Abstract

This study aims to explain the success of marine protected areas (MPAs) as a strategyfor economic utilization of marine resources. Method study through literature review aswell as some previous research related to the strategy of sustainable utilization ofmarine resources. From the study results conclude 1) Marine Protect Area (MPA) isdesigned for a number of reasons, including fisheries management, tourism promotion,and maintaining biodiversity; 2) MPA can provide added value not only economicbenefits to be gained, but also in the ecological benefits long term will also provideadditional economic benefits to the marine protected area; 3) In the area of protection,benefits not only to benefit the direct benefits from the utilization of its resources, butinclude broader benefits including social benefits from the presence of marine protectedareas; 4) The role of government in terms of coordination, cooperation and funding isneeded for the success of MPA, in addition to the use of MPAs as a potential area ofsustainable funding sources for sustainable management.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the factors that affect customer satisfaction in shoppingat Mall SKA Pekanbaru City. This research was conducted at SKA Mall Pekanbaru. Themethod used is survey method with non probability sampling of accidental sampling. Thenumber of samples taken is 200 samples. The analysis used in this research is StructuralEquation Modelling (SEM) method. The results showed that reliability and responsiveness arethe factors that mostly influence consumer satisfaction of all factors. The result showed thatreliability has value of Critical Ration (CR) of 3,756 with p = *** and responsiveness has CRvalue of 1,972 with p <0.05 = 0,046.

Abstract

Rubber is one of the leading and strategic plantation commodities, its role is quite large in encouraging the people's economy. Effective rubber marketing is the hope of farmers, so that farmers get a good rubber marketing strategy. The aim of the study was to develop recommendations for rubber marketing strategies in Kampa District, Kampar Regency. This study used survey methods, observations, and interviews with the sampling technique using snowball sampling, and the number of respondents was 27 people. SWOT analysis is used to develop a rubber marketing strategy and the discussion is presented in a qualitative descriptive manner. The results of the analysis of rubber marketing strategies in Kampa District, Kampar Regency are 1). Rubber marketing to factories is carried out through the Joint Business Group and the requirements for joining the Joint Business Group must not be burdensome to members as stipulated in the AD/ART of KUB; 2). The Joint Business Group cooperates with BUMDes to strengthen capital and build rubber storage warehouses; 3). The Joint Business Group evaluates the rubber factory's assessment of the rubber sold and the farmers improve the quality of the rubber according to the established standards; 4). The government helps rubber farmers make an MoU on rubber marketing with rubber factories.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze rubber marketing at subdistrict of Pangkalan Kuras with the structure approach, behavior, and market outlook. The research used survey method. The place was set purposively at Sorek Dua and Terantang Manuk village. The sample of the research was rubber farmers and all of the marketing institution of rubber at the research area. The result of the research concluded that there was only one marketing channel of the rubber at the area of the research. That was, the farmer sold the rubber product to the collector, the collector then sold it to the wholesaler of the rubber. Then, the wholesalers sold it to the manufacturer (rubber industry). The structure of rubber market at level of farmer was an Oligopsony Market. The characteristic of oligopsony was seen by the indicators as follow: 1) Number of the buyers in this case were the collectors, which were only a few; 2) The market share of the seller was not really different and the Herfindahl index value for the Sorek Dua and Terantang Manuk village were 0.348 and 0.5553 respectively. The farmer was a price taker and the selling price at the level of farmer was lowest than the selling price at the industry level. Total of market margin at Sorek Dua village was IDR 1837/kg with the detail of marketing cost of IDR 780.7/kg and the profit of IDR 1056.3/kg. The market margin of the Terantang Manuk village was   IDR 1740/kg, with the detail of marketing cost of IDR 825.85/kg and the profit of marketing institution was IDR 914.15/kg.

Abstract

Conflict is a problem that arises and unavoidable of human life. Conflict occurs because of differences of opinion, different purposes, or poor communication, causing the appearance of a conflict. The purpose of this study to determine the perceptions and expectations of members of Tani Perkasa Cooperative and PT. Riau Sarana Citra to understanding the conflict in Pasar Baru Village District of Pangean. This study used a survey method. To determine the respondents used key informants and samples. The sampling method is purposive sampling. Respondents were drawn as many as 70 members of the Tani Perkasa Cooperative as a sample. In this study using 5 key informant. The data have been obtained in the field were analyzed by descriptive qualitative, then make the tabulation of the distribution of respondents from each of the variables studied. To describe the perception variables Tani Perkasa Cooperative members to use 5W + 1H conflict. While to analyze the expectations of members of Koperasi Tani Perkasa to the conflict used the Likert Scale. The results showed that: (1) Perception of Tani Perkasa Cooperative to understand the conflict in the category measured from the perception of understanding of the problem of conflict, perceptions of understanding of the purposes of conflict actors, and perceptions of understanding the conflict actors. (2) Expectations Tani Perkasa Cooperative to the conflict was in the category of high expectations with a score of 3.58 as measured from goal, pathway thinking, and agency thinking.

