Abstract

This research adopts a qualitative descriptive design to explain and depict the characteristics of the Bandrong Lisung motif in Batik Cikadu. Using a descriptive approach, the research explores the meanings of the motif without strict limitations and employs qualitative methods to understand the visual language and meanings within the motif, focusing on the semantic script and cognitive aspects. The Bandrong Lisung motif in Batik Cikadu serves as a visualization of the gratitude of the Pandeglang community towards the rice harvesting activities. As a representation of rural life, this motif honors the role of agriculture in local culture, symbolizing gratitude for abundant harvests with profound spiritual and social significance.The analysis of movements in the Banderong Lesung Dance reveals symbolism in each gesture, creating a portrayal of rural life and expressing the cultural richness of agrarian society. Facial expressions and body movements provide emotional dimensions and cognitive language that connect the audience to everyday life. The aesthetic elements of the Banderong Lesung Dance, including color, motifs, and costumes, convey symbolic meanings associated with nature and agriculture. Accessories such as cloth and head ornaments play a crucial role in the semantic script, conveying deep cultural messages. The Banderong Lesung Dance creates a distinctive atmosphere through its musical style, rhythm, and tempo, enriching the audience's experience. The analysis of space and backgrounds highlights the importance of visual elements in the performance context, deepening the cultural meaning of the dance. As a local heritage, the Banderong Lesung Dance is not merely a dance but a form of preserving values and cultural identity. This analysis illustrates how the Pandeglang community preserves the authenticity of this dance as an inseparable part of their cultural heritage, making it more than just a performance art but a living legacy connecting them to their cultural roots.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the obstacles of foreigners in speaking Indonesian in the fields of linguistics and nonlinguistics. This study aims to (1) describe the form of errors in the field of sentences, and (2) to describe nonlinguistic barriers that include aspects of culture and motivation. The data were provided by observing methods with tapping techniques and in-depth interviews. The advanced technique used is the note-taking technique. The data analysis technique was carried out using the equivalent method with the basic technique of sorting the determinants and advanced techniques of comparative links. From this study it was found that (1) sentence errors occurred in sentence structure including functions and categories, and (2) nonlinguitic barriers that included cultural and motivational aspects.

Abstract

Consumers who are dissatisfied tend to often share negative messages through review forums. This will have a serious impact on seller performance and profitability. Complaints from online buyers should be considered as an opportunity to improve quality or restore service for sellers (sellers). This research aims to determine the form of speech acts in e-commerce platform reviews. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological design. The results of this research reveal that there are 3 forms of speech acts from the 15 speech data used as study material. Based on the description of the research findings, it was found that assertive speech acts took the form of complaints; directive speech acts in the form of requests; and expressive speech acts in the form of praise.

Abstract

This study aims to determine empirically the relationship of student attitudes toward Indonesian course and vocabulary comprehension with writing exposition competence in class X SMAN 4 Serang City. The study was conducted on the students of class X of the even semester of the academic year 2016/2017. The research method used in this research is survey method with correlational study approach. The population of this study is all students of class X SMAN 4 Serang City in the even semester of the academic year 2016/2017 which amounted to 428 students. Class X is chosen because in this class students have been given the subject of exposition texts. The data collection in this study is to use test instruments and questionnaires. Based on the results of research and discussion, can be drawn conclusion on the results of research as follows: 1) There is a positive and significant relationship between students attitudes toward Indonesian course with writing exposition competence; 2) There is a positive and significant relationship between vocabulary comprehension and writing exposition competence; and 3) There is a positive and significant relationship between students attitudes toward Indonesian course and vocabulary comprehension together with writing exposition.

Abstract

Results Based on research and discussion on the analysis of the various meanings and messages contained in the song entitled December by the Efek Rumah Kaca band, it can be said that the song December contains six semantic meanings and has the deepest message that is stellar. The six types of meanings contained in the lyrics of the December song are lexical meaning, connotative meaning, referential meaning, non-referential meaning, associative meaning, and proverb meaning. In several types of meanings that have been discussed in the discussion, the connotative meaning  is the meaning that is most commonly found in the lyrics of the December song, which is as many as four pieces of data. Other types of meanings include one data lexical meaning, one referential meaning, one non-referential meaning, two associative meanings, and the last meaning of proverbs is two pieces of data. The message contained is that we as living beings must always be grateful for whatever circumstances we do in our lives. Because with certainty and confidence, all the problems of our life pass quickly and believe that every day and pain there will always be happiness and a better life awaits in the future.

