Abstract

The use of digital-based Islamic reference sources is increasing to support Tafsir learning. This article aims to analyze students' understanding of the use of digital Islamic reference sources, such as Syamila.net, Waqfeya.net, and Noor Book, as well as their implications in increasing digital literacy in Tafsir learning. This research used a quantitative descriptive approach and was conducted from October to December 2024. Respondents were students from UIN Batusangkar and UIN Imam Bonjol Padang who had completed the Tafsir Tarbawi and Tafsir courses. Data was collected through an online questionnaire using Google Form, which included questions regarding accessibility, frequency of use, and level of understanding of digital reference sources. The research results show that the majority of students have a good level of digital literacy, but there are still challenges in terms of source selectivity and utilization of available search features. In conclusion, although students' understanding of digital Islamic reference sources is sufficient, additional training is needed to optimize their digital literacy skills.

Abstract

Cultural collection information plays a critical role in strengthening public understanding and cultural literacy in museums. However, the Adityawarman Museum in Padang still relies on conventional interpretive methods such as long textual descriptions and static dioramas, which are less communicative and misaligned with the expectations of today’s digital-oriented visitors. This study employs a qualitative case study approach through field observations, interviews, documentation, and literature review to analyze the potential of infographics as a medium for repackaging cultural information. The findings reveal three major insights: (1) infographics effectively simplify complex cultural narratives and enhance knowledge retention, (2) visual formats increase visitor engagement across diverse literacy levels, and (3) infographics support the creation of accessible, inclusive, and adaptive museum learning environments. Nevertheless, implementation challenges persist, including limited human resources, the complexity of cultural materials, and insufficient digital infrastructure. The study concludes that developing infographic-based interpretation in museums requires an integrated strategy involving staff capacity building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the formulation of culturally grounded visual communication guidelines. Infographics offer a promising solution for bridging cultural heritage with the learning needs of contemporary digital audiences.

Abstract

This research discusses the collection needs of UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau library users' perspective. This research aims to describe and analyze the collection needs from the perspective of the library users of UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau library. Research on library users' collection needs is considered important to do, as an evaluation tool and reference for libraries in developing collections. This research uses descriptive research methods with quantitative approach. The research data was collected through questionnaires, observation and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it was revealed that UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau library users expect quality and up-to-date collections, including textbooks, references and journals/series in various forms, both print and electronic. From the data analysis, that the user's need for textbooks, references, and journals in various forms, both printed and electronic, with a variable score of user collection needs reaching 91%. It’s means that the user's need for collections in various types and forms, both printed and non-printed (electronic) is included in the very high category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dimulai dengan gambaran umum mengenai peningkatan eskalasi permintaan informasi dalam era digital kontemporer dan transformasi strategis perpustakaan konvensional menuju model digital sebagai respons terhadap arus informasi global. Tujuan utama dari penulisan ini adalah untuk menganalisis secara ketat peluang strategis paradigma perpustakaan digital dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi yang dinamis dari masyarakat global. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis kajian pustaka (library research). Metodologi yang diterapkan meliputi analisis kritis dan sintesis literatur ilmiah primer dan sekunder yang diterbitkan dalam satu dekade terakhir (2015–2025). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peluang yang ada bersifat multidimensi, didukung oleh integrasi Teori Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) dan Teori Network Society. Dari perspektif DOI, perpustakaan digital unggul karena tingginya keunggulan relatif (efisiensi) dan kesesuaian (compatibility) dengan perilaku pengguna kontemporer. Sebaliknya, kerangka Network Society memosisikan perpustakaan digital sebagai simpul kritis dalam space of flows, memfasilitasi akses informasi tanpa batas geografis dan temporal (timeless time). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa perpustakaan digital berfungsi bukan hanya sebagai inovasi teknologi, melainkan sebagai instrumen sosial krusial yang menopang pembentukan masyarakat berbasis pengetahuan (knowledge society). Kesimpulannya, penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa perpustakaan digital memiliki potensi signifikan untuk menjadi pilar fundamental bagi kesetaraan pengetahuan global dengan menyediakan akses terhadap sumber daya informasi yang inklusif, efisien, dan terdiversifikasi.

