Abstract

Postpartum, or the postpartum period, is the period after childbirth that lasts for 6 weeks during which the mother's body recovers and the reproductive organs return to normal. It is important for healthcare professionals, especially midwives, to monitor postpartum mothers carefully as suboptimal implementation can lead to problems and complications such as puerperal sepsis. Walik dadah massage is a practice long recognized in Indonesian culture, especially among postpartum mothers. This study explores the benefits, factors influencing the continuity of the tradition, and its impact on the health of postpartum mothers, with a focus on the Javanese cultural perspective From the literature analysis conducted, the walik dadah tradition is considered beneficial in restoring the position of the uterus, stopping postpartum bleeding, and preventing subsequent pregnancies. However, there are also negative impacts such as unwanted bleeding and uterine contractions that can affect postpartum maternal health. Factors influencing the continuity of this tradition include family support, an environment steeped in tradition, habits, beliefs, and community knowledge Although this tradition has become part of cultural identity, it is important to consider its impact on health and make informed decisions based on available medical knowledge. In this context, it is important for healthcare professionals to provide information and understanding to the community about the positive and negative impacts of the traditional practices they adhere to, thereby reducing the risk of health problems that may arise during the postpartum period.

Abstract

Every pregnant woman needs a balanced and complete nutritional intake for the health of the mother and fetus. However, a culture of dietary restrictions can limit the intake of important nutrients. This study aims to analyze the influence of cultural dietary restrictions on the nutritional status of pregnant women. This research uses a literature review method by analyzing various scientific sources, such as research journals, scientific articles and official reports. Based on literature analysis, it was found that the culture of food taboos has a significant influence on the nutritional status of pregnant women in Indonesia. Several types of food that are often taboo for pregnant women in Indonesia include fish, meat, eggs, pineapple and coffee. This taboo is based on various beliefs and myths that have no scientific basis. This belief can cause pregnant women to lack important nutrients, which can have fatal consequences for the health of the mother and fetus. Cultural dietary restrictions are one of the factors that can influence the nutritional status of pregnant women in Indonesia. Certain food restrictions can limit the intake of important nutrients for pregnant women, thereby increasing the risk of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), anemia, and various other pregnancy complications. Health workers can make several efforts, such as increasing knowledge through counseling and providing the public with the best possible understanding of the importance of consuming sufficient amounts of nutritious food, especially protein consumption, so that optimal nutritional status for pregnant women can be realized.

Abstract

Sexual violence against children is a major concern for society. In 2022, 9,588 incidents of sexual violence against early childhood were recorded. This shows that early childhood is a group that is vulnerable to sexual violence. Sex education is an important part of early childhood development. However, many parents avoid this topic with their children because it is taboo, hindering early childhood sex education. Therefore, this study aims to find out the differences in perceptions or taboo views of parents regarding sex education and the reasons it hinders early childhood sex education. This study uses a literature review approach by analyzing 11 articles that discuss parents' taboo views on sex education in early childhood. Based on the results of the analysis, most parents consider sex education important, but not urgent, feel uncomfortable and lack a clear understanding of how to convey sex education to children, consider sex to be equivalent to teaching children about sexual behavior. Therefore, efforts need to be made to improve parents' understanding of sex education in preschool children. Parents need to understand that sex education doesn’t teach children about having sex, but helps children understand their bodies, gender identity, and healthy behavior depending on their age.

Abstract

"The work environment and individual work can cause musculoskeletal disorders. These disorders occur in body structures such as muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, nerves, bones, and the local blood circulation system. In Indonesia, the prevalence of musculoskeletal diseases has reached 7.9% (Riskesdas, 2018). Stress and musculoskeletal disorders are the main causes of work-related illnesses. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress and musculoskeletal disorders in workers using a systematic literature review method. Secondary data originating from PubMed were utilized, employing the keywords 'MSDs', 'Work Stress', and 'worker' with "AND" as the Boolean operator. Nine articles meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were identified. The results of the literature review reveal a high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in various work sectors. These disorders are multifactorial, with work stress being a significant factor. The research findings clearly establish a relationship between work stress and musculoskeletal disorders. Recognizing risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders and identifying factors that cause work stress in workers are crucial steps for prevention. This can be achieved through regular evaluation of fatigue and psychological counseling for each worker, providing opportunities for workers to participate in education and training programs, and supporting communication between workers and management to actively resolve worker conflicts."

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional issue in children caused by prolonged inadequate nutrient intake due to inappropriate feeding that does not meet nutritional needs. According to data from the 2018 Basic Health Research, the national prevalence of stunting stands at 30.8%, with 11.5% categorized as severely stunted and 19.3% as stunted. Socio-cultural aspects influence health conditions, particularly nutritional fulfillment. The purpose of this study is to review previous studies related to the socio-cultural factors affecting the incidence of stunting in children in Indonesia. The method used in this research is qualitative, with several literature pieces targeting mothers and infants as research subjects in various regions in Indonesia. This study was conducted by searching through Google Scholar and PubMed with the keywords "social," "culture," "stunting," and "children," resulting in 10 journals as samples in this research. The findings of this study are then categorized into two main factors influencing the incidence of stunting social and cultural factors. Social factors include economic level, parental education, and incomplete vaccinations. Cultural factors include habits, taboos, dietary recommendations for mothers and children, and specific cultural practices passed down through generations in each family.
