Abstract

Horticulture-based food processing businesses have high value-added potential, but require a thorough financial evaluation to ensure business sustainability. This study aims to analyze the financial feasibility and sensitivity of the okra chips business in XYZ SMEs during the period 2021–2025 with a quantitative descriptive approach using primary and secondary data. The financial feasibility analysis was carried out using the Net Present Value (NPV), Gross Benefit Cost Ratio (Gross B/C), Net Benefit Cost Ratio (Net B/C), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period (PP) indicators, and was complemented by sensitivity analysis to changes in investment, operational costs, and benefits. The results of the study show that the okra chips business is feasible to develop with a positive NPV value of IDR 990,112,958, Gross B/C of 1,337, Net B/C of 3,870, IRR of 88.48% which is greater than the Discount Rate, and a Payback Period of 0.9997 years, while sensitivity analysis shows that businesses are relatively insensitive to the increase in initial investment but sensitive to changes in operational costs and receipts.

Abstract

Social capital plays an important role in strengthening farmer groups, promoting collective action, and enhancing the resilience of smallholder farmers. However, research on social capital in the agricultural sector remains fragmented and lacks integration across theory, context, characteristics, and methodology. This study aims to systematically examine and map the development, intellectual structure, thematic trends, and research gaps regarding social capital in farmer groups through a systematic literature review approach and bibliometric analysis based on the TCCM framework. A set of Scopus-indexed peer-reviewed articles was analyzed using VOSviewer to identify publication trends, keyword linkages, and major thematic clusters. The results indicate that social capital occupies a central position in farmer group research and is closely associated with smallholder farmers, collective action, cooperatives, climate change adaptation, and agricultural development. Despite its growing attention, most studies continue to emphasize social networks and economic outcomes, while the internal dimensions of social capital—such as trust, norms, and participation—and their role in strengthening farmer group institutions remain underexplored. This study highlights the need for stronger integration between theoretical perspectives, local contexts, social capital characteristics, and diverse methodological approaches. The findings provide a foundation for future research agendas and offer insights for designing more effective and sustainable farmer group empowerment strategies based on social capital.

Abstract

Agricultural counseling through Field Schools (SL) has become a strategic approach in improving farmers' knowledge, but its effectiveness is often constrained by the quality of learning modules that are not structured, lack of supporting visuals, and are not accompanied by adequate evaluation instruments. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the ADDIE-based Great Rice SL Module in improving farmers' knowledge through a quantitative evaluation approach. The module was applied to 10 farmers participating in the Field School, and the effectiveness of learning was measured using the NGain test, knowledge structure analysis with Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and mapping the relationship between indicators through Pearson correlation. The results showed that the Great Rice SL module was able to increase farmers' knowledge with a medium effectiveness category, as reflected in the NGain value on three core variables: rice cultivation knowledge (0.31), disease identification (0.40), and balanced fertilization (0.41). The PCA analysis showed that the farmer's knowledge structure formed three main latent factors explaining the 26.9%, 19.1%, and 13% variances, respectively related to basic cultivation knowledge, field diagnostic capabilities, and fertilization technical skills. The results of the correlation visualization confirmed the existence of a strong positive relationship between the indicator plates, showing that the increase in knowledge occurred consistently in various aspects measured. Overall, the ADDIE-based SL Padi Hebat module has proven to be effective in increasing farmers' knowledge moderately and consistently, as well as reflecting the relevance of the module in supporting technical learning in the Field School program.

