Abstract

Stunting remains a serious challenge in public health development, particularly in rural areas with limited access to nutrition and healthcare. Klampitan Village, Purwoasri Subdistrict, Kediri Regency, is an agricultural area that still faces cases of children at risk of stunting, with a prevalence of 5.8% in February 2025 (Klampitan Village Posyandu Data, 2025). To address this issue, a community service program was implemented through the establishment of a Women Farmers Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) and the cultivation of Family Medicinal Plants (Tanaman Obat Keluarga/TOGA) as a strategy to empower rural women in supporting stunting prevention. The program was carried out over five months using a participatory approach based on Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) through the stages of preparation, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. A total of 20 housewives participated as KWT members, focusing on managing a vacant village hall land of approximately 40 m² as well as their respective home gardens. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, with average pre-test scores rising from 56.3% to 85.7% in the post-test (an increase of 29.4 percentage points). Quantitatively, 56 herbal and vegetable plants were successfully cultivated, including ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, aloe vera, chili, eggplant, and tomato. The KWT served as an effective platform for its members to enhance their skills in managing home gardens into productive farms. TOGA utilization was not only for traditional family medicine but also began to be used as an additional raw material in the village's Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT) as an anti-stunting initiative. Furthermore, the program created opportunities for economic development through plans to diversify TOGA products into processed herbal commodities. The program demonstrates that women's empowerment through KWT can play a significant role in household food security and sustainable stunting prevention.

Abstract

Crackers made from wheat flour and processed fish have become a popular snack among Indonesian consumers. Mrs. Ratih Wardani, owner of Ummi Kemplang Crackers MSME located on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Gang Serasan 1, Bumi Raya Village, Bumi Waras District, Bandar Lampung City, encounters significant obstacles in marketing her products. Narrow market reach hinders business expansion. MSMEs play a vital role in Indonesia's economic development by utilizing local resources. However, digital transformation has become an urgent necessity to expand market reach, accompanied by improved financial management. This community service program aims to enhance production capacity and marketing strategies. Production process modernization is expected to boost the economic welfare of business partners. Marketing improvements were achieved through developing an online sales website that reaches local, national, and international markets. The provision of mixing and cutting machines successfully increased production capacity by 30% while opening opportunities for product diversification.

Abstract

Helminthiasis, salmonella infection, and diarrhea represent significant health challenges stemming from inadequate understanding of clean and healthy behavioral practices, particularly among elementary school children who lack sufficient awareness regarding personal hygiene and environmental sanitation. The community service program aimed to enhance elementary school students' comprehension of diseases that readily compromise children's immune systems. Teaching methods employed included classroom material delivery using visual media, handwashing simulations, and educational games. The activity was conducted at SDN Balet Baru 02, Sukowono Sub-district, northern Jember Regency, which borders Bondowoso Regency, involving 24 sixth-grade students as the primary target group. The selection of sixth-graders was based on the consideration that such age represents an optimal period for character formation and cognitive development in children. Program evaluation demonstrated a substantial increase in student knowledge, evidenced by the comparison between pre-test results showing 40% achievement and post-test results reaching 80%. The interactive approach proved effective in conveying health materials to elementary school-aged children. The community service program contributed to the advancement of child-centered health education methods that are more interactive and easily comprehensible, with the expectation that SDN Balet Baru 02 students would be able to implement the acquired knowledge to become future generations more attentive to personal hygiene and health.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted to facilitate pre-adolescent children in recognizing their potential, interests, and talents as a foundation for national character development based on Pancasila values. The mentoring was carried out through systematic observation of 20 fifth-grade students at Dukuh Mencek 04 Public Elementary School in Jember. The approach was designed to develop self-confidence, social skills, and the ability to formulate life goals from an early age. Observations focused on aspects of responsibility, cooperation, mutual respect, and students' tendencies in interests and talents. The observation results show that targeted mentoring helps students recognize their personal strengths more clearly, increases participation in group activities, and cultivates awareness of character values relevant to self-development. The findings confirm that self-recognition mentoring at pre-adolescent age has the potential to be an effective strategy for building competitive young generation characters grounded in Pancasila values.

Abstract

Animal husbandry plays a strategic role in supporting food security and meeting the nutritional needs of communities, making it essential to introduce the subject from primary school age. This study aims to measure the increase in students' knowledge and motivation towards animal husbandry through interactive game-based education at SDN Bukor 1 Bondowoso. The research employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 29 students in grades 3 and 4, conducted over three sessions through educational games, group discussions, and simple practices. Measurements were taken using pre-test and post-test instruments, which were analyzed descriptively to observe changes in students' understanding. The results showed an increase in students' comprehension, marked by a rise in the percentage of scores of 75-100 from 7% in the pre-test to 76% in the post-test, as well as a decrease in scores of 0-55 from 62% to 3%. These findings indicate that interactive game-based education is effective in improving primary school students' knowledge and motivation regarding animal husbandry and can serve as an alternative contextual learning approach suitable for children's characteristics.

Abstract

The implementation of clean and healthy living practices should begin at the elementary education level, as children are in a critical period of character and habit development that will influence their future lives. Healthy habits instilled from an early age play a vital role in supporting children's physical and mental development while preventing various health problems later in life. However, many elementary school children remain unaware of the importance of consuming nutritious food and maintaining personal hygiene, putting them at risk of health and nutritional problems. Therefore, effective and sustainable health education efforts are needed to increase students' knowledge and awareness. The program was designed to enhance understanding and attitudes toward clean and healthy living among elementary school students through engaging, enjoyable, and age-appropriate learning methods. The approach included outreach and counseling using various educational media, such as slide presentations, educational videos, and interactive games that encouraged active student participation. Evaluations were conducted before and after the activities to measure changes in students' knowledge and behavior. The program was implemented at Trebungan Elementary School, Bondowoso Regency, in three sessions involving 20 second-grade students. The evaluation results showed an increase in students' knowledge about healthy food, from 77.8% in the pre-test to 99.8% in the post-test. Additionally, the percentage of students able to wash their hands correctly also increased significantly, from 16.7% before the activity to 88.9% after the program. These findings demonstrate that the socialization of clean and healthy living behaviors is effective in increasing understanding and developing clean and healthy living habits among elementary school students, thus having the potential to support the creation of a healthy and conducive school environment.

Abstract

Education plays a central role in shaping students' character, morals, and knowledge to develop critical, creative, and ethical thinking abilities. However, the prevalence of bullying and racism in schools indicates a moral crisis and insufficient implementation of character values among students. The community service activity was conducted at SDN Dawuhan with the aim of instilling anti-bullying and anti-racism character from an early age to create a safe, harmonious, and conducive school environment. The implementation method employed a descriptive approach with audio-visual media and the administration of pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' understanding before and after the activity. Pre-test and post-test results revealed that prior to the community service, students lacked comprehensive understanding of bullying and racism. Comparison of pre-test and post-test results showed approximately 75% improvement in understanding after material presentation. The activity was conducted through three sessions from September 12, 2025, to September 26, 2025, with third-grade elementary school students as research subjects. Results demonstrated increased understanding and behavioral changes regarding the importance of respecting differences, as well as decreased bullying cases in the school environment. Students became more open, communicative, and chose to resolve conflicts positively. The implementation of anti-bullying and anti-racism character education proved effective in building attitudes of empathy, solidarity, and tolerance among elementary school students
