Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed the marketing landscape, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Digital marketing and social media engagement have become essential strategic tools for businesses seeking to increase consumer awareness, strengthen brand relationships, and stimulate purchasing behavior. Despite the widespread adoption of digital marketing practices, many MSMEs continue to face challenges in converting online engagement into actual purchase intentions. Previous studies have identified brand trust as a critical factor influencing consumer purchasing decisions; however, limited empirical evidence exists regarding its mediating role in the relationship between digital marketing, social media engagement, and purchase intention within the MSME context. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital marketing and social media engagement on purchase intention through brand trust among MSME consumers. A quantitative explanatory research design was employed. Data were collected from 250 consumers who had purchased products from MSMEs through digital platforms. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) was used to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings reveal that digital marketing significantly influences brand trust (β = 0.421, p < 0.001), social media engagement significantly affects brand trust (β = 0.387, p < 0.001), and brand trust significantly influences purchase intention (β = 0.551, p < 0.001). Furthermore, brand trust partially mediates the relationship between digital marketing and purchase intention, as well as between social media engagement and purchase intention. The model explains 71.2% of the variance in purchase intention. This study contributes to marketing literature by demonstrating the strategic importance of brand trust as a mechanism through which digital marketing activities influence consumer purchase intentions. The findings provide practical guidance for MSMEs seeking to improve marketing effectiveness in increasingly competitive digital environments.

Abstract

Exposure to harmful chemicals in the environment, such as heavy metals (lead, mercury, and cadmium), pesticides, and Bisphenol A (BPA), is a growing global public health problem due to industrial activities, agriculture, and the use of chemical-based products in daily life. This study aims to analyze the health risks due to exposure to these chemicals in vulnerable populations through a systematic literature review approach. Data was collected from national and international scientific journals published in the 2015–2025 period through databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect. The results of the study show that heavy metals have the main toxic effects in the form of neurological developmental disorders in children, decreased cognitive function, and damage to liver and kidney organs. Pesticides are associated with an increased risk of nervous system disorders, respiratory diseases, and some types of cancer such as leukemia. Meanwhile, BPA is known to play an endocrine disruptor role that can cause hormonal disorders, obesity, and reproductive problems. The population most vulnerable to these impacts are children as well as workers in the agricultural and industrial sectors due to the high intensity of exposure. The conclusion of this study confirms that exposure to hazardous chemicals has a significant impact on human health, so it is necessary to strengthen regulations, environmental monitoring, and public education to minimize future health risks.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of Digital Competence and Knowledge Sharing on Service Quality, with Adaptive Performance serving as a mediating variable among broadband technicians at PT. Telkom Akses Witel Surabaya. This research employed a quantitative approach using an explanatory research design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 113 broadband technicians selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. The findings reveal that Digital Competence has a positive and significant effect on both Service Quality and Adaptive Performance. Knowledge Sharing also has a positive and significant effect on Adaptive Performance; however, it does not directly influence Service Quality. Furthermore, Adaptive Performance was found to have a positive and significant effect on Service Quality. The mediation analysis indicates that Adaptive Performance partially mediates the relationship between Digital Competence and Service Quality and fully mediates the relationship between Knowledge Sharing and Service Quality. These findings suggest that improving service quality depends not only on employees’ digital competencies and knowledge-sharing practices but also on their ability to adapt to technological changes and dynamic work demands. Therefore, organizations should strengthen digital competence, encourage knowledge-sharing activities, and enhance employees’ adaptive capabilities to improve service quality and organizational performance.

Abstract

This literature review evaluates the effectiveness of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) strategies in reducing the prevalence of diarrhea among children under five, with the aim of assessing their contribution to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study employed a systematic literature review of publications indexed in Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, focusing on articles published between 2016 and 2026. The search was conducted using the keywords “WASH,” “diarrhea,” “2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” “hygiene,” and “sanitation.” The review highlights the significant impact of hygiene practices and environmental sanitation on the incidence of diarrheal disease. The findings indicate that handwashing with soap, access to safe drinking water, adequate sanitation facilities, and effective waste management are essential components of diarrhea prevention. Evidence consistently demonstrates a significant association between improved sanitation and hygiene practices and a reduction in diarrheal cases among children under five. Furthermore, the review emphasizes the importance of health education and community-based interventions in promoting sustainable WASH practices. However, the implementation of WASH interventions continues to face challenges, including socioeconomic disparities, inadequate infrastructure, and limited community participation. This review concludes that comprehensive WASH strategies, integrating infrastructure improvements with behavior change interventions, are critical for achieving the health-, clean water-, and sanitation-related targets of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and for reducing the burden of diarrhea among children under five.

