Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of hypnobirthing relaxation on the anxiety level of primigravida mothers in the third trimester in facing labor preparation. The method used was quasi-experimental research involving 20 primigravida mothers selected through random sampling technique. The intervention was carried out by providing hypnobirthing sessions, and anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HRS-A) before and after the intervention. The main results showed that there was a significant effect of hypnobirthing relaxation on reducing anxiety levels, with a p value = 0.001, which indicates that this intervention is effective in reducing anxiety in pregnant women. The practical implication of this study is that hypnobirthing can be used as a useful method to help primigravida mothers overcome anxiety before childbirth, so it is recommended for health workers to integrate this technique in childbirth preparation programs.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of watermelon consumption in reducing hypertension in pregnant women at Nurlina Independent Practice Midwife, Kampung Baru, Bukit Kapur, Dumai City. Hypertension in pregnant women is a significant health problem, which can have a negative impact on maternal and fetal health. The research design used was pre-experimental with a one-group pre-post test approach, involving 20 pregnant women respondents who experienced hypertension. Data were collected through blood pressure measurements before and after the intervention of watermelon consumption for 7 days, with data analysis using paired t-test statistical test to determine significant differences between pre-test and post-test values. The results showed that there was a significant reduction in blood pressure after watermelon consumption, with mean systolic blood pressure reduced from 140 mmHg to 120 mmHg (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that watermelon may be an effective dietary intervention for managing hypertension in pregnant women. The implications of the results of this study suggest that watermelon consumption can be considered as part of a strategy to prevent and manage hypertension in maternal health practice, and can be a recommendation for health policy to increase awareness of the importance of a healthy diet during pregnancy.

Abstract

In 2022, WHO (World Hearth Organization) found that infant mortality rate was 560,000 caused by umbilical cord infection. In Southeast Asian countries, it is estimated that there are 220,000 infant deaths caused by unclean umbilical cord care. Umbilical cord care is to treat and tie the umbilical cord which causes physical separation of mother and baby. Then, the umbilical cord is treated in a clean condition and free from umbilical cord infection. Good and correct umbilical cord care will have a positive impact, namely the umbilical cord will "fall off" on the 5th to 7th day without any complications, while the negative impact of improper umbilical cord care is that the baby will experience neonatal tetanus and can result in death. The study was conducted in February – April 2025. This study is an Analytical Correlation study, namely to determine the mother's knowledge about umbilical cord care in babies aged 0-14 days. The population in this study were all postpartum mothers who had babies aged 0-14 days at the Delima clinic with 30 respondents. From the results of the study conducted, it can be concluded that from 30 respondents who had good knowledge, there were 6 respondents (20%), who had sufficient knowledge, 11 respondents (36.67%) and who had poor knowledge, 13 respondents (43.33%). It is expected that health workers, especially midwives, will provide counseling on umbilical cord care for babies aged 0-14 days.
