Abstract

Sesal dance work aimed to convey the remorse of the Dangdut singer on stage with erotic shakes, slashing, and the bad views of the community that are poured into a dance work to fulfill the requirements for the Strata-1 exam for Dance Education Study Program, Jakarta State University. In addition to meeting the requirements for the final project. The method used in the Sesal dance work uses the Alma M Hawkins creation method entitled Moving from Within: A New Method for Dance Making and is translated by I Wayan Dibia in his book entitled Moving According to the Heart. Data collection techniques using interview techniques, observation and literature study. This dance creation is staged indoors by setting a black backdrop and supporting lighting because the creation of dance works was carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic. Sesal Dance has a duration of 15 minutes with 5 scenes. The movements produced in the works developed from Betawi traditional movements into new creations that are in accordance with the theme. In the creation of this dance work involves 2 dancers, where both of them become the same main character of the songstress so that the message to be conveyed in this dance work is realized.

Abstract

Revealing arranged sounds through the composition of musical works is outlined in the arrangement of gamelan compositions for school music arrangements, motivated by the desire to provide alternative material and special gamelan playing techniques for school music arrangements, so that school students are interested in participating in gamelan learning. The sound in music is something that is alive and in the form of sounds that are arranged and have their own size, so that harmonious tones and rhythmic patterns are formed. The life of the sounds can be seen from the characteristics or character that are determined by the musical instruments, some sound by blowing, rubbing, tapping, hitting, and pressing. The sound of a musical instrument will merge with the soul of the musician as a musician's self-expression. A musician's work of art is an aesthetic experience and personal creative ideas that are incorporated into the work of music. The specific goals and objectives to be achieved in this research are to produce media products and teaching materials that are practical and make it easier for students to play the gamelan, and produce works of Sundanese gamelan arrangement compositions that are suitable as teaching materials. While the methodology in this research is qualitative which produces a product in the form of a Sundanese pelog salendro gamelan arrangement that has the legality of intellectual property rights and sheet music documentation or arrangement composition notation resulting from the research process of this artwork.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the existence of the Swargaloka dance studio as a studio capable of producing good and reliable dance artists, both dancers and choreographers, who often become champions in participating in dance competitions both at the local and national levels. Research is more focused on the implementation of training, namely on curriculum, instructors and training methods used. This research uses a qualitative approach. The data were collected through observation, interviews with group leaders, studio managers, instructors, students and parents of the Swargaloka / Swargaloka School of Dance studio students, observation, and active participation. The data obtained were in the form of oral and written data and recordings. Data were analyzed using the flow model because between activities concluding data, reducing, presenting in the form of conclusions were carried out in an interactive way. The results of this study are expected to be able to describe the implementation of training at Sanggar Swargaloka with the training methods, so as to produce students who have good achievements as dancers and choreographers. Until now, Swargaloka studio is always an example for studios in East Jakarta.

Abstract

This research is entitled Praxis of Art at Swargaloka Studio East Jakarta in Pierre Bourdieu's perspective was carried out based on empirical problems in the current field, the dance studio only operates as a place for traditional dance practice. However, Swargaloka Studio shows a difference from other studios in the East Jakarta area. Thus, this study aims to describe the practice of art at the Swargaloka Studio East Jakarta. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive qualitative approach and analyzed using Bourdieu's theory, such as habitus, capital, and arena. The results of this study showed that habitus, capital, and arena are interrelated to support the practice of art at Swargaloka Studio, this leads to artistic activities that are different from other studios in East Jakarta. In Pierre Bourdieu's perspective, the habitus possessed by Swargaloka Studio is a skill that is achieved through dance training. The economic capital owned is in the form of assets, artistic and educational background as cultural capital, and social relations, both physical and virtual as social capital. The arena where the Swargaloka Studio takes part is the East Jakarta City area and the publication media.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain data on the confidence of children victims of family violence. The study uses an action research model by Kemmis and MC Taggart with the application of motion exploration. The study used two cycles, which included planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed that the exploration of motion can increase the confidence of children victims of family violence. Based on the results of the pre-cycle 52.4%, cycle I increased to 74%, and cycle II to 83.6%. The conclusion of the study is that the application of exploration of motion can increase the confidence of children victims of family violence. The benefit of this study is that the exploration of motion can be used as dance therapy to increase confidence.