Abstract

The globalized landscape of healthcare services demands that Medical Record professionals possess proficient English communication skills, particularly in international coding standardizations (ICD-10/ICD-11), patient admissions, and inter-professional reporting. However, non-linguistic healthcare students often face high speaking anxiety and limited classroom exposure. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a Blended Learning model in enhancing the English speaking skills of second-semester Medical Record students at Universitas Bhakti Hasta Mulia Madiun. A quantitative pre-experimental design (one-group pre-test/post-test) was deployed, involving 52 students (40 females and 12 males). The blended framework integrated synchronous face-to-face communicative simulations (medical role-playing) with asynchronous digital platforms (Learning Management System and video-recording tasks). Speaking proficiency was measured using an analytical rubric assessing pronunciation, fluency, grammar, vocabulary, and professional comprehension. Data analysis via paired sample t-test revealed a highly significant improvement from pre-test (M = 62.45) to post-test (M = 78.12), with p < 0.001. Female students demonstrated higher baseline scores, whereas male students exhibited a higher rate of progression. The study concludes that blended learning optimizes pedagogical flexibility, mitigates speech anxiety, and significantly upgrades professional English speaking outcomes in vocational medical contexts.

Abstract

Background: The escalating contamination of environmental microplastics (MP) has raised increasing concern about its role in declining male reproductive health. MPs have been physically detected in human testicular tissue and semen, underscoring the importance of a systematic evidence synthesis. Objective: This scoping review consolidates evidence published between 2015 and 2025 regarding the effects of MP exposure on male fertility parameters, characterizes the underlying biological mechanisms involved, and identifies research gaps pertinent to Indonesia. Methods: Adhering to PRISMA-ScR guidelines and the PCC framework, systematic searches were conducted across five databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Portal Garuda). Of 150 retrieved records, 37 studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria (Cohen's κ = 0.82). Results: Polystyrene (PS) was the predominant polymer identified in testicular tissue (mean 11.60±15.52 particles/g) and semen (0.23±0.45 particles/mL). MP exposure was associated with reductions in sperm motility, vitality, and concentration alongside elevated DNA fragmentation, mediated through four pathways: oxidative stress, blood-testis barrier (BTB) disruption, endocrine interference, and spermatogenic apoptosis. Downregulation of sperm-oocyte fusion genes (DCST1, IZUMO1, SPACA6) constituted an additional reproductive risk dimension. Conclusion: Converging evidence indicates that MPs can impair male fertility through multiple toxicological mechanisms, though definitive causal evidence in humans remains lacking. As one of the world's top contributors of plastic waste to the ocean, Indonesia bears a disproportionately high exposure burden relative to its available reproductive health data. Prospective epidemiological research and the application of the precautionary principle in national plastic policy are urgently warranted.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the essential skills in English language learning because it enables learners to communicate their ideas, opinions, and feelings effectively. However, many English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students experience difficulties in speaking due to limited vocabulary, poor pronunciation, lack of confidence, and anxiety. One teaching technique that has been widely applied to overcome these problems is the drilling technique, which provides students with repeated opportunities to practice language forms. This study aims to investigate students’ perceptions on the effectiveness of drilling to improve speaking skills. The study employs a quantitative descriptive approach using open-ended questionnaires distributed to 44 students of Electrical Engineering taking conversation class. The questionnaire is used to measure students' perceptions regarding four aspects of the effectiveness of drilling on speaking skills: pronunciation accuracy, speaking fluency, vocabulary retention, and speaking confidence. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including means, percentages, categories, and positive responses. The mean interpretation categories are determined based on a five-category Likert scale range, namely:1.00–1.80: very low,1.81–2.60: low, 2.61–3.40: moderate, 3.41–4.20: high, 4.21–5.00: very high. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis indicate that the perceptions of Electrical Engineering Class A students regarding the effectiveness of using drilling to improve speaking skills fall within the high to very high range.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of social media on the formation of self-identity and interaction patterns among Generation Z in Indonesia using a qualitative approach through a literature review. As a generation that has grown up in a digital ecosystem, Generation Z views social media as an integral part of daily life whether for communication, self-expression, or building a self-image. The findings reveal that social media plays a dual role. On one hand, it serves as a space for self-expression, self-exploration, expanding social networks, and a means of obtaining emotional support from online communities. On the other hand, social media also creates social pressure through a culture of comparison, unrealistic beauty standards, and a tendency to form identities that are out of sync with one’s true self. Excessive use of social media also affects interaction patterns, particularly the decline in the quality of face-to-face communication, reduced empathy, and the rise of brief, instant, and symbolic communication patterns. Research findings also indicate that algorithms, curated content, filter bubbles, digital ads, and the influence of virtual communities are key factors shaping Generation Z’s self-perception and interaction behaviors. In addition, heavy use of social media can have an impact on mental health, leading to anxiety, low self-esteem, and dissatisfaction with oneself. Therefore, digital literacy, self-control, and educational guidance are necessary to ensure that Generation Z can use social media wisely and in a balanced way. In this way, social media can serve as a valuable tool without compromising the quality of one’s self-identity and real-world social relationships.
