Abstract

Islamic finance in Indonesia in recent years has continued to increase, and the issuance of Sukuk dominates the growth of Islamic finance. However, when viewed from the distribution of corporate Sukuk, growth is lower than state Sukuk. One of the causes of the joint development of corporate Sukuk is the changing macroeconomic factors in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of macroeconomic variables, namely inflation (consumer price index); GDP (gross domestic product); JUB (money supply); and exchange rate (exchange rate) on corporate Sukuk in Indonesia from 2015.7-2020.12. This study uses the Error Correction Model analysis method using Eviews-10 software. This study processes data monthly in the order of July 2015 to October 2020. The results of this study indicate that inflation has a negative and significant effect on the issuance of corporate Sukuk. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Total Money Supply (JUB), in a broad sense (M2), have a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, the exchange rate in this study does not affect the issuance of corporate Sukuk in Indonesia.

Abstract

This Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam is a province with the highest percentage of Muslim population in Indonesia. This is accompanied by the special privilege given to Aceh to implement local regulations in the form of Qanun LKS, which regulates financial institutions based on Islamic Sharia principles. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that determine the profitability level of Sharia-based Rural Banks (BPR Syariah) in Aceh province, as well as the effect of Qanun LKS regulations. The data used in this study is panel data with a period from 2012 to 2021. The estimation method used is pooled OLS with a random effects model. The results of this study indicate that the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Financing to Deposite Ratio (FDR) have a positive influence on profitability, as represented by Return on Assets (ROA), of Sharia-based Rural Banks in Aceh province. On the other hand, Operating Expenses and Operating Income (BOPO) have a negative impact on profitability. However, the Non Performing Finance (NPF) variable and the Qanun LKS dummy variable are not significant in influencing the profitability of Sharia-based Rural Banks in Aceh province.

Abstract

This The objective of this research is to analyze the partial and simultaneous effects ZIS (zakat, infaq, and sadaqah) distribution, inflation, and exchange rate on economic growth in Indonesia during the 2016-2021 period. This quantitative study uses time-series secondary data during the span of 2016 to 2021, which was analyzed using multiple linear regression and classical assumption test. The results indicate that ZIS distribution, inflation, and exchange rate partially have positive and significant effects on economic growth in Indonesia and that they simultaneously have significant impacts on economic growth in Indonesia. Further, the adjusted R2 value demonstrates that the three variables above are able to explain Indonesia’s economic growth by 66.4%. The remaining 33.6% or 0.336 is explained by other variables not included in this research. Keywords: multiple linear regression, inflation, exchange rate, zakat distribution, economic growth, time series

Abstract

The rapid development of the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia is evident in the substantial share of profit and loss sharing (PLS), particularly when compared to other nations. However, on regional scale, PLS as a primary product of Islamic banks has yet to assert dominance of disbursed financing. Analysis of internal and external factors that influence PLS of Islamic banks in Indonesia will be the focus of the research. The Error Correction Model method was chosen to determine the effects in the short and long term. Time series analysis was carried out in the time period January 2015 to December 2022. This research found that internal factors, Third-Party Funds had a positive and significant effect on PLS in the short and long term. Then Allowance for Impairment Losses in the short term does not have a significant effect but in the long term it has a negative and significant effect. Interestingly, PLS is not sensitive to CAR and economic growth. This research shows the resilience of Islamic banks in facing the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. PLS grew higher in the period after the Covid-19 Pandemic compared to before the Covid-19 Pandemic. The implications of these findings encourage Islamic banks to develop products and services, tighten risk management in the long term, and expand the market share of Islamic banks.

Abstract

There are 87 percent of Muslims in Indonesia who provide high zakat potential. This is evidenced by the collection and distribution of zakat which has always experienced significant growth over the past decade. Zakat distribution program for mustahik was formed to help mustahik daily life such as distribution of the economic, education, health, humanitarian and da'wah sectors. However, the existing reality explains that distribution of zakat has not yet supported economic. growth, poverty reduction, and human development over the past decade. Given this phenomenon, this study aims to examine the effect of zakat on economic growth, poverty, and human development in the short and long term in 2011-2022. This research was conducted using Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method with 48 samples. The estimation results from this study state that the distribution of zakat has a significant effect on economic growth, poverty, and human development in the short and long term. Based on the estimation results, this research contributes in the form of policy advice on the distribution and utilization of zakat in Indonesia.
