Abstract

Body position and posture are important components in carrying out activities because poor posture and other non-ergonomic elements will interfere with the focus and accuracy of workers which have an impact on production results. Based on observations and interviews with practitioners in the UM Mechanical Engineering Faculty Workshop, there are symptoms and feelings of fatigue in the body when carrying out practicum due to the duration of work for 4 hours and the target achievement of tasks that must be completed. Therefore, this assessment aims to provide an overview of student work postures that increase the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. The methods used in this observation and measurement were the Ovako Work Posture Analysis System (OWAS) and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA). The results of the OWAS score analysis showed a value of 2 in postures 1 and 2 where this attitude is harmful to the musculoskeletal system, so it needs improvement in the future, and a value of 1 in posture 3 where this attitude does not need improvement. Meanwhile, the results of the RULA score analysis showed a value of 6 high categories in postures 1 and 2 which interpret further investigation, immediate changes, as well as a value of 4 medium categories in posture 3 which can interpret further investigation, changes may be needed. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a need to improve work postures by practitioners on tuning machines by changing work positions to ergonomic, stretching periodically, and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Abstract

Non-ergonomic work positions can lead to fatigue and discomfort, increasing the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) and injuries. This study aims to observe and describe work positions during a practical activity of bolt manufacturing among engineering students at the Faculty of Engineering. Work position assessments were conducted using the OWAS and RULA methods. Through direct observation, students were evaluated in two stages of the practical activity: winding and drilling. The results showed that the working positions of students during the practicum tended to be non-ergonomic, with OWAS scores in the threading and drilling divisions being 2 with a hazardous category for all subjects, indicating that the working posture is dangerous and requires future improvements. The RULA scores in the threading division were 6, and in the drilling division, they were 5, both in the high-risk category, suggesting the need for immediate corrective actions and changes. The conclusion of this study is that improvements in non-ergonomic working positions are necessary for industrial engineering students during bolt-making practicum activities to reduce the risk of injury, prevent MSDs, and increase productivity in the work environment.

Abstract

Baby swaddling or baby wrapping is an Indonesian custom practiced on newborn babies with the aim of providing a sense of comfort, warmth, and protection. Swaddling also has a negative impact on the baby's motor development where at the time of swaddling the baby cannot perform movement activities freely and get motion stimulation from the environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of swaddling in newborns and infant health in Indonesia. This research method is to use the literature review method by analyzing, summarizing and comparing one research with another from related journal sources that can be accessed on Google Scholar. From the results of the analysis through literature review, it was found that swaddling has positive and negative effects on infants. Among the positive effects are to help increase the baby's body temperature, improve sleep quality, and make the baby feel comfortable, while the negative effect is to slow down gross motor development in infants.

Abstract

Mother's milk (breast milk) is the best food for infants because it has preeminence and unique nutritional value over other sources of nutrition. Breast milk production (breast milk) may increase or decrease depending on breast gland stimulation, which one of the factors affecting breast production is the nutritional status of the mother, if the maternal diet continues to fail to meet sufficient nutrition, the mammalian glands in the breasts will not work perfectly and affect breast production. People's eating habits are affected by various factors, such as cultural social factors. Generally in rural areas, belief in foods that may otherwise hinder or increase secretion. As for urban dietary options, mothers may also consider taking additional supplement when needed. The study aims to find out the difference in breast-feeding consumption in rural and urban areas. The research design used is qualitative research using a string of phenomena. Research is conducted using methods of in-depth interviews of informants. Studies indicate that there is a variation in the type of additional intake consumed. In cities it is more likely to take supplements, vitamins and breast milk-stimulating drink, while in the countryside it eats natural intake, such as herbs and vegetables.

Abstract

Reproductive health includes physical, social, and mental conditions related to the reproductive system and functions, not just freedom from disease and disability. In some regions in Indonesia, there are many myths that are popular in the community, especially regarding menstruation. One myth that is still circulating is the prohibition of shampooing during menstruation. People who believe in this myth are four times more likely to experience personal hygiene problems during menstruation than those who do not believe in it. This article uses the literature review method to compile a health anthropology view of the myth of the prohibition of shampooing during menstruation. The results show that this myth is still believed by many people, even though it is not true. Women still need to maintain personal hygiene including hair during menstruation because the skin becomes oilier and sweatier, increasing the risk of dandruff and other microorganisms. Spreading myths can affect adolescents' personal hygiene. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve adolescents' understanding of hygiene culture and avoid unwarranted beliefs that can negatively affect genitalia health and overall reproductive health by integrating comprehensive health education and utilizing digital technology to access accurate or reliable information.

Abstract

The tradition of smoking mothers and babies remains a cultural practice in Indonesia. The tradition of smoking is a 40-day custom of heating or smoking newborn babies with their mothers using smoke from burning coals. This practice is carried out with the hope that the baby will grow stronger and accelerate the mother's postnatal recovery. The smoking tradition varies greatly depending on the culture in each region, such as the Tatobi, Marapi, Mandadang, Bedaring, and Sei traditions. The objective of this literature study is to analyze the relationship between the implementation of the tradition of smoking mothers and babies in Indonesia and the health of both mother and baby. This study was conducted through a literature review method using eight journal articles obtained from the Google Scholar database published between 2013 and 2022. The study findings indicate that over time, smoking traditions are considered irrelevant to health because smoking on mothers and babies can increase the risk of respiratory disorders and lung function impairment, such as ARI. Minister of Health Regulation number 1077/MENKES/PER/V/2011 states that indoor air pollution that exceeds requirements can be caused by incomplete combustion pollutants produced from biomass fuels.

Abstract

One of the Food and Beverage industry sectors, namely Janus Coffee and Roastery located in Batu City, has a risk of hazards that often occur in its operational activities, starting from the process of preparing tools and raw materials to serving to customers. These risks include fatigue, minor to severe injuries, and even burns due to exposure to hot objects during the product manufacturing stage. This study aimed to identify, analyze, and assess the risk of hazards in the operations of Janus Coffee and Roastery in Batu City using the HIRADC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control) method. The object of research was all stages of the work process at Janus Cafe. The results of the analysis showed that there were 32 risks in the process of making raw materials to serve to customers with 4 high risk level risks, 17 medium risk level risks and 11 low risk level risks. Thus, through the existing risk factors, control efforts will be made, such as installing a cooker hood above the stove to suck hot steam to make work safety SOPs at the risk of hazards that often occur.
