Abstract

Prolonged labor duration is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Prenatal exercise has been shown to affect labor but has very low effectiveness on labor duration. Salat has been shown to affect fitness and health and has a rehabilitative impact. Maryam prenatal exercise is a modification of basic movements of prenatal exercises with postural bowing, sitting, and prostration in salat accompanied with dhikr. This study aims to prove the effect of Maryam prenatal exercise on pregnant mothers on the strength of contraction and labor duration. This study is a true experiment with a control group and a post-test-only design approach. The research was conducted at the Independent Midwife Practice at Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta on 2019. The sample amounted to 24 primigravida mothers with gestational age of > 32 weeks (1 sample dropout), and divided into control and intervention groups determined by randomization with a single-blinded approach. The intervention was conducted 3 times a week for 4 weeks, and the control group with basic prenatal exercises. This study showed the result that Maryam prenatal exercises have a significant effect on the 1st stage (p=0.000), the 2nd stage (p=0.000), and the strength of contraction (p=0.003). This study has no significant effect on the 3rd Stage of labor duration.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by high blood sugar levels due to disruption of insulin function, which can cause death, so it needs to be treated. Point of Care Test (POCT) is a commonly used examination method. However, the POCT's tool is difficult to be accessed by all people and causes pain in the sampling process. Therefore, it is necessary to develop alternatives test without the puncture process and using simple tools found in daily life. Education is needed to increase public awareness of diabetes. In this study, a qualitative measurement method of salivary pH was developed to indicate increased blood sugar levels using secang wood called Yucang strip e-tutor equipped with a website containing information about diabetes, Yucang strip, and health facilities in Bali. This study aimed to determine the usefulness of Yucang e-tutors in primary care in diabetes cases. The research was descriptive in the form of an analysis of the difference in strip color between respondents with normal and high sugar levels. The sample of this study was 20 people, consisting of ten normal people and ten people with diabetes. Statistical analysis of diabetes and non-diabetes respondents showed a significant difference (p<0.05) in strip color. Respondents' assessment of the Yucang e-tutor obtained an average score of 4.66 out of 5, indicating that the respondents like the website. It can be concluded that the e-tutor-based Yucang strip is helpful in primary health care efforts against diabetes mellitus with education as health promotion, strip test as early detection, and facilitating respondents access to contact health facilities.

Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1,769,425 people (90%) were found to suffer from dysmenorrhea (WHO, 2019). In Indonesia, the prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea reaches 54.89% (Pangestu, 2020). In Bengkulu, the prevalence of Dysmenorrhea is 82% (Ministry of Education and Culture of Bengkulu City, 2022). The design used in this research is observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were 7th grade students at SMPN 02 Bengkulu City, totaling 186 students, the largest number of female students compared to other junior high schools. Samples were taken using total sampling for all 7th grade students who experienced dysmenorrhea, and for the rest using random sampling with clusters. This research method uses the Chi-square test and Logistic Regression. The results of the Chi-square test showed that the p-value of knowledge with primary dysmenorrhea was 0.000<0.05, meaning there was a relationship between knowledge and primary dysmenorrhea, fast food consumption with primary dysmenorrhea 0.000<0.05, meaning there was a relationship between fast food consumption and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea, and exercise habits and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea 0.000 <0.05 means there is a relationship between the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea. The results of multivariate analysis show that the factor that most influences the incidence of dysmenorrhea is consumption of fast food with a value of p = 0.000; OR: 9.518 (2.972-30.486) meaning that fast food consumption has an influence of 9 times on the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem that is of concern to the government and the public because its prevalence is still quite high. The role of the mother and food intake are also very important in preventing stunting. Many factors influence the incidence of stunting. So it needs an in-depth study to find out the incidence of stunting. This study aims to find out and examine more deeply the influence of mother’s knowledge about nutrition and stunting, and intake of protein and iron for children with stunting incidence. This qualitative study was conducted in Sumber Jaya Village, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia, in 2023. The data study was collected using in-depth interviews, documentation, and observation. Informants consists of parents of children who have non-stunted and stunted in this research. The results showed that the knowledge of parents of children with non-stunted had good nutritional knowledge, knowledge of stunting sufficient, adequate intake of protein and iron. While the knowledge of parents of children with stunting had good nutritional knowledge, lower knowledge of stunting, and inadequate intake of protein and iron. This shows that nutritional knowledge alone is not enough to improve children's nutritional status, but knowledge about stunting and intake of protein and iron also affects to improve the nutritional status of children.
