Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk lakukan analisis terhadap pendekatan structural dalam cerpen Ros dan Mantan-Mantannya. Penelitian ini termasuk kedalam kelompok penelitian kualitatif yang memiliki tujuan menganalisis pendekatan struktural pada cerpen Ros Dan Mantan-mantannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif-deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi teknik membaca, teknik menyimak, dan teknik mencatat. Teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif Miles dan Herbermar yang memiliki empat tahap yakni; proses pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Sumber data yang dimaksud dalam artikel ini adalah subjek dan objek. Hasil penelitian pendekatan structural menunjukan bahwa cerpen tersebut berkaitan antar unsur intrisiknya mulai dari tema, tokoh dan penokohan, latar, alur, sudut pandang hingga amanat saling mendukung satu sama lain dan membantuk satu kesatuan yang utuh. Simpulan yang dapat diambil adalah Cerpen Ros dan mantan-mantannya karya Dumhuri Muhammad tersusun dengan sangat teratur dan rapi, hingga setiap unsur saling berhubungan dengan erat.

Abstract

Politeness in digital communication is a crucial aspect that reflects students' sociolinguistic competence in the digital era. This study is motivated by the low awareness among students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at Universitas Sindang Kasih Majalengka in applying principles of politeness when interacting through digital media. Common issues include the use of informal language, non-standard abbreviations, and emotional tones in academic conversations. This research aims to describe the forms of language politeness used by students, identify influencing factors, and analyze the application of politeness principles in online interactions between students and lecturers as well as among peers. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation of digital interactions on platforms such as WhatsApp class groups, and document analysis in the form of chat screenshots. The findings indicate that students have not fully grasped the ethics of academic digital communication, as shown by weak pragmatic understanding and low awareness of polite language use. Contributing factors include the culture of instant communication and lack of guidance. Thus, integrating digital communication ethics into the curriculum and encouraging lecturers to model polite communication are essential to foster an ethical and professional digital academic environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze social media content related to the use of language and the educational value of Islamic religion. The background of this research is based on the rapid development of social media as a medium of communication that affects the way religious values are conveyed, especially among the younger generation. The method used is quantitative content analysis by collecting data from various social media platforms, then the data is analyzed based on the frequency of occurrence of language themes and religious values. The results of the study show that there are five dominant themes, namely the use of casual language, traditional religious terms, modern slang, moral messages, and easy-to-understand religious teachings. These findings indicate that religious content on social media combines language innovation and tradition preservation to effectively convey messages. In conclusion, the research emphasizes the importance of adapting language styles in religious digital communication so that moral messages and religious teachings can be more easily accepted and understood by today's audience. This research contributes to the understanding of digital religious communication and offers practical recommendations for religious content creators.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of regional languages and standard languages in the film Laskar Pelangi, focusing on the characteristics, functions, and contributions in conveying the message of the story adapted from the novel by Andrea Hirata. The method used is descriptive   qualitative with data collection techniques through direct hearing the dialogue of the characters in the film. The results of the analysis showed that regional languages, especially the Belitung Malay dialect, are used authentically in everyday conversations to strengthen cultural identity, create emotional closeness, and represent the social reality of the local community. Meanwhile, standard Indonesian is used in formal contexts, especially in educational interactions between teachers and students, making it effective in conveying educational and moral messages. The combination of these two languages not only enriches the meaning of the story and reinforces the film's message about the importance of Education, unyielding spirit, and cultural preservation, but also reflects the dynamics of Indonesia's multicultural and bilingual society. Thus, the use of language in this film can be used as a reference in language and literature learning in the world of education, as well as showing the depth of the culture of local communities represented through literary works and films.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the phenomenon of code-switching and code-mixing in digital interactions through the analysis of Deddy Corbuzier's podcast episode with Agnez Monica entitled “VIDI: OM balding, AGNEZ MO LOE CELINGKUH1N⁉️DAH G11L444 YA LOE OM " which was uploaded on March 1, 2025 with a duration of 1 hour 35 minutes 41 seconds. The method used is descriptive qualitative with micro sociolinguistic approach through transcription and thematic analysis based on typology Chaer (situational, metaphorical, and identity tagging). The results found 16 code switching and 21 code mixing, with a predominance of external code switching (Indonesian–English) of 68%. Three main communication strategies were identified, namely: (1) situational switching to adjust the topic of conversation, (2) metaphorical switching as a means of humor and emotional suppression, and (3) identity marking through English vocabulary to strengthen the image of Agnez Monica as a global artist. Further analysis showed that 74% of code switching was done by Agnez Monica to affirm professional identity while bridging audiences across generations. These findings confirm that multilingual practice in podcasts serves not only   as a communication strategy, but also as a means of forming cultural identity in the digital space. This study contributes to the development of media sociolinguistic studies by adapting the Chaer model in the context of new media and offering recommendations on communication strategies for content creators in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the use of vocabulary in the comments column on the upload titled “This Woman celebrates her own birthday” on The Jakarta Keras Instagram account. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with data obtained through the collection of comments from internet users. The Data is then grouped according to the type of vocabulary, such as abbreviations, decapitations, contractions and acronyms. Analyses were conducted to explore lexical and semantic aspects in a digital context. The results showed that the vocabulary in the comments serves not only as a means of communication, but also hints at the views, feelings and stereotypes that develop in society. There is a tension between moral values, empathy, humor and the form of verbal violence reflected in the comments. The choice of words used by internet users reflects a collective identity as well as a particular social position, while showing the relationship between online community norms and freedom of expression. The study highlights the importance of vocabulary analysis in social media as a way to understand the communication patterns of digital society. It is hoped that these findings can deepen the study of social linguistics, pragmatics, and digital media, as well as provide a broader understanding of the use of language in online interactions. In addition, this research could serve as a basis for the development of digital literacy that is more sensitive to language ethics and the impact of communication in virtual public spaces.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the close relationship between language policy and national education in Indonesia as two fundamental components in shaping the direction of national development. The language policy discussed includes aspects of language planning, development, fostering, and protection, which include Indonesian as the national language, regional languages as cultural heritage, and foreign languages as a means of global communication. The implementation of the language policy covers various domains, such as mass media, formal and non-formal education systems, the judicial system and public administration, and international relations. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach strengthened by an in-depth literature study method. This study examines various policy documents, previous research results, government regulations, and the thoughts of language and education experts. The results of the study show that language and education policies are dynamically interrelated in forming the nation's collective identity, strengthening nationalism, and equipping students with language and character competencies that are relevant to the demands of the times. Language policies that are integrated into the education system can improve students' literacy skills, enrich national insight, and foster an attitude of tolerance towards cultural diversity and local languages.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using Islamic story media in improving students' writing skills at a certain educational level. The background of this research is based on the need to develop contextual learning media embedded with religious values to stimulate motivation and writing learning outcomes. The study employed a quantitative approach with an experimental design comparing an experimental group using Islamic story media and a control group using conventional methods. Data were collected through pretest and posttest writing skills assessments, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significant improvement in writing skills scores compared to the control group, with statistically higher posttest mean scores. In conclusion, the use of Islamic story media is effective as a learning medium to enhance students' writing skills and contributes to character development through the integration of religious values. Practical implications and recommendations for further research are also presented.
