Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Community Reading Park (TBM) Mutiara Hati in disaster education for children through local storytelling. The study is motivated by the high disaster risk in Bukittinggi City and the importance of introducing disaster awareness from an early age using child-friendly educational approaches. Local storytelling was used as an educational medium because it delivers disaster-related messages in a simple, engaging, and culturally relevant way for children. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving TBM managers, parents, and children participating in the activities. The findings show that TBM Mutiara Hati functions as a nonformal learning space that supports disaster education through storytelling sessions, folklore reading, educational games, and creative activities based on local narratives. These activities help children understand disaster risks, preparedness attitudes, and environmental awareness. However, the program still faces challenges such as limited learning media and the absence of a structured disaster education curriculum for children. The study concludes that TBM has a strategic role as a child-friendly, community-based disaster education space rooted in local culture.

Abstract

Digital marketing through YouTube has become an important strategy for universities and libraries in the information age. However, visual narratives in promotional videos can create ambiguous public interpretations regarding access rights. This study analyzes the representation of a library’s image and public responses to information gaps in promotional content. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through non-participant observation of the video “Layanan dan Fasilitas Perpustakaan UI” and documentation of audience comments related to accessibility. Data were analyzed using Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis model, covering macrostructure, superstructure, microstructure, social cognition, and social context. The findings show that the video successfully portrays the library as modern, prestigious, and technology-driven. Nevertheless, audience responses revealed concerns about physical access rights that were not clearly explained. The study concludes that digital library promotion should balance visual appeal with transparent access policies to ensure inclusivity and reduce gaps between public expectations and actual service access.

Abstract

This study examines digital information literacy among Generation Z through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The objective is to identify digital information literacy practices, influencing factors, and challenges faced by Generation Z in managing digital information. This study employs the SLR method following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) protocol. Through the identification, screening, and selection process, 10 articles meeting the inclusion criteria were selected from 248 initially identified studies. Data were analyzed thematically by classifying findings into three aspects: digital information literacy practices, influencing factors, and challenges. The findings indicate that Generation Z demonstrates high proficiency in using digital technologies but still faces limitations in critically evaluating information credibility. Digital information literacy is influenced by cognitive biases, social media algorithms, digital social environments, and information overload. The main challenges include low information verification skills, vulnerability to misinformation, and issues related to digital ethics and privacy. This study concludes that being a digital native does not automatically guarantee critical information literacy skills in navigating the contemporary digital environment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perception of Library Science students towards the stigma of the department at UIN Sumatera Utara (UINSU) and the relationship between the stigma of the department and students' perceptions. This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive-correlational design. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire to 80 active students selected using a stratified random sampling technique, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation tests with IBM SPSS Statistics. The results showed that students were aware of the negative stigma towards the Library Science department, but remained proud and had a good understanding of the field. The Pearson correlation test showed a significance value of 0.162 (>0.05), so there was no significant relationship between the stigma of the department and students' perceptions.

Abstract

Digital transformation has encouraged academic libraries to utilize social media as an effective tool for promotion and communication. This study aims to analyze the use of Instagram as a promotional and communication medium at the Library of UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan through its Instagram account, @perpusuingusdur. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using observation of Instagram content published between January and June 2024. Data were collected through observations of posts, communication features, and user interactions on the library’s Instagram account. The findings reveal that Instagram is utilized to promote library collections, services, facilities, and activities through various content formats, including feed posts, reels, and stories. In addition to serving as a promotional platform, Instagram functions as a digital communication channel that facilitates two-way interaction between the library and its users through comments, direct messages, and other interactive features. The use of visual content and short-form videos was found to enhance information attractiveness, particularly among Generation Z users who constitute the majority of university students. This study highlights the significant role of Instagram in increasing library service visibility, expanding information reach, and strengthening user engagement in the academic library environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the digital literacy and use of ChatGPT among Grade XII students of SMAN 81 East Jakarta in Indonesian Language and Literature learning. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving 63 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency distribution and percentages. The findings reveal that all respondents were aware of ChatGPT, with primary uses including learning assistance (30), completing assignments (15), searching for information (10), and exploring new things (8). Usage was frequently reported (40 respondents), with 53 respondents acknowledging that ChatGPT supports their learning. Digital literacy levels varied: 18 respondents demonstrated good understanding, 20 moderate understanding, and 25 limited understanding. Daily gadget use was high (55 respondents), with social media and online platforms as the main information sources. Internet skills were predominantly categorized as not particularly proficient (35 respondents). The study concludes that ChatGPT has become part of students' learning activities, yet its use has not been adequately matched by sufficient digital literacy. Strengthening digital literacy is therefore necessary through learning that promotes critical thinking, information evaluation, and academic integrity in the use of artificial intelligence, enabling students to utilize ChatGPT effectively and responsibly.

Abstract

This study originates from the phenomenon of the rapid development of digital technology, which has significantly transformed patterns of hadith searching in academic environments, particularly within the Hadith Studies Program. The aim of this research is to examine the extent of the utilization of the Maktabah Syamilah application among Hadith Studies students at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, as well as to identify the factors influencing its effectiveness and the challenges encountered in the process of hadith retrieval. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that Maktabah Syamilah is actively utilized by students in searching for hadith texts, tracing sources, and completing academic assignments. These findings indicate that ease of access, offline usability, and the comprehensiveness of its classical Islamic book collection are the main factors driving its use, although several technical obstacles still exist, such as variations in search keywords and differences in book editions. In conclusion, this study emphasizes that strengthening digital hadith literacy should be continuously developed through ongoing training and integration into the learning process in order to optimize students’ academic competence in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies for disseminating religious moderation values implemented by the Library of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Solo as a contemporary religious institution. The focus of the study is not only on collection management but also on the transformative role of the mosque library in responding to social issues through information and media management. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with two library managers, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that the library plays a strategic role through two main mechanisms. First, locality-based literacy programs, including contextual studies of classical Islamic texts, multicultural discussions, and religious film analysis. These programs effectively strengthen values of tolerance, patriotism, and mental well-being. Second, the creation of inclusive discussion spaces such as interfaith youth forums and media literacy classes for women. This study contributes a conceptual model of a mosque library as a third space that integrates preservation functions with social activism. Practically, it offers strategies to strengthen the role of mosque libraries through community-based collection development, librarian capacity building, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The findings are relevant to the implementation of religious moderation initiatives in Indonesia.