Abstract

This study examines language errors at the spelling level in Anwar Sanjaya Pigano's Instagram posts. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of language errors in 13 of Anwar Sanjaya Pigano's Instagram posts, particularly in the area of spelling, which include errors in writing non-standard words and errors in the use of punctuation that do not comply with Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan (EYD V). The research method used is descriptive with qualitative data analysis techniques. The data source used in this study is the captions in Anwar Sanjaya Pigano's Instagram posts. The results show the forms of language errors at the spelling level, both in terms of non-standard word writing and errors in punctuation usage that do not comply with Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan (EYD V). The conclusion of this study is that there are language errors in Anwar Sanjaya Pigano's Instagram posts in 2023, in the form of non-standard word writing and the use of punctuation that does not comply with the Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan (EYD V).

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential competencies that students must master in the global era, which is filled with challenges. One of the rapidly growing educational media is the E-book, offering high flexibility and interactivity to support independent learning. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of E-book usage in enhancing critical reading skills among early-year students. The research employs a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design applied to two groups: a control group using printed books and an experimental group using E-books. Data were collected through critical reading ability tests and student participation questionnaires. The results indicate that students using E-books showed a significant improvement in critical reading skills compared to the control group. Additionally, E-books were found to increase reading interest and student engagement in the learning process through interactive features provided. However, challenges such as access to digital devices and technological literacy remain. Therefore, appropriate strategies are needed to optimize E-book use as a learning medium in higher education. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for developing relevant curricula in the digital era and strengthening the integration of technology in the learning process.

Abstract

Akuisi atau pemerolehan bahasa pada anak kerapkali dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan sekitar. Beragam hiburan tontonan yang disuguhkan pada anak ikut pula membentuk dan memengaruhi mereka. Hal tersebut menjadi dasar peniruan bagi anak untuk mengikuti ujaran, dialog, tingkah laku, dan mengaplikasikannya ke dalam realitas kehidupan kesehariannya. Data diambil dari anak berusia 3-5 tahun yang tinggal di Komplek Guru SMA Pesantren Unggul Al Bayan Anyer, Kabupaten Serang – Banten. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Tahap pengumpulan data, menggunakan metode simak, yaitu menyimak ujaran anak-anak yang diperoleh atas menonton Youtube Kids. Oleh sebab itu penelitian ini berkenaan dengan akuisisi bahasa anak yang disebabkan oleh keterbatasan mereka dalam mengadaptasi informasi berupa bahasa.

Abstract

This study examines taboos on language taboos within the scope of the Pilgrimage Tradition in the Sanghiyang Sirah Environment Ujung Kulon. The problem studied is looking for taboo forms and uncovering the meanings implicit in language taboos. The aim of the research is to find out the forms of taboos and to find out the meaning implied in the language taboo that exists within the scope of the pilgrimage tradition in the Sanghiyang Sirah Ujung Kulon environment. The method used is the listening method and the speaking method. The collection technique in this study used the basic technique of tapping, then continued with advanced techniques, namely; speaking engagement technique, note-taking and recording techniques. The time for data collection was from January 2021 to August 2022 at the Legon Pakis Ujung Kulon Resort, Legon Pakis Village, Sumur District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten, Karang Ranjang, Legon Pakis Village, Sumur District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten, and the Sanghiyang Sirah Ujung Kulon looting site. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data identification, data classification, data selection, and data interpretation. Analysis of Language Taboos in the Pilgrimage Tradition in the Sanghiyang Sirah Ujung Kulon Environment is motivated by a feeling of fear and for the sake of comfort when visiting pilgrimage sites. How to Avoid Language Taboos Within the Pilgrimage Tradition In the Sanghiyang Sirah Ujung Kulon Environment, some use euphemisms and metaphors.

Abstract

The fact in the world of work, system changes continue to be made by companies in order to adapt to current conditions. However, the changes made actually make everyone involved exhausted. Coupled with the tension, fear, and struggle within the current young generation. So society, especially young people, needs to have strong competence and character to face the new world. So the result of the rapid change called the Vuca era. In relation to this, this study aims to prepare the younger generation, especially students, to be able to face the Vuca era by prioritizing the quality of character education through digital literature that is relevant to the mastery of literary writing courses in universities. The method used is qualitative descriptive. The results show that through the subject of writing literature based on digital literature, students gain learning experiences that can build character education to prepare them to face the Vuca era. It can be concluded that from all the elements contained in the literary writing course such as course descriptions, learning achievements, to the core material of the literary writing course, it is relevant to the concept of digital literature which aims to study literature in accordance with the development of world technology and this productive nature can dispel concerns about facing the VUCA era. This means that by productively writing literature on social media, you will become accustomed to new experiences, new situations, social symptoms through writing, always paying attention to requests for writing ideas, writing styles that are in demand by readers of each generation. So that it becomes a solution to the concerns and pessimistic feelings of the younger generation in facing the VUCA Era.