Abstract

One of the most significant current discussions in development country is poverty, including in Indonesia. Indonesia is one of the most populous in the worlds with 237.6 million people in 2010, where 76.93 % of poverty are concentrated in Java(55.33%) and Sumatra(21.6%), followed by the Sulawesi (7.15%), Bali and Nusa Tenggara (6.90%), Maluku and Papua(5.69 %) and the Borneo (3.26%). The Sumatra Island is the second most populous after Java. This paper attempted to create profiling poverty of 151 residences and cities in Sumatera. The poverty characteristics included in the profiling are:levelof education, manpower distribution, expenditures per capita, health, housing facilities, and government’s poverty eradication programs. Data resources are from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). The data were analyzed by principle component analysis (PCA) and Hierarchical Data Analysis. From the 45 original variables, the analysis of components with factor analysis produced as many as 32 variables as the main components, adequate for further analysis as 'key factors' for social economic characteristic profile of residences and cities in Sumatera. These main components demonstrated the adequate values of KMO, MSA, and Bartlett's Test of Sphericity.Following the result from Factor Analysis to obtain the important factors of poverty, the method of hierarchical cluster analysis was, further, used to classify the profiles of 108 residences and cities in Sumatera. The results of cluster analysis with 5interesting clusters of poverty profile of socio-economic indicators show that Cluster 1 comprises of 7 residences with similar characteristic of level of educationand manpower distribution. Cluster 2 includes 9 residences with similar level of education and expenditures per capita. Cluster 3 consists of 36 residences and 2 cities with similar manpower distribution and expenditures per capita patterns. Cluster 4 comprises of 23 residences and 3 cities showing its own distinct characteristics in their similarity patterns of expenditures per capita and housing facilities. Then, the cluster 5 consists of 2 residences and 27 cities showing the similar patterns in level of education and housing facilities.

Abstract

The presence of today's modern market has offer a complete shopping place known as the concept of "one stop shopping". Hypermart Pekanbaru has a vision and mission that emphasizes quality, including the quality of perishable fruit and vegetables. This study aimed to examine: (1) Diversity of agricultural products, especially horticulture available in Hypermart Pekanbaru; (2) Horticultural product quality standard applied by the company and (3) Fruit and vegetable quality control process implemented in Hypermart Pekanbaru. The research method used was case study, to understand in depth complex problems in Hypermart Pekanbaru. Primary data collection is done by observation and interview with management and company employees, while secondary data through literature study. The results showed that: (1) The diversity of horticultural products in Hypermart Pekanbaru consists of local fruit, imported fruit, local vegetables and imported vegetables; (2) The quality standard set by Department Produce Hypermart Pekanbaru is from the aspect of product freshness, product appearance, and product quality based on the shape, size, weight, texture and product packaging according to the characteristics of each fruit and vegetables and (3) Stages of quality control process fruits and vegetables that are implemented in Hypermart Pekanbaru include local supplier selection process, standardization of fruit and vegetable products according to predetermined criteria, and carrying out daily management activities especially maintaining hygiene aspects of storage area, preparation and sales of fruit and vegetables.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of motivation and satisfaction to the performance of broilers involved in contract farming and to analyze the influence of motivation and satisfaction on the performance of broiler farmers in contract farming partnerships. This study uses primary and secondary data. Secondary data was obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics and primary data was collected by questionnaire to 40 respondents using convenience sampling techniques. Then the data is analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The validity and reliability of the data was tested using SPSS 23. Quantitative data is the interpretation of the likert scale and the interpretation of multiple linear regressions with SPSS 23 include: coefficient of determination, test F and test T. For motivation variables obtained an average score of 3.19 which indicates that farmers feel quite motivated in collaboration with the core company. On the variable satisfaction has an average score of 3.59 indicates that the farmer is satisfied during partnering. On the performance variable the score value is 3.18 indicating that the farmer has a pretty good relationship with the company. Multiple regression results showed that the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.648, meaning 64.8 percent of motivation and satisfaction variables significantly affected the performance of broiler chicken breeders, while the remaining 35.2 percent were influenced by other variables outside the equation model.

Abstract

Yard area is an area of land that is in the front, rear and side of the house building which can be harnessed into productive land with socially economically functional outcome. The purpose of this study was to determine the utilization of yard area by commodity type and yard area contribution form to the social and economic life of Kembang Tani Group. This research was conducted at Cucum Village in Aceh Besar Regency by using census method. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed that: (1) Utilization of yard area was mostly used for vegetables (water spinach, celery, spinach, mustard greens, lettuce), poultry (free-range chicken, duck laying hens and muscovy duck), fruits, fish (freshwater catfish, tilapia fish) and medicinal plants; (2) Social contribution form of  giving (2,65%) and exchange (3,27%) with neighbors as well as giving to relatives (7,09%); (3) The economic value such as saving expense or non-cash income was on the low category of IDR 1.650.237/year or IDR 137.519/month and additional cash income was on medium category of IDR 28.876.183/year or IDR 2.406.348/month.

Abstract

This research is aimed to analyze the household economics of ex-rubber farmers of UPP TSCDP. In order to answer the purpose of research, descriptive analysis and econometric approach with a model of simultaneous equations using Two Stage Least Square (2SLS) were used. The results of this research are household rubber farmers allocated more times working in rubber farming which is 1268.8 hours/year (67.34%) and 622.3 hours/year (32.66%) was allocated to work outside rubber farming. The income of rubber farmers household comes more from rubber farming which is Rp.18.684.884,0/year instead of outside the rubber farming worth Rp.11.041.624,0 / year. The expenditure of rubber farmers more on non-food consumption which is Rp.11.685.008/year instead of food consumption Rp.10.640.756/year. In the production block, there are not factors that responsive to economic decisions of households rubber farmers, but the greatest impact is the number of productive rubber trees. However, the factors that responsive for allocated of working time is responsive farmers work experienced and age of the farmer. On the revenue block, the educational factors are responsive to economic decisions of households rubber farmers. While the expenditure, the factor that responsive isthe total income of farmers, the wife of education, the number of school children rubber farmer households and non-food consumption.
