Abstract

Ergonomic risk is one of the factors contributing to musculoskeletal disorders in nurses due to work activities such as lifting patients, maintaining non-ergonomic postures, and performing repetitive movements. These conditions can impact the health of healthcare workers, work productivity, and the quality of nursing services. This study aims to describe the level of ergonomic risk and musculoskeletal complaints in nurses at Datu Beru Takengon Regional General Hospital. The study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects were nurses working in several hospital service units. Ergonomic risk assessment was carried out using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), while musculoskeletal complaints were measured using the Nordic Body Map (NBM). Analysis was carried out univariately and presented in the form of frequency distribution and percentage. The evaluation results showed that there was still exposure to ergonomic risks in nurses' work activities. Musculoskeletal complaints were predominantly found in the neck, shoulders, back, and waist areas. Factors suspected of contributing include manual patient transfer activities, non-ergonomic work postures, and limited utilization of ergonomic support facilities. Ergonomic risks are still found among nurses at Datu Beru Takengon Regional Hospital and have the potential to increase the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders. Strengthening the ergonomics program through training, providing supporting facilities, and regular evaluations is needed.

Abstract

The phenomenon among pregnant women at the Krueng Barona Jaya Community Health Center, Aceh Besar Regency, showed that mothers with adequate husband’s support were less likely to experience postpartum blues. In contrast, limited husband’s support, parity, and employment were considered contributing factors. This study aimed to determine the relationship between husband’s support, parity, and employment with the incidence of postpartum blues in the Krueng Barona Jaya Community Health Center working area in 2025. A quantitative cross-sectional design was used. The study was conducted from June 23 to July 10, 2025, involving 266 pregnant women, with 73 respondents selected through proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with SPSS version 26. Chi-square analysis showed a significant relationship between husband’s support and postpartum blues (p = 0.01 < 0.05) and between parity and postpartum blues (p = 0.02 < 0.05). Employment was not significantly associated with postpartum blues (p = 0.32 > 0.05). The study concluded that husband’s support and parity were associated with postpartum blues, whereas employment was not associated with postpartum blues among mothers in the Krueng Barona Jaya Community Health Center working area, Aceh Besar.

Abstract

Background: The re-emergence of a polio outbreak necessitates a rapid response through the Sub-National Immunization Week (Sub-PIN) Polio program. Village midwives, as frontline community health service providers, play a strategic role in determining the success of this program through their influence on maternal compliance. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the role of village midwives in improving maternal compliance with the implementation of Sub-PIN Polio in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Patek, Aceh Jaya. Methods: This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document review. The informants consisted of village midwives, mothers of toddlers, posyandu cadres, and the head of the public health center, selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model and validated through triangulation techniques. Results: The findings showed that village midwives effectively performed their roles as educators and motivators, successfully reducing mothers’ anxiety regarding Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) and correcting vaccine-related misinformation through interpersonal communication. As social mobilizers, midwives established cross-sector collaboration with Geuchik (village heads) and religious leaders to mobilize community participation. Furthermore, the implementation of a sweeping strategy (door-to-door outreach) by village midwives became a crucial solution to overcome geographical barriers and mothers’ work-related constraints, thereby significantly increasing compliance. Cultural closeness and community trust were identified as the main supporting factors, while adverse weather conditions and digital misinformation were the primary obstacles. Conclusion: The active and comprehensive role of village midwives is a key determinant in improving maternal compliance and achieving immunization coverage targets during public health emergencies.

Abstract

Climate change is a change in climate conditions caused by human activities, either directly or indirectly, resulting in changes in the global atmospheric composition and changes in natural climate variability over an extended period. Coastal areas are among the most vulnerable regions to the impacts of climate change, including on public health aspects, such as an increased risk of infectious disease due to tidal flooding, abrasion, and extreme weather, as well as disruption to health service access and fishermen's livelihoods. This study aims to examine the impact of climate change on coastal community health and the adaptation strategies that have been and can be implemented. This research uses a literature review method, with data obtained through a search of articles on Google Scholar, official websites, and relevant institutions in accordance with the research theme and title. The results show that structural adaptation strategies in coastal areas such as Ulee Lheue and Gampong Lampulo are carried out through the construction of sea walls to withstand high waves and prevent seawater intrusion, improvement of drainage channels and canal systems to facilitate water flow and reduce inundation due to tidal flooding or heavy rain, as well as the construction of breakwaters to protect the coast from abrasion. In addition, non-structural adaptation through policy and education, as well as community-based adaptation such as mangrove replanting, also play an important role in strengthening the resilience of coastal communities. Although this physical development is effective in the short term, the main challenge faced is the limited local government budget for long-term maintenance and weak cross-sectoral coordination.

Abstract

Hypertension is defined as an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg, measured twice at a five-minute interval while the individual is at rest. One of the major risk factors for hypertension is an unhealthy dietary pattern, including excessive salt intake, high-fat food consumption, and insufficient intake of fruits and vegetables. Hypertension can occur in all population groups, including pre-elderly and elderly individuals. Elderly people experience a decline in physical function, increased susceptibility to diseases, environmental changes, reduced mobility, and various physiological changes that affect their health status. Pre-elderly refers to individuals aged 45–59 years who begin to experience the aging process. This study aimed to determine and analyze the relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of hypertension among pre-elderly and elderly individuals in Keureutou Village, North Aceh. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method with a correlational analytical approach to examine the relationship between two categorical variables, namely dietary patterns and the incidence of hypertension.

Abstract

Aggressive behavior is one of the manifestations commonly found in individuals with mental disorders, and this can potentially cause harm both to themselves and to their surroundings. To address this condition, one non-pharmacological approach that can be implemented is the use of Mozart classical music therapy. This study aims to evaluate the impact of Mozart classical music therapy on patients who have the potential to exhibit violent behavior at Aceh Mental Hospital. The research activities were conducted from July 2 to 5, 2025. The research design adopted in this study is pre-experimental using the One group pretest-posttest Design method. The study subjects consisted of 15 inpatients who had been identified as being at risk for violent behavior, with sample selection carried out through purposive sampling. The findings of the study showed that the average score of signs and symptoms before the intervention was 5.73, with a score range of 3 to 8. After the intervention in the form of Mozart classical music therapy, the average score of signs and symptoms decreased significantly to 1.60, with a range between 1 and 2. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test showed a Z value of -3.437 with a significance level of P = 0.000 (P < 0.05). Based on these results, it can be concluded that Mozart classical music therapy has a significant effect in reducing the risk of violent behavior in patients. Therefore, Mozart classical music therapy is recommended as an effective supportive intervention and can be routinely integrated into psychiatric care rooms.
