Abstract

Language is the most important component in human life. Humans would not be able to continue their lives properly and regularly without language. They cannot interact easily and well if they do not master each other's language and in the absence of continuity they are also unable to capture the mental expressions or desires expressed by their communication partners. This also causes separation and a lack of emotional connection with each other. Language is the most effective communication tool in conveying messages, thoughts, feelings, goals to other people and makes it possible to create cooperation between people. So that the role of language becomes very dominant in various daily human activities. The aim of this research is to describe things related to Indonesian as a communication tool in learning. The method used in this research is the literature review method, data is collected from relevant library data. The results of this research and discussion are to explain language as a communication tool which includes discussing the function of language as a tool of human communication. Humans are social creatures who interact, cooperate and establish social contacts in society. Language allows humans to form social groups to fulfill their need to live together.

Abstract

The use of language in teaching and learning interactions must basically use language that is clear and can be understood by students. Each lecturer has different views on the use of language in learning interactions. If in a speech event there is a transition from a clause of a language to a clause of another language, then the event that occurs is code switching. But if in a speech event, what is used consists of mixed clauses and phrases (hybrid clauses, hybrid phrases), then the event that occurs is code-mixing. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach because the data is presented in the form of words (descriptions) systematically, facts. The data collection technique in this research uses the listening method, along with its advanced techniques, namely tapping techniques, free listening techniques (SBLC), recording techniques and recording techniques. Based on the results found in the learning process at UIN North Sumatra, Medan, especially the Tadris Indonesian Language Study Program in semester VI. During five days between April 22-26, 2023. Three code-switching utterances and three code-mixing utterances were found.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KPM) is a university initiative aimed at applying students' knowledge and skills to contribute directly to the community. In Lampanah Settlement, Seulimeum District, Aceh Besar Regency, the KPM program implemented by STISIP Al Washliyah Banda Aceh students is expected to have a positive impact on the community. However, community perceptions of this program need to be evaluated to ensure the effective implementation of KPM activities. This study aims to analyze the perceptions of the Lampanah Settlement community towards the KPM program by STISIP Al Washliyah Banda Aceh students. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The sampling technique used the Slovin formula, distributing e-questionnaires to 212 samples from a total population of 450, with a 5% margin of error in Lampanah Settlement. The results show that: 1) 65% of respondents had a positive perception, 20% were neutral, and 25% were negative; 2) 70% of respondents viewed the benefits of the activities as high, 15% as moderate, 6% as neutral, and 4% as low; 3) Communication barriers included language (20%), cultural differences (45%), and technological constraints (25%). Interviews revealed that the Lampanah Settlement community generally had a positive perception of the KPM program, appreciating students' contributions to education, health, and economic empowerment. However, factors such as ineffective student communication and limited community involvement in planning and implementing programs were identified as areas needing improvement.
