Abstract

Islamic psychotherapy has emerged as a response to the limitations of mainstream psychotherapeutic approaches that tend to adopt secular paradigms and insufficiently accommodate the spiritual dimension of Muslim clients. This article aims to examine and conceptualize the integration of tashfiyah (purification of the soul) and tarbiyah (continuous moral and psychosocial development) as a foundational framework for Islamic psychotherapy. The study employs a qualitative approach using a critical literature review of peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, and systematic reviews in the fields of psychology of religion, mental health, and Islamic counseling. The findings indicate that tashfiyah functions as an intrapersonal therapeutic mechanism addressing spiritual purification, emotional regulation, and meaning reconstruction based on Islamic values, while tarbiyah serves as a preventive and rehabilitative psychosocial framework that sustains psychological change through value internalization and community support. The integration of these two principles results in a holistic and contextually grounded model of Islamic psychotherapy that extends beyond symptom reduction toward the transformation of life orientation and moral character. Nevertheless, this study also highlights the limited availability of empirical evidence supporting the clinical effectiveness of tashfiyah–tarbiyah-based psychotherapy. Further empirical research employing rigorous methodological designs is therefore required to validate the proposed model as an evidence-based practice in contemporary mental health care.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of moral degradation among adolescents in the digital era, which has become increasingly complex and therefore requires the strengthening of theological foundations through Islamic educational institutions. Aqidah Akhlak serves as a fundamental pillar in the formation of religious character. However, field observations indicate that the material on the Twenty Essential Attributes (Sifat Wajib 20) of Allah lacks adequate instructional resources and relies excessively on textual memorization. This condition causes seventh-grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic junior high school) to experience difficulties in internalizing abstract theological concepts into logical, profound, and practical understandings applicable to their daily lives. The primary objective of this study is to design, develop, and evaluate the feasibility of an innovative and adaptive Aqidah Akhlak learning supplement for Madrasah Tsanawiyah students. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The focus of product development lies in integrating rational arguments (dalil ‘aqli) and scriptural arguments (dalil naqli) to stimulate critical thinking while simultaneously strengthening students’ faith through more communicative and contextualized learning materials. Based on the validation results, the product achieved an average score of 82.02% from subject-matter experts, categorized as “Feasible.” Meanwhile, the evaluation from educational practitioners (subject teachers) yielded a score of 93.27%, categorized as “Highly Feasible.” These findings demonstrate that the supplement not only meets rigorous academic standards but also possesses strong practical relevance to the cognitive characteristics of junior secondary students. In conclusion, the implementation of this supplement is effective as a complementary instructional medium capable of enhancing substantive theological under.

Abstract

Traditional markets have a strategic role in the local economy, yet they face increasing competitive pressure due to the rise of modern markets that offer convenience, cleanliness, and service efficiency. This research aims to formulate a competitive advantage strategy for Pasar Jepara I, Jepara Regency, in facing competition from modern markets using the Participatory Appraisal of Competitive Advantage (PACA) approach. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with the PACA approach, involving the active participation of local stakeholders. Data collection was conducted through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation with 17 informants consisting of traders, market managers, consumers, suppliers, and the Jepara Regency Office of Industry and Trade. Data analysis used an interactive model including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity tested through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The research results indicate that Pasar Jepara I has competitive strengths rooted in social capital, personal relationships between traders and buyers, price flexibility through bargaining, the availability of fresh local products, and its inherent cultural value. However, the market's competitiveness is still constrained by inadequate infrastructure, weak collaborative governance, a lack of innovation and technology utilization, and a suboptimal bargaining position with suppliers. This study recommends an integrated strategy encompassing strengthening differentiation based on cultural experience, collective adoption of digital technology, building strategic partnerships with local suppliers, strengthening trader institutions, and improving service quality and market facilities. The participatory PACA-based approach proved effective in exploring local potential and formulating contextual, adaptive, and sustainable strategies to enhance the competitiveness of traditional markets amidst the dominance of modern markets.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how interpersonal communication is carried out by tour guides in providing information to tourists in Palembang City. The research uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving five informants, consisting of three tour guides and two tourists. This study applies George Herbert Mead’s Symbolic Interactionism theory, which includes the elements of Self, Mind, and Society. The findings indicate that the interpersonal communication conducted by tour guides not only serves to convey information but also functions to build social relationships with tourists. These interactions occur in various situations with local tourists, out-of-town visitors, and religious tour groups where differences in social background, age, and travel purpose influence the way communication takes place.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of the study of the Ta’limul Muta’allim book in shaping the morals of students at MAN 1 Surakarta. Islamic education does not only focus on the mastery of knowledge but also emphasizes the development of character and moral values among students. The book Ta’limul Muta’allim, written by Imam Az-Zarnuji, is one of the classical Islamic texts widely studied in pesantren as a guide to the ethics of seeking knowledge. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving dormitory leaders, teachers of the Ta’limul Muta’allim book, supervisors, and students living in the dormitory of MAN 1 Surakarta. The results of the study show that the study of the Ta’limul Muta’allim book plays a strategic role in shaping students’ moral character by instilling ethical values in the pursuit of knowledge, such as sincere intention, humility (tawadhu’), moral caution (wira’i), and respect for teachers, knowledge, and fellow students. The learning process is implemented through the bandungan method, which allows students to understand the classical text while internalizing the moral values contained in it. The implementation of these values is strengthened through teachers’ exemplary behavior, daily habituation in dormitory life, and a behavioral evaluation system for students. Although several challenges exist, such as limited Arabic language comprehension among new students and the psychological dynamics of adolescence, the study of the Ta’limul Muta’allim book is generally considered effective in supporting the moral development of students in a pesantren-based madrasah environment.

