Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Cilegon City Government regulation on the provision of regional allowances for madrasah educators, focusing on the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation, as well as its impact on teacher welfare and performance. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, involving sources from the Education Office, the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, madrasah leaders, and teachers receiving regional allowances. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and review of related documents, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results show that the implementation of the regional allowance policy for madrasah teachers in Cilegon City is effective with recipient coverage reaching 92.9% of the total madrasah teachers. The main supporting factors include the political commitment of the regional head, the availability of an adequate budget of Rp 2.4 billion per year, good inter-agency coordination, and support from education stakeholders. Conversely, inhibiting factors include administrative and teacher data issues, delays in disbursement, limited coverage and amount of honorariums, and lack of socialization. This policy has a positive impact on teacher economic welfare, increases motivation and job satisfaction, and influences the quality of planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning, while encouraging teacher professional development. This study recommends the development of an integrated personnel information system, acceleration of the disbursement process, increasing the amount of honorariums and the scope of recipients, and intensifying program socialization so that policy implementation is more optimal and sustainable.

Abstract

The shift in the national education paradigm marked by the implementation of the Independent Curriculum demands the design of an Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum that is in line with current developments, but remains rooted in Islamic values. At the Junior High School (SMP) level, PAI not only serves as a means of transmitting religious knowledge but also as a medium for the formation of students' character and spirituality. This study aims to examine and design an Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum for junior high school level based on national regulations, Islamic education principles, and learning outcomes set out in the Independent Curriculum. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through the collection and analysis of various relevant literature. The results show that the design of the PAI curriculum must include main components such as Learning Outcomes (CP), Learning Objectives (TP), Learning Objective Flow (ATP), and Teaching Modules. Each component is designed integratively to create contextual, flexible learning that focuses on strengthening students' noble character. Overall, this study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of an operational curriculum for Islamic Religious Education at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The escalating global ecological crisis demands solutions that transcend mere technical fixes, drawing instead on the profound synergy between sacred religious values and deeply rooted indigenous wisdom. This study, pioneering in its examination of the integration of Islamic ecotheology with the centuries-old ecological traditions of the Baduy community, crafts a groundbreaking environmental ethics model tailored for contemporary Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative narrative-comparative research design, insights were dynamically gathered through an immersive mix of literature reviews, field observations, in-depth interviews, and meticulous documentation. Subsequent thematic analysis uncovers a powerful, harmonious alignment between core Islamic concepts—such as khalīfah (stewardship), amānah (trust), and mīzān (cosmic balance)—and the foundational Baduy principles of pikukuh karuhun (ancestral mandates), strict ecological taboos, and sacred forest conservation. Remarkably, both value systems independently champion a shared ethos of deep moral responsibility, voluntary simplicity, and an absolute rejection of environmental exploitation. By weaving these two worldviews together, this research produces a highly holistic environmental ethics model that bridges divine religious legitimacy with time-tested, practical indigenous conservation methods. Rather than treating faith and tradition as static relics, this integrated framework revitalizes them into active catalysts for deep ecological awareness. Ultimately, this newly forged model offers transformative strategic potential, providing an authentic and culturally resonant blueprint to revolutionize environmental education, reshape grassroots policy development, and drive sustainable community empowerment initiatives across the nation.

Abstract

This study critically examines the influence of principals’ exemplary leadership on the formation of teacher character in Islamic junior secondary schools (madrasah thanawiyah) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Pandeglang Regency. Exemplary leadership is conceptualized as the embodiment of moral integrity, ethical conduct, and professional consistency, whereas teacher character is measured through indicators of integrity, professional ethics, discipline, responsibility, and spiritual commitment. Using a quantitative survey approach involving 34 principals and teachers, the study employed validated instruments that were tested through Exploratory Factor Analysis and Cronbach’s alpha reliability procedures. The findings reveal that principals’ exemplary leadership is rated highly, predominantly driven by moral and spiritual dimensions, while teacher character is rated very highly. A positive perception gap was identified, with teachers evaluating their principals more positively than principals evaluated themselves, suggesting strong moral legitimacy and symbolic authority attributed to school leaders. Challenges remain in the area of principals’ technical professionalism, which requires systematic enhancement. The study recommends integrative leadership development programs that combine ethical modeling with managerial competence. This research advances theoretical understanding of social learning processes in Islamic education, demonstrates the empirical role of moral leadership in shaping teacher character, and offers practical insights for policy formulation in strengthening madrasah leadership quality.

Abstract

Restorative justice studies have so far been developed mainly within the framework of modern positive law, while the potential of similar concepts in Islamic criminal law is often narrowly understood as a mechanism of retribution. In fact, Qisas and diyat embody a more comprehensive dimension of justice-oriented towards restoration. The purpose of this study is to analyse Qisas and diyat in Islamic criminal law through the perspective of legal psychology to prove the restorative justice character inherent in them. This study uses a normative legal research method, with a conceptual, theological-normative, and legal psychology approach, examining primary data in the form of the Qur'an and hadith, as well as secondary data sourced from relevant research through library research, to analyse the restorative character of Qisas and diyat. The results of this study indicate that Qisas and diyat not only function as instruments of punishment but also as mechanisms of recovery that acknowledge victims' suffering, encourage perpetrators' moral responsibility, and restore social and psychological balance. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of a legal psychology perspective into the examination of Qisas and diyat as restorative justice inherent in Islamic criminal law. This research is expected to enrich academic discourse and strengthen the relevance of Islamic criminal law in the discourse of modern restorative justice.

