Abstract

Irrigation is an important factor in supporting the sustainability of paddy rice farming, especially in areas that depend on surface water sources. A well-functioning irrigation system not only ensures the availability of water for plants, but also affects the smooth cultivation of crops, yield stability, and the sustainability of farming. This study aims to analyze farmers' perceptions of irrigation utilization and identify factors that affect it in the Krueng Jreu Sub Watershed, Aceh Besar Regency. The study used a survey method of 40 paddy farmers selected by simple random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Likert scale and multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that farmers' perception of irrigation utilization is in the good category. This can be seen from the average score of water availability 3.75, water distribution 3.90, system reliability 3.86, economic benefits 4.02, participation and institutions 3.83, and infrastructure maintenance 3.98. The regression results showed that all independent variables simultaneously affected farmers' perceptions with the model's ability to explain 47% of the perception variation. Partially, there are no variables that have a significant influence, but infrastructure maintenance is the most dominant factor. These findings affirm the importance of improving infrastructure, equitable water distribution and strengthening farmer institutions.

Abstract

Oyster gathering is one of the economic activities carried out by coastal communities to support household income. This study aims to analyze the income level and business feasibility of oyster gathering in the coastal area of Lhokseumawe City. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach using survey methods through field observations and interviews with respondents. The population consisted of 45 oyster gatherers, all of whom were selected as respondents using a census sampling technique. Data analysis included cost analysis, revenue analysis, income analysis, and business feasibility analysis using the Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C Ratio). The results show that the average total cost of oyster gathering is IDR 1,782,875 per month, while the average revenue reaches IDR 5,000,000 per month, resulting in a net income of IDR 3,217,125 per month. The R/C Ratio value of 2.80 indicates that the oyster gathering business is economically feasible and profitable. Therefore, oyster gathering has the potential to serve as an alternative livelihood for coastal communities and contributes to improving household income.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication network among agricultural extension workers involved in the implementation of Salibu rice cultivation technology in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach supported by sociometric and sociogram analysis, with data collected through surveys, observations, and interviews. The results show that the communication network follows a Radial Personal Network pattern, with actors functioning as opinion leaders, bridges, liaison officers, and isolates, while educational level, extension experience, and the use of information media influence actors’ positions within the network. Higher participation in the communication network also enhances the effectiveness of information dissemination and supports the adoption of Salibu technology. These findings suggest that strengthening communication networks and optimizing the roles of key actors are essential to improve extension effectiveness and support the sustainable diffusion of Salibu rice cultivation innovation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the roles and strategies of Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis) in developing community-based ecotourism and their contribution to strengthening the local economy in Solok Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a multiple case study design across three locations: Pokdarwis Salingka Usak, Dewita Tigo Ranah, and Kampung Batu. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, subsequently analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results indicate that Pokdarwis has implemented strategic roles across the dimensions of product development, service standardization, and community empowerment. However, stakeholder relations exhibit performance disparities, where stable collaborative networks with external parties have not been uniformly established. Local economic strengthening strategies were successfully realized through the downstreaming of local wisdom-based products, such as the Balai Sawah Tangah Traditional Market, wood crafts, and tourism services that create new business opportunities for villagers. In conclusion, the effectiveness of Pokdarwis as an economic catalyst heavily relies on the integration of authentic product innovation and organizational capacity building. The implications of this study emphasize the necessity of digital transformation and the expansion of multi-stakeholder partnerships to ensure the sustainability of the ecotourism ecosystem. Future researchers are encouraged to quantitatively measure the economic multiplier effect of ecotourism on farm household welfare