Abstract

This study examines the management of school facilities and infrastructure (sarana dan prasarana/sarpras) based on Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (Keamanan, Keselamatan, Kesehatan, dan Lingkungan Sekolah/K3L) through a comparative approach at SMP Islam Andalusia, a pesantren-based school, and SMP Muhammadiyah Kebasen, a non-pesantren school, both located in Kebasen District, Banyumas Regency. The study aims to describe and analyze four dimensions of the K3L management cycle planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation across both institutions. A descriptive qualitative comparative method was employed, with data collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, systematic field observation, and document analysis. Data sources were selected using purposive sampling, involving school principals, vice principals for facilities, teachers, and students, as well as official school documents. Data analysis followed the thematic analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal that SMP Islam Andalusia implements a more structured, proactive, and well-documented K3L cycle compared to SMP Muhammadiyah Kebasen, which remains largely reactive and has yet to fully institutionalize its K3L management system. This difference is not primarily attributable to budget disparities, but rather to the internalization of Islamic values and the pesantren habitus, which organically cultivates a culture of discipline, order, and environmental cleanliness. The study concludes that the effectiveness of facility management based on K3L is fundamentally determined by the extent to which safety values have become an integral part of a school's institutional identity and culture. Accordingly, schools that have not yet adopted a systematic K3L cycle need to strengthen their planning, monitoring, and data-driven evaluation systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the patterns of interpersonal communication between police officers and the community in police patrol activities in Keban Agung District, Lahat Regency. Interpersonal communication is an important element in building closeness, trust, and cooperation between the police and the community in maintaining public security and order. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving police officers and community members who were directly engaged in or interacted with patrol activities. The findings show that the interpersonal communication patterns established during police patrols were direct, dialogic, persuasive, and situational. Police officers not only delivered messages related to security and public order, but also developed closer relationships with the community through a humanistic approach, the use of easily understood language, and interactions adjusted to the social characteristics of the local community. Such communication contributed to increasing the community’s sense of security, strengthening public trust in the police, and encouraging community participation in maintaining environmental safety. However, this study also found several communication barriers, including differences in perception, limited interaction time, and uneven levels of community participation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen interpersonal communication strategies in a more consistent, participatory, and sustainable manner so that police patrol activities function not only as a form of security monitoring, but also as a means of building social partnership between the police and the community.

Abstract

The rapid development of the digital economy and social media has fundamentally transformed the landscape of global economic interactions. However, this transformation has also triggered serious ethical issues, such as the prevalence of online fraud, aggressive materialist practices, loss of privacy, and the erosion of social cohesion due to unhealthy competition. This study aims to analyze the relevance of Muhammad Nejatullah Siddiqi's thoughts on social ethics and economic spirituality as a solution to the moral crisis in the context of the current digital era. This research utilizes a qualitative descriptive method with a library research approach, where data is collected from Siddiqi’s primary works and analyzed using content analysis to be contextualized with contemporary digital phenomena. The results indicate that Siddiqi's conceptual framework-anchored in Tawhid (unity of God), Adl (distributive justice), and Ukhuwah (universal brotherhood)-serves as a critical framework for mitigating the negative impacts of digital transactions. In this perspective, economic activities on social media must not merely act to maximize material profit but must also uphold spiritual values and the common good (maslahah). Siddiqi emphasizes that economic spirituality functions as an effective internal control mechanism to prevent exploitative and manipulative behavior. The study concludes that integrating Siddiqi’s ethical perspective into digital economic literacy is urgent to create a business ecosystem that is not only technologically efficient but also healthy, just, and humane.