Abstract

Consumption of coffee in Indonesia has increased alongside changes in people's lifestyles, particularly among the younger generation. Surakarta is a relatively advanced city, both economically and socially. Surakarta’s high urbanization rate and youthful demographic profile provide a fertile environment for the coffee retail sector. Consequently, this study examines the consumption behaviors of Generation Z in the region. Utilizing a descriptive quantitative method with a survey approach, this study sampled 30 samples. Research findings on coffee consumption behavior among Generation Z in Surakarta revealed that the majority of respondents had adopted a coffee-drinking routine for more than three years. This phenomenon indicates a deep integration between coffee consumption and contemporary behavioral patterns and lifestyles in this demographic group. Coffee is consumed moderately, at 2–3 times per week, with most people tending to order one cup each time. The most popular time to drink coffee is at night, suggesting that it plays a role in supporting study, work and social activities. Cappuccino is the most popular type of coffee drink, reflecting Generation Z's preference for coffee with a balanced taste and a milk base. The most popular places to purchase coffee are warung or angkringan, suggesting that affordability, accessibility and a relaxed atmosphere are the main considerations when purchasing coffee.

Abstract

The increase in the quantity of Indonesian coconut exports was not accompanied by an increase in export value. This condition indicates an indication of low competitiveness. Competitiveness is a general concept used to refer to market commitment to international competition. The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend in export volume and export value obtained by Indonesia and analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian coconut exports in the international market. The methods used in this study were descriptive analysis and RCA. The results of the study indicate that Indonesia has a high growth trend in the quantity of coconut exports but is not accompanied by an increase in export value. This condition is caused by efforts used to win the competition, namely setting low prices due to the availability of abundant raw materials and relatively cheap labor costs. Based on the results of the RCA analysis, Indonesia ranks fifth as the country with the lowest RCA index after Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Low competitiveness is caused by weak implementation of minimum export price regulations and a lack of post-harvest technology development.

Abstract

The agricultural sector ranks third as the largest contributor to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Serang Regency is the second-largest rice-producing region in Banten Province. The agricultural sector’s contribution to Serang Regency’s Regional Gross Domestic Product (RGDP) was recorded at 9,47% in 2023, highlighting the sector’s strategic role in the local economy. However, the magnitude of this contribution does not align with the current state of farmer succession, which continues to face serious challenges, marked by a low proportion of young farmers compared to older farmers. This situation could threaten the sustainability of food production as well as future socioeconomic stability. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors influencing rice farmer succession in Serang Regency. This study employs a quantitative approach. The study location was selected using a purposive sampling method in Serang Regency, based on its status as the second-largest rice-producing area in Banten Province. The research instrument consists of a closed-ended questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale. The sample in this study consists of rice farmers in Serang Regency, specifically in Tanara and Cikeusal sub-districts, aged 19–39 years, with a total sample size of 105 respondents. The analysis in this study employs Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results of this study indicate that individual and social factors have a positive effect on farmer succession, while inhibiting factors have a negative effect on farmer succession. Meanwhile, economic factors, motivational factors, and government policies have no effect on farmer succession.

Abstract

Abstract This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Agrosolution Program in optimizing oil palm productivity among farmer groups under the KUD Kumbang Jaya cooperative in Sidomakmur Village, Banyuasin Regency. The research is driven by the phenomenon of low yields in smallholder plantations, triggered by barriers to high-quality production inputs, delayed technology adoption, and a lack of continuous technical guidance. As a strategic solution, the Agrosolution Program, initiated by PT Pupuk Indonesia, employs an ecosystem-based approach that integrates technical assistance, provision of superior agricultural inputs, accessible financing, and marketing guarantees. Methodologically, this research adopts a descriptive quantitative design involving 94 oil palm farmers selected through purposive sampling. Primary data collected via observations and questionnaires were analyzed using a multiple linear regression model to examine variable effects both partially and simultaneously. The findings confirm that the Agrosolution Program intervention significantly impacts production enhancement. Specifically, technical assistance and fertilization technology emerge as the primary contributors with a significant influence, while the offtaker’s role shows a positive trend, though statistically it has not yet reached a dominant significance level. The R2 value indicates that the combination of variables in the model accounts for 47% of the variation in farmer production. Furthermore, comparative analysis confirms a substantial leap in productivity after farmers adopted the Agrosolution scheme. These results demonstrate that the program is an effective instrument for strengthening the independence and production capacity of smallholder oil palm farmers in the region. Keywords: Agrosolution Program, production, oil palm, farmer groups, cooperative.
