Abstract

The paddy rice commodity, which is in high demand in the Ladongi Village and has a price that is regarded as more stable in the market than the fluctuating prices of other agricultural commodities, served as the inspiration for this study. The lowland rice farming group in Ladongi Village consists of 32 farmer groups, the majority of which have engaged in seven agricultural pursuits. The research aims to determine the role of lowland rice farmer groups and to determine the application of Sapta lowland rice farming in Ladongi Village, Ladongi District, East Kolaka Regency. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with proportional random sampling with a total sample of 42 people. The results of this study indicate that the role of lowland rice farmer groups in Ladongi Village has a good role as a learning class, a vehicle for collaboration, and a production unit. Then the application of sapta farming in Ladongi Village is included in the high category or has been carried out well. This can be seen from the height of the seven indicators of farming, namely superior seeds, land management, fertilization, pest and disease control, irrigation, harvesting, and post-harvest which have shown high application.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of sustainable agriculture principles in paddy rice farming in Cialam Jaya village, Konda sub-district, South Konawe district. Informants were determined by snowball sampling with a total of 6 informants. The method in this study uses qualitative analysis, as for the analysis used in this study, namely: data reduction, data analysis and data interpretation. The results showed that the application of the principles of sustainable agriculture on wet-rice farming in the village was at the adaptation stage, but not yet fully sustainable. Farmers have implemented several principles such as crop diversification, integrated pest control, and the use of organic fertilizers, but still depend on the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. More intensive efforts are needed to improve the overall application of sustainable agriculture principles in order to achieve sustainability of food production, environmental protection and improvement of farmers' welfare.

Abstract

The quantity of waste generated by households is on the rise, yet the capacity of Kendari City to manage existing waste is diminishing. In order to facilitate the implementation of suitable measures for the processing of waste, it is essential to ensure that the community possesses the requisite competence. The objective of this study is to evaluate the competence of the processing of household waste into organic fertilizer in Kendari City. This study employs a qualitative research methodology. The research informants were selected using the purposive sampling technique, resulting in a total of one informant. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis with the assistance of interview guides created for this purpose. The data were analyzed qualitatively using the theory proposed by Miles & Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that competence in processing household waste into organic fertilizer in Kendari City is evident in the knowledge, attitudes, and skills possessed by the community in managing household waste into a useful and beneficial product such as organic fertilizer (search and solid). Effective waste management can facilitate a comprehensive and efficient approach that can positively impact the community in terms of health and the environment. Furthermore, it has the potential to serve as a source of income for the community. The processing of organic waste into organic fertilizer comprises six stages: collection and chopping of organic waste, mixing of organic waste into a composter, addition of MOL, closure of the composter, addition of organic waste and a second MOL, and sitting/fermentation of organic waste for 7 to 12 days.

Abstract

This study aims to ascertain the social capital and managerial capacity of farmers, as well as to determine the influence of the social model on the managerial capacity of corn farmers in Umba Village, Napano Kusambi Subdistrict, West Muna Regency. The research population comprises all individuals engaged in the cultivation of corn in Umba Village, amounting to a total of 32 individuals. The sample was selected using the census method, resulting in a sample size of 32 respondents for this study. Data were collected through observation, surveys, and structured interviews, with the use of a questionnaire. This study employed a quantitative approach. The variables under investigation are divided into two categories: social capital and managerial capacity among farmers. The data were subjected to two distinct forms of analysis. Initially, a quantitative descriptive analysis was conducted utilising the class interval formula to delineate the prevailing conditions pertaining to social capital and managerial capacity among maize farmers. Subsequently, a multiple linear regression analysis was employed to ascertain the influence of social capital on the managerial capacity of maize farmers. The multiple linear regression analysis is comprised of three tests: the T-test, F-test, and determination test. The findings indicate that the utilization of social capital among corn farmers in Umba Village is classified as favorable. This is evidenced by the presence of a robust level of trust, a commendable application of norms, and a relatively strong network of social connections. The managerial capacity of maize farmers is categorized as good, as evidenced by their effective maize farm planning and organization. However, there are areas for improvement, particularly in the dimensions of maize farming implementation and supervision, which remain in the poor category. Social capital has a significant positive effect on the managerial capacity of maize farmers, amounting to 29.1%, with 70.9% influenced by other factors.

The growth of mining companies in Konawe Islands is certainly inseparable from community rejection. The purpose of this study is to: determine and analyze the types, causes, and resolution of conflicts between mining companies and the community on agricultural land in Roko-Roko Village, Southeast Wawonii District, which have the potential for conflict between the Company and the community. The informants used in this research are: farmers, village government, sub-district government, police, and NGOs. Abstract

The process of delivering information carried out by agricultural extension workers to vegetable farmers requires an appropriate communication pattern to increase the level of knowledge of target farmers. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between communication patterns of agricultural extension workers and vegetable farmers in Tobuuha Village. The study population consisted of all vegetable farmers in Tobuuha Village, which amounted to 20 farmers and one field agricultural extension worker. The research sample was determined by the census method, resulting in a sample size of 21 individuals. Data were collected through survey techniques, interviews, and the use of documentation, with the assistance of media in the form of questionnaires. This study is a quantitative research study. The data were processed using descriptive analysis through the use of the class interval formula and correlation analysis through the Spearman Rank formula, with the help of SPSS Software Version 26. The research findings indicate that the communication patterns of agricultural extension workers with vegetable farmers in Tobuuha Village encompass one-way, two-way, and multi-directional communication patterns. One-way communication patterns and multi-way communication patterns are classified as medium, while two-way communication patterns are classified as high. The level of knowledge of vegetable farmers is classified as medium based on indicators of understanding, application, and analysis. While the level of knowledge of vegetable farmers based on indicators of knowing is in the low category, the relationship between communication patterns of agricultural extension workers and the level of knowledge of vegetable farmers is statistically significant (0.046) and positive (0.691). This indicates that the more effective the communication patterns employed by agricultural extension workers, the greater the likelihood of increased knowledge among vegetable farmers.
