Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of fertilizer delivered to farmers in Baruga Village, Kendari City, with a subsidy. To evaluate the point, the five principles (5T) are used: the appropriate place, the appropriate type, the appropriate quantity, the appropriate time, and the reasonable price. Information was gathered from 24 farmers who received government-subsidized fertilizer through a questionnaire. The sample size is determined by simple random sampling, 10% of the number of farmers receiving subsidized fertilizer, or 240 farms. The percentage of correct responses for each of the five principles was calculated to examine the data. In Kelurahan Baru, Kendari City, the effectiveness of subsidized fertilizer delivery was judged to be 67.50 percent. Baruga was chosen as the research site because it received the most subsidized fertilizers at the district/city level in Southeast Sulawesi.

Abstract

Background: Seawater intrusion refers to the infiltration of seawater into groundwater, either naturally or artificially, due to the extraction of groundwater for domestic purposes. Seawater intrusion can have wide-ranging impacts on various aspects of life, including health issues, reduced soil fertility, structural damage, and groundwater contamination. In the Kendari District area, people rely on springs, dug wells, and drilled wells to fulfill their daily water needs, as well as for tourist and commercial activities. However, signs of seawater intrusion become evident when the water used by residents in the area becomes brackish or even saline. Objective: This study was to determine the distribution pattern of seawater intrusion and chloride zones in the coastal area of Kendari District, specifically within Kendari City, Indonesia. Methods: This study employed a descriptive research design and utilized purposive sampling to select the subjects. A total of 20 water samples were collected from residents in Kendari District, Kendari City. The research was conducted at various wells within the district. The collected data were then entered into a Geographic Information System (GIS) to analyze the distribution pattern of seawater intrusion and chloride zones in the coastal area of Kendari District, Kendari City. Results: The findings revealed an average pH of 7.11 (ranging from 5 to 8.8), an average temperature of 29.4°C (ranging from 29.4 to 32.7°C), an average Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) level of 590.25 mg/L (ranging from 54 to 1,388 mg/L), and an average salinity of 3.05‰ (ranging from 1 to 5‰). Conclusion: Based on these results, it can be concluded that seawater intrusion is classified as low and is not affecting the wells used by residents in the coastal area of Kendari District, Kendari City, Indonesia.

Abstract

The marine and fisheries sector is one of the priority regional development programs to realize food sovereignty in supporting various other development sectors. Therefore, the Government continues to boost the maritime and fisheries sector because it has an important role in realizing economic independence, especially in Southeast Sulawesi. In 2023, fisheries production was recorded at 268,000 tons or an increase from the previous number of 253,359 tons in 2022. Bungkotoko Village is one of the coastal areas in Kendari City with the majority of the population working in the fisheries sector, around 29% of the total population, so marine products are source of income for the community. The majority of fishermen in Bungkutoko are men, and the role of female fishermen in economic activities is still minimal. Tuna is one type of fish that is abundant in Bungkutoko waters. However, the price is relatively fluctuating and is easily damaged so it needs to be processed so that its value is more durable and profitable. One of the promising preparations is to make shredded tuna fish. This product diversification aims to meet the diverse and growing tastes of consumers so that there are always alternatives and refreshing menus, in this way market saturation can be overcome. The aim of this service activity is for the women fishermen group to know about innovations in how to process shredded tuna fish with less capital because it does not use coconut milk so that the shelf life can be longer, there will be an increase in the skill/ability of the partner group to manage and develop their business and produce highly competitive products. The implementation method consists of stages: socialization, counseling, training (practice), and evaluation. Through this activity, it is hoped that it can increase household income as an effort to increase the family's economic independence.

Abstract

The aims of this study was to identify the potential distribution of land for developing food crops, and to analyze the types of local food crops that have the potential to be developed in Kaledupa District. The research data is primary data through direct observation and interviews with stakeholders, namely agricultural service officials, coconut villages, farmers, heads of farmer groups, and researchers. Data analysis is a descriptive approach and GIS (Geographic Information System) analysis to describe land potential, and the Analytical Hierarchy Process to determine priority food crops. The results of the analysis of the potential land for food crops are known to be spread over 12 village areas with a total potential land area of 957.68 ha. The dominant existing food crops are found in seven village areas namely Ollo, Balasuna, Balasuna Selatan, Laulua, Horuo, Kalimas and Sombano. The priority criterion for developing food crops is market demand with a weight value of 0.409, while the priority scale for food crops is cassava with a weight value of 0.352. The development of food crop agriculture should be adapted to the potential of land resources and local commodities, thereby helping efforts to increase production and farmer welfare
