Abstract

Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) is a critical medical condition that requires comprehensive rehabilitation to restore cardiac function and quality of life. This study presents a case report of a 54-year-old female patient post-PCI following subendocardial myocardial infarction. The physiotherapy intervention was conducted during phase 2 of cardiac rehabilitation in four sessions, consisting of warm-up (cardiac exercise), main training (walking and treadmill), and cool-down (ergocycle). Evaluation included the 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT), Borg Scale, vital signs, and thoracic cage measurements. Results showed an increase in walking distance from 462 meters to 500 meters, improved METs, decreased Borg Scale score, and greater thoracic expansion. These findings suggest that phase 2 physiotherapy intervention effectively enhances functional capacity and physical activity tolerance in post-AMI patients.

Abstract

Patients who have undergone odontectomy surgery are at risk of respiratory failure due to decreased oxygen saturation. Good handling is needed to overcome this, especially by placing the patient in the 60° Fowler position for 10 minutes, which facilitates breathing because gravity pulls the diaphragm down, increasing lung expansion. The purpose of this study was to determine how giving the 60° Fowler position to post-odontectomy patients affects their oxygen saturation levels. This study used a pre-experimental design using the pre-experiment one group pre-post test methodology. The sampling technique used purposive sampling of 36 respondents with an instrument in the form of an observation sheet. The statistical test used the Wilcoxon Sign Rank test to determine the effect of the fowler position variable on changes in oxygen saturation in post-odontectomy patients. The majority of respondents before being given the 60⁰ fowler position had oxygen saturation in the mild hypoxemia category of 25 respondents (69.4%). After being given the 60⁰ fowler position intervention, all respondents experienced a very significant average increase of 6.3%. The Wilcoxon test results obtained a result of 0.000 (p <0.05). There is a significant effect of giving the 60˚ fowler position on changes in oxygen saturation in post-odontectomy patients at IBS RSUD Dr. Tjitrowardojo Purworejo.

Abstract

Students, being academically active, may experience reduced physical activity, risking lower extremity strength, particularly in the gastrocnemius muscle. Calf raise exercises can improve this muscle's power. This study aimed to examine the relationship between calf raise frequency and gastrocnemius strength in anesthesia nursing students at Universitas 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta. Using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, 41 students were assessed via total sampling. Muscle strength was measured using a leg dynamometer and observation sheet. Wilcoxon and Spearman Rank tests revealed significant improvement (p = 0.000) and a strong relationship between exercise frequency and muscle strength. Most participants (76.2%) reported high exercise frequency and moderate strength improvement. The findings confirm a significant relationship between calf raise frequency and gastrocnemius strength, suggesting the need for increased student awareness of muscle training.

Abstract

Contraception is used to control population growth and ensure the availability of natural resources, thereby maintaining the quality of human life. Contraceptive methods can be categorized into two types: long-term contraceptive methods (LTCMs), such as intrauterine devices (IUDs), implants, female sterilization (tubal ligation or MOW), and male sterilization (vasectomy or MOP); and short-term contraceptive methods (non-LTCMs), such as condoms, injections, and oral contraceptive pills. The aim of this study is to examine and explain the relationship between spousal support and the role of healthcare workers in the selection of long-term contraceptive methods among women of reproductive age in the working area of the Kefa Utara Village Maternity Post, North Central Timor Regency. This research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used accidental sampling with a total of 106 WUS respondents. Data analysis using Chi Square test analysis. The results showed that women of reproductive age who did not get husband's support were higher (57.50%) than those who got husband's support (42.50%). Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between husband's support and the selection of LTCMS (p < 0.05) with an Odds Ratio (OR) value of 2.690. In addition, health workers who played a role in the selection of LTCMS were greater (67.90%) than health workers who did not play a role (32.10%). The Chi Square test results also showed a significant relationship between the role of health workers and the selection of LTCMS (p < 0.05) with an 0R value of 3.733.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is a condition of hypertension occurring after 20 weeks of gestation, accompanied by organ dysfunction and proteinuria. Preeclampsia is classified into Early Onset Preeclampsia (EOPE), which occurs before 34 weeks of gestation, and Late Onset Preeclampsia (LOPE), which occurs after 34 weeks of gestation. EOPE carries a higher risk of maternal and fetal complications compared to LOPE. This research aims to analyze the complications in mothers and fetuses with EOPE and LOPE that were terminated at RSUD Raden Mattaher Jambi between 2020 and 2022. This descriptive research was conducted in the Medical Records Department of RSUD Raden Mattaher, Jambi, involving 82 patients who experienced both maternal and fetal complications with EOPE and LOPE that were terminated. Sampling was carried out using the total sampling technique based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of this research showed that the prevalence of EOPE was 69.5%, while LOPE accounted for 30.5%. Maternal complications were more commonly found in EOPE cases, including eclampsia (42.1%), HELLP syndrome (36%), premature rupture of membranes (14%), placental abruption (14%), and maternal mortality (5.3%). Fetal complications in EOPE included Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) (10.5%), prematurity (26.3%), low birth weight (29.8%), Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) (10.5%), and Intrauterine Fetal Death (IUFD) (1.8%). The perinatal mortality rate in EOPE was 7%, with asphyxia recorded in 12.3% of cases. EOPE is more frequently encountered than LOPE and is associated with more severe maternal and fetal complications. Early detection and management of EOPE are crucial to reducing complications and improving pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract

The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey stated that the proportion of exclusive breastfeeding in Sumatera Utara Province was quite low, namely 43.9%. The low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is closely related to the lack of knowledge of postpartum mothers, which is a predisposing factor that encourages mothers to only give breast milk for 6 months to their babies. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors related to postpartum mothers' knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding in the Tuntungan Health Center work area, Pancur Batu Subdistrict. This study was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The sample in the study were postpartum mothers in the Tuntungan Health Center work area who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, namely 50 people. The data collected were primary data obtained through questionnaires distributed to postpartum mothers. Bivariate analysis was carried out using the chi-square test to determine the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. Based on the study conducted, it is known that there is a relationship between age (p-value = 0.015), education (p-value = 0.026), and parity (p-value = 0.008) with postpartum mothers' knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding. There is no relationship between occupation (p-value = 0.224) and postpartum mothers' knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding. It is recommended that health workers in the Tuntungan Health Center work area, Pancur Batu Subdistrict, to improve the knowledge of postpartum mothers, especially for young mothers (<20 years) and primigravida mothers. It is also recommended that postpartum mothers improve their knowledge through various media, especially social media.

Abstract

Obesity in women of childbearing age is a growing health problem, not only due to dietary patterns and lack of physical activity, but also due to the influence of social and cultural factors. This study aims to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences, perspectives, and habits of women of reproductive age who are obese within the context of local social and cultural norms. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with five primary informants who are obese, as well as triangulation informants from community health workers and healthcare professionals. The results of the study indicate that perceptions of obesity are still predominantly viewed from the perspective of physical appearance rather than health. Social factors such as family eating patterns, snacking habits, comments from others, and lack of physical activity are triggers for obesity. Meanwhile, local culture has a varied influence—some communities are beginning to adopt slim body ideals, while others remain neutral. Obesity also impacts self-confidence, social stigma, and limitations in daily activities. However, most informants expressed hope for a healthier life. This study recommends interventions that consider local cultural values and involve family and community support in obesity prevention effort.