Abstract

This study analyzes differences in flood news framing between local and national online media in South Sumatra, focusing on Sriwijaya Post and Kompas.com during 2025. It examines how both media construct disaster causality, assign responsibility, and formulate solutions using the concepts of media framing, disaster communication, environmental journalism, and the social construction of reality. This qualitative research applies Pan and Kosicki’s framing analysis model, covering syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures. The research analyzes 80 flood-related news articles published from January to November 2025. The findings show that Kompas.com frames floods as hydrometeorological disasters caused by extreme rainfall and climate anomalies, emphasizing scientific authority, meteorological data, and technocratic policy responses. In contrast, Sriwijaya Post highlights environmental degradation, deforestation, land conversion, and the socio-economic impacts on local communities, constructing a more ecological and humanitarian perspective. The study demonstrates that editorial orientation and geographical proximity significantly influence representations of disasters, ecological responsibility, and governance failures. The main limitations include restricted access to newsroom production processes and the interpretative subjectivity of framing analysis. Rapid digital information flows also make media narratives highly dynamic and context-dependent. Therefore, the study recommends strengthening disaster journalism that prioritizes ecological education, disaster risk mitigation, and public environmental awareness rather than event-centered reporting. This research contributes to disaster communication and media framing studies by demonstrating that local and national media construct disaster realities through different ideological and epistemological orientations, shaping public understanding of ecological crises, environmental governance, and social responsibility in Indonesia.

Abstract

The importance of developing religiosity among young people presents a unique challenge in the modern era, which is filled with global influences and declining moral values. Religious values cannot develop quickly but require a process appropriate to the community's context and characteristics. This study aims to identify and evaluate the practical activity patterns implemented by the "Healthy Youth" group to build and strengthen religious values among rural youth. In addition, this study aims to identify the types of religious values that emerge from community activities and to examine the challenges and negative impacts that arise during their implementation. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through observation and in-depth interviews. The data analysis process is carried out interactively through steps such as data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with validity strengthened through source triangulation. The study shows that the practical activity model in the "Healthy Youth" community can strengthen rural youth's religious values . This model focuses on real social problems, uses flexible studies, actively involves members, and carries out socio-religious activities together. Religious values are strengthened through exemplary sources and approaches appropriate to the context. These activities fostered important values such as sincerity, Islamic brotherhood, knowledge sharing, responsibility, tolerance, and consistency in worship. However, the research also identified obstacles, including a lack of ethical boundaries in discussions, minimal supervision, a lack of standardized materials, dependence on specific figures, excessively long activity durations, and the potential for symbolic polarization within the community.

Abstract

This study analyzes the regulation of polygamy from the perspectives of Islamic law, Continental European (civil law), and Anglo-Saxon (common law) legal systems, while examining the social and legal implications arising from their different approaches. Using a normative legal method with a comparative juridical approach, the research analyzes primary and secondary legal sources, including the Qur’an, statutory regulations, court decisions, scholarly journals, and comparative family law literature. The study covers Muslim-majority countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Tunisia, and Pakistan) and Western jurisdictions (France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States). The findings show that polygamy regulations are shaped by each country’s legal culture, ideological orientation, and social values. Islamic legal systems generally permit polygamy under strict conditions through judicial supervision and administrative controls, whereas civil law and common law systems uphold monogamy as the fundamental principle of family law. These contrasting legal frameworks generate significant social and legal challenges, particularly for minority and immigrant communities practicing polygamy in Western countries, highlighting tensions between religious norms, state law, and human rights in the context of globalization and transnational mobility. The study recommends more adaptive and inclusive legal approaches that strengthen legal protection for women and children while accommodating diverse socio-religious contexts. It contributes to comparative family law by demonstrating that polygamy regulation extends beyond legal doctrine and reflects the dynamic interaction of religion, culture, the state, and human rights in contemporary global society.

Abstract

This study originated from the urgent need to provide relevant Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning for childhood cancer survivors at Sekolah-ku YKAKI Yogyakarta, who study under vulnerable physical, psychological, and social conditions during long-term therapy. The current national PAI curriculum, which emphasises memorisation, is considered incompatible with their needs for more flexible, empathetic, and experiential learning. This study aims to develop an initial design for an inclusive eco-pedagogy-based PAI curriculum that integrates Islamic spiritual values with ecological awareness while accommodating students’ limited physical stamina, fluctuating energy, and constrained study time. A descriptive qualitative approach with an embedded case study design was employed, involving semi-structured interviews with teachers, students, and parents, classroom observations, and document analysis. Data were analysed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, including data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and method triangulation. The findings reveal five main challenges in PAI learning at YKAKI: fluctuating physical and emotional conditions, limited study time due to therapy schedules, restricted space and infection control measures, lack of varied media and activities, and misalignment between the national curriculum and the children's special needs. In response, an initial eco-pedagogy-based PAI curriculum was formulated with five core principles: spiritual-ecological, flexible-individual, humanistic-empathetic, experiential, and collaborative-community-oriented. This curriculum positions learning as a healing educational space that fosters spirituality, ecological care, and educational continuity for childhood cancer survivors.
