Abstract

Indonesia as an oil producing country also produces processed palm oil waste known as palm oil-mill effluent (POME). The main problem with POME is the high levels of COD in waters. The purpose of this research was to measure the acceleration of POME biodegradation after intervention with the administration of Phosphate and Nitrogen by measuring the COD value. The research was experimental with a One–Group Pretest-Posttest Design approach. The results showed that there was an accelerated biodegradation reduction in COD content with the highest dose ratio percentage N2:P4 with a value of 52.80% after treatment with the addition of various doses of nitrogen and phosphate to blanks for 30 days; and there was an accelerated biodegradation reduction in COD content with the highest dose ratio percentage N4:P2 with a value of 62.41% after the addition of various doses of nitrogen and phosphate to the blank for 40 days. It is recommended that future researchers use other dosage variants to determine the possibility of better acceleration of biodegradation.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease. Hypertension is a major problem in Indonesian society, its prevalence increases from year to year so that it becomes a serious problem. The role of cadres is needed in overcoming hypertension, cadres are formed to bridge health programs from health center to residents, therefore cadres have a very strategic role to disseminate health information. The purpose of this study was to determine how the role of posbindu cadres in hypertension detection in the working area of the Nusa Indah Health Center, Bengkulu City. This study uses qualitative research method with in-depth interview techniques. The method used in this research is a descriptive method used to examine a human group, an object, a condition, a system of thought, Informants in this study were 10 cadres as main informants and 2 health worker as supporting informants in the working area of health center Nusa Indah Bengkulu City. The results of this study can be concluded that the role of cadres that runs optimally is the role of cadres as coordinators and the role of cadres as actsivators. Cadres are not given responsibilities in accordance with the 5 tasks of the posbindu cadre role because there is no posbindu structure, cadres only assist posbindu activities but do not hold their respective roles. It is recommended that health service agencies divide cadre tasks according to the posbindu manual so that cadres can carry out their duties in accordance with the 5 roles of posbindu cadres.

Abstract

Nutmeg seed extract (Myristica fragrans Houtt) contains myristicin which have been an anti-inflammatory effect. Nutmeg seed extract is formulated into transdermal patch to avoid the first pass effect. This study was aimed to determine the best nutmeg extract patch transdermal formula using HPMC and EC as polymers. In this study, nutmeg extract was obtained by kinetic maceration method using 96% ethanol. The patch formula was designed into two formulas that have different types of polymer with a concentration of 4.5%, namely FP1 with HPMC polymer and FP2 with EC polymer. Patches that were evaluated for physical properties included organoleptics, weight uniformity, patch thickness, folding resistance test, drying shrinkage, absorbency test and pH. The results showed that FP1 had good organoleptic (elastic shape and even brown color); Uneven weight and thickness (SD < 0.05); Folding endurance test of 300 X; drying shrinkage 25%; absorption capacity of 8.1% and pH 6. Meanwhile, FP2 appears to have poor organoleptic properties (wrinkled shape and uneven brown color; uneven weight (SD < 0.05); uneven thickness (SD > 0.05); test folding resistance of 100 X, drying shrinkage 22.5%; absorption capacity of 20.2% and pH 6. In this study it can be concluded that FP1 with HPMC was the best formula for transdermal patch containing ethanol extract of nutmeg seeds.

Abstract

The low level of per capita fish consumption among Indonesian communities is attributed to two factors linked to weak supply and low demand. Beledang fish or Cutlass fish (Trichiurus lepturus) is one type of sea fish with high nutritional value but low consumer appeal. This study aims to determine the sensory acceptability of Beledang fish cookies. The materials required for this cookies manufacturing comprised Beledang fish flour, wheat flour, margarine, butter, fine sugar, eggs, lemon, skim milk, cornstarch, baking powder, and palm sugar. A completely randomized design (CRD) was employed for this study, with different proportions: 40%, 50%, and 60% of Beledang fish. The production of Beledang fish flour involves several steps. Firstly, 1000 grams of Beledang fish is cleaned by removing the gills and washed with flowing water. Subsequently, the fish is steamed for 10 minutes. Afterward, the fish meat is separated from the bones and dried using an oven at a temperature of 50oC for 5 h. The dried fish meat is finely ground and sifted through a mesh with a size of 60. From 1000 grams of raw Beledang fish, approximately 130 grams of flour is obtained. The organoleptic tests showed the most preferred colour, taste, texture, and aroma for cookies were found in the formulation with a 60% of Beledang fish. There were significant differences between organoleptic properties of the cookies at 40%, 50%, and 60% Beledang fish cookies (p<0.05).
