Abstract

This study aims to find out whether Contextual Redefinition Strategy (CRS) was effective to enhance vocabulary at the 10th grade of SMK Negeri 2 Selayar. This research used quasi experimental design. The population of this research was the tenth-grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Selayar which consisted of 60 students. The sample of this research was 40 students taken by purposive sampling technique. The researcher used vocabulary test as the instrument of this research. Based on the research findings, the result showed that using Contextual Redefinition Strategy (CRS) was effective to enhance students’ vocabulary. It is proved by the means score of post–test between experimental group and control group. The means score in experimental group before and after treatment (47.15 became 89.50) and in control group before and after treatment (44.05 became 59.40) Moreover, the findings revealed that  p-value of post-test score was 0.000 with the level significance 5% (0.05). It can be concluded that p-value (0.000) < sig ɑ = (0.05, 5%). Then, the effect size gained was 2.8. Thus, it proved that Contextual Redefinition Strategy (CRS) was effective at a strong level on students’ vocabulary in reading comprehension.

Abstract

This study aims to see how to higher order thinking through oral presentations can improve speaking ability in learning English at the eleven grade of SMA NEGERI 12 GOWA. This research used quantitative research with a pre-experimental approach. The researcher gave pre-test to students, and then the researcher gave the students’ treatment using higher order thinking approach through oral presentation. After treatment is given, researcher gives the students’ post-test.The population in this study were students of the class XI IPA SMAN 12 Gowa. The sample of this research was the students of the class XI IPA 2, included 20 students. The result showed that the t-test value was higher than t-table value. The t-test value of speaking in terms of pronounciation is greater than t-table (8.03 > 2.09302), the t-test in terms of grammar is greater than t-table (7.66 > 2.09302), the t-test in terms of vocabulary is greater than t-table (7.25 > 2.09302) and t-test in terms of fluency is greater than t-table (7.68 > 2.09302). The results calculate the t-test of the indicators speaking in the students’t-test in pronounciation, grammar, vocabulary and fluency is greater than t-table (30.62 > 2.09302). It was concluded tha the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. That means there were significant differences between the results of student pronounciation, grammar, vocabulary and fluency in speaking ability by using higher order thinking approach through oral presentation.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out if the use of pre-reading strategies was capable of increased students’ learning result of 9th grade students’ at SMP Negeri 16 Bulukumba. This research was divided class into 2 classes that refer to the control class and experimental class. The researcher data were collected through pre-test and post-test given to students and analyzing data using SPSS. The test gives to students in the form of pre-test as the beginning and post-test as the end of learning after given the treatment. The subject of the study was the students of grade 9th at SMP Negeri 16 Bulukumba as the research location and taking samples with a total population of 89 9th grade students while the sample used was 60 students, 30 students in control class and 30 students in experimental class. The result of this study showed that the pre-reading strategies could improve students’ learning result in reading comprehension where the pre-test of generic tructure is 78 and post-test is 80 for control class, while for experimental class the pre-test is 66.33 and 81 for post-test. For vocabulary results of control class, the pre-test is 77.66 and 92.33 for post-test (noun) 52.33 pre-test and 64.83 post-test (verb). In experimental class the pre-test is 59.66 and 91 for post-test (noun), 47.66 pre-test and 67.7 post-test (verb). in the end the value conclude of reading comprehension students’ in control class are 69.33 for pretest, 79.05 for postest. While in experiment class 57.88 for pretest and 79.9 for posttest. The students’ learning result that have been contained in this study showed improvement. On the initial ability of students’ pre-test the result obtained by students’ the average score of the class is less than  post-test result, both in control class and experimental class, the result obtained by students’ in both of control and experimental class an increase in students’ learning result in reading comprehension. And it is proven again from the results of the analysis of the "paired sample test" using SPSS, it was known that the significance value obtained is 0.000 < 0.05 for experimental class and 0.001 < 0.005 for control class. This can be seen from the guidelines of making decision where if the value of Sig. (2- taled) < 0.05 then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This shows that the use pre-reading strategies is effective in improving the students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of information technology in office administration management in schools. To support the smooth running of the process Learning certainly requires supporting facilities so that all activities are neatly and efficiently organized. Information technology is here to help the school administration process become more effective and efficient. Of course, it is not only the school administration that will be helped, but communication between teachers, staff and students will improve. Information technology in office administration management also certainly helps manage finances and manage school personnel. The purpose of this article is is to review how the administration system is based information technology to streamline the performance of teaching staff and staff in schools. Method used is descriptive qualitative.