Abstract

In an effort to realize the vision of becoming a World Class University, the Universitas Negeri Padang Library has undergone various positive transformations, especially in terms of physical changes in the form of building construction and library locations. The physical transformation was caused by non-physical changes, especially in improving the quality of human resources, namely librarians. This study aims to describe the competence of librarians in supporting the achievement of a World Class University in the Universitas Negeri Padang Library environment. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach, while informants were selected spectrally using the purposive sampling method. Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the core competence of librarians includes the basic abilities and skills that must be possessed by a librarian in order to carry out their duties and responsibilities professionally. This competence covers various aspects, namely management, development, and organizational aspects; (2) professional competence which includes knowledge of information sources, technology, management and research and the ability to implement this knowledge in information services; (3) individual competence includes attitudes and values that support work efficiency, communication skills, a spirit of continuous learning, and readiness to face challenges; and (4) the criteria for librarians state that the librarian profession demands special requirements in accordance with the field of work carried out

Abstract

This research is an initial study on the utilization of Canva AI as an information service tool at the UPT Library of UNAND. This research approach uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was conducted using documentation and interview techniques with research subjects who are active students and visit the UNAND Library twice a week. The research subjects were determined to be 12 students. As research subjects, the students were given the opportunity to evaluate the service video at the UPT Library of UNAND, which was created using the Canva AI application. The steps for determining the subjects were established through the research workflow. The research steps include topic selection, data collection from library sources, data analysis, report preparation, and presentation of research results. The research results show that the use of AI-based videos through Canva helps improve students' understanding of library services and has the potential to increase visit interest. The use of technology combined with Canva and artificial intelligence provides a different touch in the literacy of library patrons. The use of AI in libraries has become an important strategy in supporting adaptive and inclusive information services.

Abstract

Modern libraries are undergoing a significant transformation along with the development of digital technology. This research aims to examine the role of technological innovation in transforming conventional library service systems into digital-based services that are more efficient and adaptive to the needs of modern society. The method used is descriptive qualitative through a literature review that collects data from various scientific sources. The analysis focused on the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing, and their impact on collection management, information access, and user interaction. The results of the study show that technology provides various benefits, such as increased operational efficiency, easier access to information, and more personalized services. However, the application of technology also faces challenges, such as limited infrastructure, data security, and digital skills. To optimize its use, cross-sector collaboration, librarian training, and policies that support digital inclusion are needed. This research confirms that libraries that are adaptive to technology will be better able to meet the needs of people in the information age and act as centers of inclusive and sustainable digital literacy.

Abstract

This study examines the collection development policies and strategies at SMA Negeri 1 Kajen library. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that the collection development process involves analyzing user needs, selecting library materials relevant to the curriculum, and collaborating with related parties. Despite limited budgets and resources, routine collection evaluations are conducted to ensure collection quality. The study concludes that collection development is effective, but there is a need for systematic written policies and long-term plans. Recommendations are directed toward strengthening policies and strategies for the sustainability of the library as a learning resource.

Abstract

In the digital era, libraries are required to provide services that adapt to users' evolving needs. As book collections—both digital and physical—continue to grow, machine learning technology offers an effective approach to delivering personalized book recommendations based on users' preferences or borrowing history. This study focuses on developing a book recommendation system utilizing machine learning algorithms to analyze borrowing behavior patterns, genre preferences, and user interaction history. The system is developed using a hybrid filtering approach, which combines collaborative filtering and content-based filtering. The data used includes book metadata (title, category, and author) as well as users’ borrowing records. Evaluation results indicate good system performance, with a precision score of 80%, recall of 72%, and F1-score of 75%. These findings suggest that the hybrid filtering approach can produce more accurate and relevant book recommendations. Consequently, the system can assist users in finding book collections that align with their interests and preferences, thereby improving efficiency and convenience in locating reading materials within the library.

Abstract

Users in the digital age tend to seek information through online platforms and Google maps is one such platform that allows users to assess anything including public libraries. This research aims to find out what aspects of the library are most dominantly discussed in Jakarta Cikini Library after revitalization. This research uses quantitative content analysis with a descriptive approach. Technique sampling used was purposive sampling by limiting the review data after the revitalization of the library which was calculated from July 2022 to March 2024 as many as 1186 reviews and selecting reviews that include text as many as 667 reviews. From 667 reviews that included the text, a separation per sentence to make it easier to analyze the sub-category aspects, resulting in 1524 review sentences and processed with proportional units and positive, negative and neutral value. The concept used in this research is the ideal library by Sutarno NS with five aspects of the library namely building, collection, equipment and furniture, labor, and services. The analysis found that the building category became the most discussed category by the users with the sub-category of convenience has dominant positive value means that the users consider the library building is comfortable enough in fulfilling wants and needs in conducting library activities.
