qualitative descriptive study focused on context, transactions, and outcomes using Stake's Countenance evaluation paradigm. 112 professors and 1,276 students were interviewed at Yogyakarta Special Region madrasahs. To keep the trustworthiness, we interviewed and coded and checked the data again. The earlier review shows that program preparation and requirements met Ministry of Religious Affairs objectives, including teacher aid to internalize religious moderation through CT-oriented instruction. Classroom learning and school culture activities like Islamic education recitals and Rohis demonstrate the program's implementation, according to the transaction evaluation. The outcome review shows that coaching, workshops, and training sessions on religious moderation and critical thinking continue throughout school hours, disrupting learning. Criticism as a digital-era competency and a comprehensive educational framework for religious moderation in Islamic education improves academic discourse. It adapts Stake's Countenance concept to madrasah values education. It provides empirical evidence from a large participant cohort on policy criteria translation into everyday learning. It finds a real-world governance gap—training scheduling—that can reduce program effectiveness even in ready contexts. Program managers can use it to link character education goals to instructional time. It also proposes evaluating other places that desire to combine CT with religious moderation. Finally, it links cognitive talents to social and ethical resilience in schooling to boost Society 5.0 discussions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between demographics, communication needs, and social resilience of communities in the core area of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), specifically in Sepaku District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan. This study used a survey method with a quantitative correlational approach. The sample consisted of 95 respondents randomly selected from a population of 2,094 households in three villages: Pemaluan, Bumi Harapan, and Bukit Raya. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, with variables of communication needs (cognitive, affective, and integrative dimensions) and social resilience (persistence, strength, optimism, and empathy). Data analysis used the Pearson correlation test and the Kruskal–Wallis test to examine the relationship between demographic variables and social resilience. The findings indicated a significant correlation between education level and social resilience (H = 8.681; p = 0.034), suggesting that education enhances the community's adaptive capacity. In contrast, gender (p = 0.932) and participation in village meetings (p = 0.201) did not show significant differences in the level of social resilience. Furthermore, communication needs had a positive and significant relationship with social resilience (r = 0.249; p = 0.015). Among its dimensions, integrative needs showed a significant contribution independently (p = 0.011; r² = 0.261), while the cognitive and affective dimensions were not significant when tested separately. These results validate that addressing communication needs, especially the integrative aspect associated with social interaction and community cohesion, is essential for enhancing community resilience in regions experiencing swift transformation. Therefore, a transparent, participatory, and inclusive public communication strategy is a key factor in supporting social resilience and the development aspirations of the National Capital.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze several da'wah content on Abu Marlo's Instagram account created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The approach used is descriptive qualitative. Analysis using Roland Barthes' semiotics. In this discussion, the author analyzes several images from Abu Marlo's Instagram account using denotative, connotative, and mythic meanings. The research findings indicate that the image content used in Abu Marlo's preaching not only serves as a visual medium but also carries strong symbolic and ideological meaning. Therefore, it can be concluded that Islamic preaching through image content on Abu Marlo's Instagram account is an effective form of visual communication in conveying Islamic values contextually and attractively. This research shows that a semiotic approach can reveal layers of meaning in digital preaching content. This is also related to contributions in the field of communication in the digital era, where technological developments are currently accelerating, leading to the emergence of the term "contemporary da'wah."

Abstract

Da'wah in the current digital era has increasingly penetrated the public sphere, thereby demanding complex communication strategies. However, da'wah studies have often focused on themes and persuasive strategies, while mapping cross-code language functions in multilingual da'wah remains scarce. This study aims to analyze how language codes function in Gus Iqdam's multilingual online lectures. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained from two of Gus Iqdam's online lectures uploaded to the YouTube account @gusiqdamofficial1024. The data were obtained using a simak (listening) method with recording and note-taking techniques. The data were then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña framework and applying Roman Jakobson's theory of language functions. The results show that Arabic plays a dominant role in religious-ritual authorization with a dominant phatic and referential function. Indonesian is predominantly used to elaborate on religious texts, with a dominant referential function. Although it is limited, English is used more for modernity, serving a referential, metalingual, and emotive function. Javanese Krama is used more for communication mitigation, with dominant phatic, conative, and poetic functions. Meanwhile, Javanese Ngaka is used more for humor and engagement, with dominant phatic, poetic, and referential functions. This study concludes that Gus Iqdam's multilingual online preaching employs language with distinct roles, grounded in its inherent functions, ranging from ritual authority to humor.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how the Lembak and Javanese communities interact amid significant language differences. The research was conducted in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu, focusing on both verbal and nonverbal interactions in daily life. Language and cultural value differences often pose challenges in intercultural communication. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with members of both ethnic groups. Data analysis was conducted interactively, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal notable differences in verbal language use, specifically lexical ambiguities and "linguistic shock" caused by the distinct phonological endings of the Col dialect, which create initial communication barriers. Strategies to bridge these differences include using Indonesian as a lingua franca, joint language learning, and linguistic adaptation by migrants. Nonverbal communication through body gestures, facial expressions, and intonation also plays a crucial role, although cultural differences, such as the interpretation of direct eye contact as confrontational by Javanese or Javanese silence as indecisiveness by Lembak, can lead to misunderstandings. The study implies that cultural awareness, openness, and adaptive communication skills are key to fostering harmonious social interactions in multicultural societies.

Abstract

This article examines the persuasive communication style in the Qur'an with an emphasis on the dynamics of the stages of revelation, especially in the context of the Makkiyah and Madaniyah periods. This research departs from the assumption that the Qur'an is not only a normative text, but also a divine communication medium that has a persuasion strategy that is adaptive to the social conditions of the ummah. Using a thematic interpretation approach (maudhu'i) and communication analysis, this study traces the patterns of persuasion used in Qur'anic verses, such as narratives, dialogues, parables, threats (tarhīb), good news (targhīb), and rational argumentation. Research shows that the Qur'an has a systematic and adaptive persuasive communication strategy, which is reflected in the integration of ethos, pathos, and logos elements. In the Makkiyah phase, the communication of the Qur'an tends to be emotional and spiritual, while in the Madaniyah phase it is more rational and normative. In addition, the concept of tadarruj shows that the Qur'an applies a gradual communication strategy in shaping social change. This research confirms that the Qur'an can be understood as a contextual and transformative model of persuasive communication, and contributes to the development of interdisciplinary Islamic communication studies.