Abstract

"Furshotu Tsaniyah" is taken from Arabic, Al-Furshotu which means opportunity, opportunity comes, and At-Tsaniyatun which means second. Furshotu Tsaniyah means second chance. The interpretation of this title is that there is a second chance for those who feel alive again from near death and experience life after death. The dance work "Furshotu Tsaniyah" is based on the basic movements of Sundanese dance combined with contemporary movement techniques that are explored infinitely by the choreographer. Appointed this story into a dance work to give a moral message to the community through dance works. This dance work was created through the methods of construction Jacqueline Mary Smith-Authard which consists of methods of construction 1 - 8. The embodiment of the resulting dance work is in the form of dance compositions developed from processing Sundanese dance movements and contemporary movement techniques as well as supporting elements of dance works like angel wings and whips. The dance work "Furshotu Tsaniyah" uses a dramatic dance type with a single-cone dramatic design and presented in a symbolic presentation mode.

Abstract

This article aims to describe and reveal the commodification of Mak Yong Mask Performing Arts as a tourist attraction on Mantang Island. Mak Yong mask is a traditional performing art of the Malay community which is created from a combination of elements of ritual, performing arts, dance, music and singing. This performance has been recognized by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) as an intangible cultural heritage belonging to three allied countries, namely Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. Mak Yong's mask on Mantang Island has a characteristic that is the use of masks as property. Qualitative research methods are carried out using interview, observation, and literature studies. An ethnographic approach with commodification theory is used to observe changes in the performing arts as a form of community negotiation on cultural values. The results of the discussion in this study indicate the commodification of form, time, stage, and desacralization. Changes in the performing arts of Mak Yong masks are influenced by tourism packaging factors without losing the value of the meaning and function of this art as community identity. This effort is carried out as a form of artistic response to the function of performing arts as a cultural tourism.

Abstract

This paper is based on the results of researchers’ obsrvations about learning the Sisingaan dance at the Sisingaan Art Studio, Tresnawangi, Subang Regency as a form of community-based non-formal education. It can be seen that the learning of Sisingaan dance taught to children can help them become more active and positive in carrying out activites that can preserve and maintain the existence of Sisingaan dance. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the concept of Sisingaan dance learning and the learning process of Sisingaan dance at the Sisingaan Art Studio Trenawangi. This research used descriptive qualitative approach. Data was collected by using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Datas were analyzed by data reduction techniques, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the Sisingaan Dance learning at the Sisingaan Art Studio in Tresnawangi has a dance learning concept with the aim of emphasizing participats’ learning on learning materials about Sisingaan dance, so that participats learn to master the techniques and movements in dance. The learning process of Sisingaan Dance in delivering material uses several learning methods including lecture, demonstration, imitation, and drill / practice methods.

Abstract

Active learning of students is certainly a goal in active learning in the classroom. Researchers observed the process and results of learning arts and culture at SMPN 1 Margaasih with the learning that students seemed to be actively creating the learning process. This learning applied by the teacher triggers students to be active and improve good communication. The model applied by the art teacher is a stundent active dabate model that trains students to express their opinions accompanied by reasons and learn to respect differences of opinion, the learning is applied through blended learning. The purpose of this study is to increase the thinking power and active learning of students in the subject of cultural arts and it is hoped that in learning through blended learning students are able to find reference sources on the internet to increase their knowledge. The study conducted by researchers used a qualitative approach to determine the process and results implemented by teachers at SMPN 1 Margaasih. The results of this study indicate that students' learning activities are optimal in the material presented by the arts and culture teacher and the teacher's teaching strategy is able to hone students' analytical skills and speak through constructive debates about a topic or problem with rules and procedures that encourage them to give their opinion on arguments with groups that are packaged in joint discussions through blended learning. The results of this study can be used as recommendations and alternatives for teachers in using learning models to create active learning for students in using information and communication in their learning strategies, and as an effort to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the form of choreography, make-up, clothing and the educational value of the Betangas dance. Besides that, this research was conducted to preserve the culture in Banyuasin Regency as a form of appreciation, the Betangas dance was created from a choreographer's interest in the Betangas traditional procession for prospective brides. Betangas is a traditional steam bath process carried out by every bride and groom before entering their wedding day. Apart from being literally Betangas, this is to eliminate body odor, so that on the wedding day the bride and groom will be fresher, more beautiful and radiant to enter a new phase of life. Betangas dance was created to strengthen the identity of Banyuasin Regency. In this study, used a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method, data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, documentation techniques and literature study. Through this method, the researcher will discuss more deeply about the choreographic structure of the Betangas dance in the study of Ethnochoreology and also a more accurate explanation regarding the make-up and clothing of the Betangas dance. The results of the study stated that the movements in the Betangas dance fall into several categories, namely, gesture, locomotion, button signal with two designs, symmetrical and asymmetrical. The make-up used in the Betangas dance uses corrective make-up and is wrapped in closed dance clothing in accordance with the influence of Malay culture which has Islamic nuances and lives in the Banyuasin district community. In Betangas dance, there are various cultural and educational values that are implied in symbolic movements that are supported by the meanings contained in the use of props and costumes used by the dancers.
