Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text with audiobased asynchronous approach as remote learning at second grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Makassar. The researcher used quantitative research. The sample of this research was second grade students of SMP Negeri 21 Makassar, which consisted of 25 students. The sample was taken by using pre-test and post-test questions. Based on the findings, it was found that the students improved in teaching reading comprehension in narrative tect with an audio-based asynchronous approach as a form of remote learning. The results of this research showed that the score of pre-test was 52.6 and post-test was 78. This research also showed the value of t-test was higher than the value of t-table (T-test > T-table). The value of t-test was 7.56 and the value of t-table was 2.063. it means the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher concluded that the audio-based asynhrnous approach as remote learning was an excellent method for enhancing students reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether or not the use of paragraph graphic organizer from Brain POP can improve the writing ability of the eleventh grade students of SMA Datuk ribandang. The subjects of this research consisted of 54 students and it was divided into 2 classes, 27 students for control classand 27 students for experimental class at the eleventh grade of SMA Datuk Ribandang. The method that was used by the researcher in this research was quasi-experimental design which involved two classes with different treatment, namely experimental class and control class. The instruments used for collecting data namely writing test.  The result of the data indicated that, the use of graphic organizer from BrainPop is effective than conventional (free writing) technique in improving students’ writing ability. Graphic organizer from BrainPop helps to make easier for the students in improving their writing ability. It is proved by the hypothesis result where p value (0.000) is smaller than α value (0.05). And it is also proved by the mean score of pre-test and post-test in experimental class and control class. It shows that pre-test mean score in experimental class is bigger than control class both content (24.44 > 22.22), organization (20.55 > 20.37), language use (23.52 > 21.29) and Writing Ability (68.51 > 63.88). Then, post-test mean score in experimental class is bigger than control class both content (33.15 > 29.07), organization (28.88 > 27.78), language use (31.48 > 27.03) and writing ability (93.51 > 83.88).It means that graphic organizer helps the students in increasing their writing ability and also can be an effective tool used in the writing process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze pedagogic practices and changes in ICT in the learning and achievement of certified English teachers at SMPN 28 Selayar. This study uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach, using data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation studies.Based on the findings, it was found that pedagogic practices and ICT changes in English learning were very good, this was seen from the enthusiastic English teachers in developing the potential of students, teachers always motivate students in the teaching and learning process to be more active in learning so that the potential possessed by students can increase. The learning activities carried out by the teacher are not only listening to learning in the classroom but also outside the classroom using several teaching methods. Group discussions and question and answer are methods that are very liked by students, of course, supported by learning media such as LCD projectors, radios, laptops and so on that can support learning so that students are highly motivated in participating in teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

This study aimed to discover students' perception of online speaking classes particularly about students' participation and classroom interaction using a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of this study were fourth-semester students of the English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The study used interviews as an instrument to collect in this study.Based on the results of the study, student participation in taking online speaking classes is very high, this can be seen from the activeness of students in participating starting from a high level of attendance, preparing before entering class, being active in class discussions, contributing to group assignments, and being active in their abilities. improved communication. In addition, students have a positive perspective on class interactions. This can be proven by the existence of various types of interactions during this online speaking class.

Abstract

This thesis aims to find out whether or not the E-Dictionary is effective in enhancing the students’ vocabulary mastery of VII A class of SMP Negeri 3 Bajeng.This research was a pre-experimental design that used pre-test and post-test. The population of this research is the VII grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Bajeng and to take the sample researcher used random cluster sampling. The research sample was 30 students. The research instrument was a vocabulary test consisting of 10 items of multiple choice.The result of the data shows that there was a difference between pre-test and post-test students. The main score of students before giving the treatment was 45 and it improved to 75.33 after applying the E-Dictionary. In addition, from t-test analysis, it was obtained that the t-test value was greater than t-table, and students’ vocabulary mastery in total (14.37>2.045). The hypothesis of this research can be concluded that Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) is accepted. It means that E-Dictionary was effective to enhance the students’ vocabulary.