Abstract

This study aims to explain and analyze the process of implementing the revitalization of Lake Tempe in Wajo Regency. In addition, to find out what factors in the revitalization process that encourage the emergence of conflict in the handling of Lake Tempe. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data used in this study are primary data obtained from interviews and secondary data collected through literature review and documentation. The data analysis method used is descriptive analysis of the results of interviews based on the theoretical framework used in this study. The theory used is the Policy Perspective, Conflict Theory, and the Concept of Revitalization. The results of the study show that the existence of a policy process is one form of handling that has been carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing through the Wajo Regency government in the context of the implications of Lake Tempe by carrying out the revitalization of Lake Tempe. The government by way of the Tempe Lake revitalization program received different responses from the community which prompted the emergence of conflicts. The factors in the revitalization process that led to conflicts in the handling of Lake Tempe are: There are differences in perceptions of water levels, changes in patterns and utilization of Lake Tempe resources, There are fears of decreasing income.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how to develop the capacity of female legislative candidates in the 2019 legislative elections in Makassar City. This study seeks to find out how the capacity building is carried out by political parties for female legislative candidates and see what are the obstacles faced by both political parties and legislative candidates in facing the 2019 legislative elections. This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis research method. The data used in this study is primary data, data collected or obtained directly through direct observation in the field or the form of direct interviews. Secondary data is data obtained or collected by people researching existing sources. This data is usually from the library or previous research reports. The results of this study indicate that there is capacity building for women candidates carried out by political parties by sending cadres to attend training/workshops/training or discussions about political developments which are usually carried out by both political parties and parties outside the party, in this case, NGOs who are concerned in the field of transformation. political parties as called IRI (International Republic Institute). In addition, there are also briefings conducted by the DPP, these briefings are carried out regularly and periodically. Meanwhile, party officials stated that the debriefing carried out by the DPP for female cadres was based on quotas (usually 2 people were sent). Constraints in the implementation of political education for women cadres of the Nasdem Party in South Sulawesi came from the internal side of women cadres such as the low self-confidence of women in practical politics, family permits, financing of political activities, and the problem of dividing time between party activities and taking care of the family, limited party funds. politics in carrying out political education; a bad image (stereotype) of a less permissive society towards women who are active in parties and; laws and regulations that do not explicitly regulate sanctions for parties that are not serious in carrying out political education for female cadres.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out whether there was Emphatic Listening and how it was implemented at Benteng Panynyua English Club (BPEC) Makassar. This study uses a qualitative descriptive design. The research subjects in this study were members of the Benteng Panynyua English Club (BPEC) Makassar. For data collection, researchers used the Observation Checklist as an instrument for collecting data from the sample.The research results from the observation checklist suggest that there are 8 qualities that need to be considered in determining whether there is Emphatic Listening in BPEC and how to apply it. First, attendance. 57% of members from meetings 1,2&3 attended and participated in the discussion. Second, compassion, 75% of members apply this quality. Third, wisdom. 75% applied this quality. Fourth, not judgmental. 70% of members do not justify other people's opinions. Fifth, trustworthiness. 25% occurred during the discussion because this quality depends on the topics discussed during the discussion. Sixth, 100% patient was applied. Seventh, responsive. 100% of members responded well. Eighth, focus your attention. 100% of members implement this, such as not using electronic devices when discussing except when necessary.Based on the findings of this researcher it was found that there was emphatic listening and it was applied well to all members of the BPEC discussion.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine students' perceptions regarding the use of the Busuu application in learning English for class XI students at SMAN 9 Wajo. Researcher used quantitative descriptive research. The sample for this research was class XI students at SMAN 9 Wajo, totaling 20 students. Samples were taken using a questionnaire. Based on the findings, it was found that students gave positive perceptions about the use of Busuu in learning English, positive responses came from their experiences in the learning process. The research results showed that based on Likerts score analysis there were 19 (100%) students in the positive perception category with a score classification of 60-100, and no students had a negative perception. It is categorized that Busuu used in English language learning is effective to apply, helps the learning process in the classroom. Recommendations for further research are to conduct research related to the use of Busuu in teaching and learning processes such as Cake, Duolingo, along with technological advances that continue to increase from time to time.

Abstract

Peningkatan jumlah penduduk setiap tahunnya menjadi salah satu perhatian Pemerintah dan tenaga kesehatan. Program Pemasangan Kb gratis menjadi salah satu upaya untuk menjarangkan kehamilan dan menekan angka kelahiran. Metode kontasepsi jangka panjang dinilai efektif untuk mengatasi masalah peningkatan penduduk. Namun, penggunaan implan dan IUD masih sedikit dibandingkan KB jenis lain. Tujuan Pengabdian masyarakat Ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan Pasangan usia subur (PUS) sehingga angka pengguna Implan dan IUD meningkat. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini dimulai dari tahap perencanaan, pemberian edukasi terkait KB jangka panjang dengan metode ceramah,  tanya jawab dan dilanjutkan dengan Pemasangan KB implan dan IUD. Hasil pangabdian masyarakat ini yaitu adanya peningkatan pengetahuan Pasangan Usia Subur mengenai KB Implan dan IUD. Dari total 23 peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan ini terdapat 20 orang (86,95%) sebagai akseptor Implan dan 3 orang (13,04%) akseptor IUD. Ini menandakan adanya peningkatan jumlah pengguna dari KB Implan dan IUD.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the students’ reading habits through The Identity-Based Habits Laws at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The data were collected at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. This research used a descriptive qualitative method, and the instruments used an interview. The findings of this research show that students have diverse reading habits, preferences, and time spent. They prefer apps, textbooks, and various genres. Distractions like cellphone interference and notifications can hinder reading experiences. Consistent reading habits, schedules, and discipline were essential. The result of the interview of this research showed that The Identity-Based Habits Laws at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar outlines four key habits to improve students' reading habits: making reading obvious, making reading attractive, making reading easy, and making reading satisfying. These habits involve reducing distractions, engaging in conversations with friends, setting simple goals, and finding books that help overcome life's challenges, focusing on genres like novels, fiction, fantasy, action, crime, dark romance, and self-development.
