Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the static strength of two custom chopper motorcycle frame designs considering various loading cases, including normal loading, maximum acceleration, maximum braking, and 5G gravitational acceleration. The analysis is conducted using a numerical simulation approach with the Finite Element Method (FEM) to measure von Mises stress, displacement, and safety factor. The simulation results show significant differences between the two frame designs. Frame 1 exhibits poorer performance with lower safety factors under 5G gravitational acceleration conditions, displaying very high stress and larger displacements, whereas Frame 2 performs better with a consistently safe safety factor across all loading conditions. This study provides important contributions to the development of safer and more functional custom motorcycle frame designs, considering safety aspects in everyday use and modifications.

Abstract

Some parts of the world, such as Indonesia, are blessed with nature that has abundant water energy potential. Water energy includes water turbines. This paper discusses planning a Kaplan-type water turbine with a capacity of 100 kW. The flow of water through Kaplan's turbines is axial. Water currents theoretically have an effective bulk height called head height, H is at least 5 (five) meters with a minimum theoretical discharge of 4.25 m3/s. The results of the calculation show that this Kaplan-type water turbine can produce maximum power at a theoretical discharge of 166.77 kW. The velocity of water entering the turbine inlet chamber is 3.123 m/s, while the theoretical velocity is 13.48 m/s. The profile of the blade was chosen as type Go 480 with a radius of 450 mm, and the weight of each blade was 91.72 N. The water flow on the spoon causes a blade reaction force of 11,996 N for centrifugal force and 1073 N for axial force. The torque produced from this reaction force is 775 Nm. The next plan is to calculate the force on the blade by calculating the moment of inertia, standard voltage, tensile stress, and shear stress. From the results of this strength calculation, the type of material that will be used in making the spoon can then be determined to ensure that the spoon is in a safe state during its operation but still efficient. Next is the process of making spoons, where the steps start from making patterns, making molds, smelting, and pouring the selected metal materials into the machining process.

Abstract

Clean water is a basic need that cannot be separated from human life. PDAM Tirtawening is only able to fulfill 34.28 percent of the clean water needs of the people of Bandung City. For the other 65.72 percent of Bandung City residents, groundwater is one of the alternatives for residents of Bandung City whose areas do not have flow from the PDAM, as is the case in the Cibiru area of Bandung City. Groundwater conditions in the Cibiru area are divided into 2 groups, namely the ion exchange group & the simple dissolution or mixing group (groundwater undergoes a mixing process) so that the condition of the groundwater is yellow and smells so that it requires a water filter to purify the water. Behind the importance of this water filter lurks the danger if it is not cleaned regularly. The obstacles found in the field are that the water filter cleaning process is still manual, the water filter is not cleaned regularly due to the position of the water filter placement, forgetting to clean and the cleaning process is not practical. The focus of this research is to find out the needs of water filter users (user requirements) and the problems faced by water filter users in the Cibiru area. Researchers used the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to redesign a more effective water filter according to the needs of residents in the Cibiru area of Bandung City. The results of the research using the QFD method obtained 7 service attributes needed by consumers and translated into 13 technical requirements in the House Of Quality (HOQ) and 12 priority ranking of water filter designs in the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) table and obtained a new water filter design with a self cleaning system and can be easily disassembled.

Abstract

The tempeh industry uses soybeans as the main raw material to produce the main product, namely tempeh. Based on observations of the local industry, tempeh production waste in the South Margahayu area is very high, because more than one factory produces tempeh waste. Utilization of waste materials as organic fertilizer is one way to overcome environmental pollution problems. Banana peels contain many substances and are beneficial for plants if processed into liquid organic fertilizer, because banana peels contain 42% potassium so that they can strengthen plant stems, fight diseases, and fertilize plants and flowers and fruit trees. This study uses 1 type of stage, namely the liquid organic fertilizer production process. Testing of liquid organic fertilizers made from liquid tempeh waste and banana peels was carried out to determine the suitability between the levels of macro nutrients produced from the liquid organic fertilizer with the standard quality of liquid organic fertilizers based on SNI. The analysis method in this study uses a quantitative method obtained from the results of measuring the levels of nutrients in raw materials and liquid organic fertilizers. The protein content in the results of the tempeh liquid waste test was 0.48%. The C-Organic content on the 7th day was 1.72%. On the 7th day, the nitrogen produced was 0.10%, phosphorus was 0.07%, and potassium was 0.62%. Based on the results of the study, the optimum fermentation time for the production of organic liquid fertilizers was on the 7th day with a total NPK content of 0.79%, C/N of 20 and C-organic 1.72%. The production of POC from tempeh liquid waste with the addition of banana peels has not produced macronutrient levels that are in accordance with the SNI standards for organic liquid fertilizers so that commercial production cannot be carried out. Many factors influence the process of forming this liquid organic fertilizer, including bioactivators, namely effective microorganisms commonly known as EM-4, temperature, sun intensity, humidity, production time and placement in the fertilizer production process.

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the flexibility of the double needle bar Raschel machine in producing a mesh fabric design that is conventionally manufactured using a single needle bar Tricot machine. The research involved adjusting several parameters on the Raschel machine, including the number of needle bar positions, guide bar spacing, gudie bar shogging, and run-in values, in order to produce mesh fabric comparable to that produced by the Tricot machine. Subsequently, the physical properties of the resulting fabric were evaluated and compared to those of mesh fabric produced by the single needle bar Tricot machine, using ASTM standards. The test results indicate that the mesh fabric prduced using the double needle bar Raschel machine exhibit similar physical properties—including fabric weight (GSM), course per inch (CPI), wale per inch (WPI), thickness, tensile strength, tear strength, abrasion resistance, and bursting strength—to those of the fabric produced by the Tricot machine. These findings were supported by T-test results, which showed no statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) across all measured properties. The findings indicate that modern double-needle Raschel machines are capable of adapting to replicate the output of older single-needle Tricot maschines, offering a viable solution for production continuity when legacy equipment is no longer operational.
