Abstract

Children's dental health problems are caused by poor children's dental health maintenance behavior. Maintaining oral health in school-aged children still depends on their parents, because parents are the example and role model for every child. The most basic act of maintaining dental and oral health is brushing your teeth. For this reason, it is necessary to instill good and correct teeth-brushing habits. The habit of brushing teeth can be practiced regularly every day and monitored by parents using the wand's time table method. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of parental monitoring on children's tooth brushing habits using the wand's time table method. The type of research is quasi-experimental with a cross-sectional method and a one-group pretest and post-test design. The population was 15 students, while the sample was 20 based on the total sampling technique. From the results of the research carried out, it was found that parental monitoring of children's teeth brushing was partially in the good category, namely 4 respondents. The results of children's habits in brushing their teeth using the wand's time table method were mostly in the very good category, namely 16 respondents. The behavioral results (knowledge, attitudes, and actions) of children in brushing their teeth have increased after monitoring by parents using the wand's time table method, most of which are in the good category and have increased. The results of research conducted at Khalifah 4 Kindergarten show that there is an influence of parental monitoring using the wand's time table method on children's teeth-brushing habits, where ρ = 0.000. It is hoped that parents will gain insight into maintaining dental health in particular. Keywords: Habit; Changes in Behavior; Time Table :

Abstract

Dental and oral health should be taken care of from an early age, as dental condition can affect dental health in adulthood. Our gums can get damaged if we don't brush our teeth often, especially before going to bed. Gingiva is a part of the mucous membrane of the mouth that surrounds the tooth neck and covers an ungrown crown. It serves as a structural support for the surrounding tissue. The study investigated the relationship between the health status of the gums and the habit of brushing teeth at night in children aged 10-12 years. This research uses quantitative research with analytical observational design and a purposive sampling approach which means that samples are determined with certain considerations or have criteria to be met. The study involved 143 students aged between 10 and 12 at SD Inpres Unggulan BTN Pemda, with 66 samples. The results showed that 34 people (51.5%) brushed their teeth at night, while 32 people (48.5%) did not. Among the children who brushed their teeth at night, five (7.6%) had healthy gums, 28 (42.4%) had mild inflammation, and one (1.5%) had moderate inflammations. Among children who didn't brush their tooth at night there were none of them having a healthy gum, 24 (36.4%) experienced mild inflamation. The results of statistical research show that p 0.05 is 0.005. So, there's a significant link between the habit of brushing teeth at night and the health of the gums.

Abstract

Dental and oral health is one of the supporting factors for public health. Tooth extraction procedures are the most common cause of dental anxiety. One way to reduce dental anxiety is through nonpharmacological interventions. Music therapy is an example of nonpharmacological intervention. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of instrumental music therapy on the patient's anxiety level during permanent tooth extraction at the Community Health Center. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research group pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling where the samples taken were patients with indications for tooth extraction who came to visit the Batang Community Health Center as many as 30 patients. Data analysis in this study used a paired t-test to see the difference. The results of this study found significant differences in the anxiety levels of patients who were not given music therapy (p>0.12) and those who were given music therapy (p>0.01). This study concluded that there was no significant effect of anxiety levels before and after tooth extraction in patients who did not receive music therapy. Whereas for patients who received music therapy there was a significant influence of anxiety levels before and after tooth extraction.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need to explore more natural alternatives in assessing the level of oral hygiene. Commonly used disclosing solutions often contain chemicals, prompting this study to evaluate the potential of dragon fruit solution as a safer and more economical option. The research aims to compare the effectiveness of dragon fruit solution with disclosing solution in measuring the PHP-M Index among students of the Diploma IV Dental Therapy Program at Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar. The research method involved 21 subjects who were treated with dragon fruit solution and disclosing solution, and their plaque indices were measured. The results indicated that the dragon fruit solution yielded comparable outcomes to the disclosing solution, with the majority of respondents falling into the 'moderate' criteria. Statistical analysis revealed no significant differences between the two treatments. In conclusion, dragon fruit solution has the potential to replace disclosing solution in measuring the PHP-M Index, offering a natural and affordable alternative. These findings provide a basis for considering more environmentally friendly alternatives in dental hygiene assessment practices. Abstract

Knowledge about dental and oral health is something that a person knows about maintaining dental health. A common problem faced regarding dental and oral health problems is the presence of remaining roots, which is a condition where the crown of the tooth is lost due to caries which has destroyed the tooth enamel so that only the root remains. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence between knowledge of remaining tooth roots in patients aged 20-60 years at the Mappaodang Dental Therapist Clinic, Makassar. This research is a quantitative research by processing validated questionnaire data and then carrying out a statistical test of the linearity of the relationship between the respondent's knowledge and the remaining tooth roots. The results of this research are that there is a relationship between knowledge on the remaining tooth roots as shown by the statistical test data. The calculated F value is 33.152 with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.005, which means there is a relationship between the independent variable (knowledge) and the dependent variable (Y).
