Abstract

Background. The development of tourism villages is a crucial strategy for promoting sustainable community-based tourism in Indonesia. Sleman Regency is an area with significant growth in tourism villages but still faces challenges in resilience, sustainability, and adherence to the principles of community-based tourism. Purpose. This study aims to examine the legislative framework and assessment indicators in the classification of tourism villages in Sleman Regency from a sociopolitical perspective and tourism sustainability. Method. The method used is a qualitative-descriptive approach, combined with relevant policy and regulatory analysis, and the mapping of tourism village assessment indicators sourced from regional regulations, national standards, and international standards for sustainable tourism. Conclusion. The results of the study show that the Sleman tourism village classification system has adopted the principle of sustainability through institutional indicators, community empowerment, environmental and cultural preservation, risk mitigation, and local economic utilization. However, implementing these indicators still faces challenges in terms of consistency, human resource capacity, and village readiness to withstand external pressures such as disasters and climate change. Implementation. This research emphasizes the importance of strengthening operational legislation and periodic evaluation as strategic instruments for ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of tourism villages.

Abstract

Background. The tourism sector in Indonesia plays a strategic role in national economic growth; however, its performance is constrained by fragmented supply chains, lack of integration among stakeholders, and the absence of a unified digital platform. Aims. This study aims to design an Enterprise Architecture (EA) for a Tourism Supply Chain Management (TSCM) digital platform that integrates tourism actors from upstream to downstream. Methods. The research adopts a qualitative design approach, utilizing Focus Group Discussions (FGD) involving 110 participants representing tourism associations, service providers, local governments, and tourists. Result. The findings reveal critical issues related to distribution inefficiencies, price instability, service quality inconsistency, and supply uncertainty. Based on stakeholder needs analysis, the study develops an enterprise architecture blueprint comprising a Business Model Canvas, application service process flow, service network design, organizational structure, and graphical user interface (GUI). Conclusion. The proposed architecture provides a comprehensive framework for coordinating information, distribution processes, and payment systems within the tourism supply chain. Implementation. This research contributes a structured EA-based solution that supports efficiency, price stability, and service quality enhancement in Indonesia’s tourism industry.

Abstract

Background. Effective and innovative marketing strategies can be a key factor in increasing income and fostering economic growth in the Tourism Village. MSMEs are an important sector in supporting the development of tourist villages because they serve as drivers of the community's economy by leveraging local potential. Therefore, the right marketing strategy is needed. Aims. The urgency of the research arises from the obstacles faced, including limited human resources, insufficient training, limited innovation in marketing, and low use of digital media for promoting MSME products. Method. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, including interviews, observations, documentation, and literature reviews. The study's results show that MSMEs' marketing strategy in Belawa Tourism Village remains conventional and has not been integrated with digital strategies. Conclusion. MSME actors rely more on direct sales to tourists and word-of-mouth promotions. However, there is significant potential for growth through social media-based marketing strategies, product quality improvements, and strengthened local branding. Implementation. Village government support and training for MSME actors are urgently needed to improve product competence and competitiveness.

Abstract

Background. The development of illegal tourism infrastructure in residential areas has triggered ecosystem degradation, with a direct impact on the quality of the environment and the welfare of local communities, thereby contravening the principles of environmental protection stipulated in Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management. Weak supervision and implementation of environmental permits exacerbate the risk of ecological damage in residential areas. Aims. This research aims to analyze the compensation mechanism for residents affected by ecosystem damage and examine the effectiveness of environmental mitigation efforts within the applicable legal framework. Method. This research employs a normative juridical method, with a legislative approach, through an analysis of legal norms, environmental law principles, and relevant legal documents. Results. The results of the study show that the affected community has the right to file a civil lawsuit or class action based on the principle of strict liability to obtain material, immaterial, and environmental restoration damages. Mitigation efforts are carried out through the stages of prevention (EIA), pollution control, and restoration of ecosystem function.Conclusion. This study concludes that although the legal framework has comprehensively regulated protection and mitigation mechanisms, its effectiveness is still hampered by weak field supervision, so it is necessary to strengthen the licensing and environmental supervision system to realize sustainable and equitable tourism development.

Abstract

Background. The development of community-based tourism villages is a tourism development strategy that aims to improve the welfare of local communities while maintaining the sustainability of natural and cultural resources. One of the key actors in the development of tourism villages is the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), which serves as a driver, manager, and facilitator of tourism activities at the village level. Aims. This study aims to analyze the role of Pokdarwis in the development of Matangaji Tourism Village, Cirebon Regency; identify factors that support and hinder their role; and formulate strategies to enhance their contribution to the sustainable development of tourism villages. Method. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews and field observations. The research informants include Pokdarwis administrators, village officials, and communities involved in village tourism activities. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to obtain a comprehensive picture of the role and dynamics of Pokdarwis in the development of tourist villages. Results. The study results indicate that the Matangaji Village Pokdarwis play a relatively strategic role in the development of tourist villages, particularly in driving community participation, managing tourism activities, and promoting local tourism potential. However, this role is suboptimal due to limited human resource capacity, limited funding, and insufficient stakeholder synergy. The main supporting factors include local tourism potential, community support, and institutional legitimacy from the village government, while the inhibiting factors include the lack of training, mentoring, and cross-sector coordination. Conclusion. Based on these findings, this study recommends a strategy to expand the role of Pokdarwis by strengthening human resource capacity, strengthening institutional and organizational governance, increasing funding, and enhancing stakeholder collaboration. This strategy is expected to promote the sustainable development of Matangaji Tourism Village in Cirebon Regency by empowering local communities.

Abstract

Background. The Cirebon Mask Dance, an Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTB) of Indonesia that is rich in philosophical values, is now at a crucial crossroads. On the one hand, there are internal challenges related to the regeneration and transmission of knowledge. On the other hand, the wave of digital tourism, mediated by visual platforms such as Instagram, presents massive commodification pressure. This phenomenon transforms cultural representations from holistic narratives into aesthetic fragments curated for quick consumption in the digital space, or popularly referred to as Instagramable content. Purpose. This research aims to unravel the dialectic between the efforts to preserve authenticity by the artist community and the commodification forces at work in the digital tourism ecosystem. Using the critical phenomenological framework of Pierre Bourdieu, this study will examine how symbolic capital (cultural authenticity) is negotiated, transformed, and even reduced in the digital tourism 'arena'. This study fills the research gap by not only focusing on the impact of tourism, but also analyzing the mechanisms of symbolic violence that occur when digital aesthetics dominate and shape tourist perceptions, potentially eroding the sacred and philosophical meaning of the Cirebon Mask Dance. Method. This study adopts a qualitative approach with a multisite case study design. Data collection will be carried out through a hybrid method that combines (1) Netnography and Visual Content Analysis (VCA) on the Instagram platform to map patterns of representation and digital commodification, and (2) In-depth interviews and participatory observations with dance maestros, young artists, studio managers, and tourism stakeholders in Cirebon. Triangulation of data from the virtual world and field reality will be analyzed thematically to uncover tensions, adaptation strategies, and emerging forms of cultural resistance. Results. The results of this study are expected to make three main contributions. Theoretically, this research will produce a conceptual model of WBTB's cultural resilience in the face of digital commodification. Conclusion. In practical terms, these findings will form the basis for the formulation of digital literacy modules aimed at the artist community, equipping them with the tools to manage their own cultural representations. In terms of policy, this research will produce a policy brief that provides strategic recommendations for local governments to develop sustainable cultural tourism, which balances between economic promotion and preservation of cultural dignity.
