Abstract

Sufism holds a strategic position in shaping the Islamic character of the Nusantara community one that is moderate, tolerant, and civil. This article provides a comparative study of the thoughts of three prominent Nusantara scholars: Syekh Arsyad al-Banjari, Syekh Nawawi al-Bantani, and KH. Hasyim Asy’ari within the framework of Ahlussunnah wal Jama‘ah (Aswaja). The study employs a literature-based approach by examining primary works as well as relevant secondary sources. The findings reveal that all three scholars regard Sufism as a dimension that perfects the Sharia, characterized by an ethical-moral orientation (tasawwuf akhlaqi) that emphasizes purification of the soul, cultivation of proper conduct, and integration of Sharia, ethics, and spiritual practice. Syekh Arsyad al-Banjari highlights soul purification grounded in adherence to Sharia; Syekh Nawawi al-Bantani stresses a Sufism centered on ihsani ethics and social responsibility; while KH. Hasyim Asy’ari positions Sufism as the moral foundation of santri education, especially within pesantren traditions. Comparatively, the three scholars share a convergent orientation toward religious moderation, rejection of extreme forms of Sufism, and reinforcement of social ethics. Their ideas remain highly relevant in addressing contemporary challenges such as moral degradation, digital disruption, radicalism, and mental health issues. Thus, the Sufi legacy of Nusantara scholars within the Aswaja perspective carries not only historical value but also serves as a transformative paradigm for modern Islamic spirituality and education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internalization of Emotional Spiritual Quotient (ESQ) values in building entrepreneurial character and work ethic among Sasirangan MSME entrepreneurs in South Kalimantan. The study is based on the assumption that entrepreneurial success is not only determined by technical and managerial competencies, but also by emotional intelligence, spiritual awareness, and cultural values that shape business behavior. The internalization of ESQ values is considered essential in strengthening entrepreneurial resilience, integrity, discipline, creativity, and ethical work orientation among local entrepreneurs engaged in the Sasirangan industry as a cultural-based creative economy sector. This research employs a qualitative approach using the Library Research method. Data were collected from scientific journals, books, theses, dissertations, and academic documents related to ESQ, Islamic entrepreneurship, work ethic, Banjar culture, and the development of Sasirangan MSMEs. The collected data were analyzed through content analysis to identify conceptual patterns and relationships between emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, entrepreneurial character, and work ethic. The findings reveal that the internalization of ESQ values significantly contributes to the formation of entrepreneurial character through honesty, responsibility, discipline, emotional control, creativity, and social awareness. Furthermore, spiritual intelligence strengthens the Islamic work ethic by encouraging entrepreneurs to perceive work as a form of worship, thereby increasing motivation, perseverance, and professional integrity. Banjar cultural values such as kayuh baimbai also reinforce cooperation, solidarity, and collective responsibility among Sasirangan entrepreneurs. The novelty of this study lies in its integrative analysis of ESQ values, Islamic spirituality, and Banjar local culture in shaping entrepreneurial character and work ethic within the context of Sasirangan MSMEs. This research also offers a conceptual contribution to Islamic entrepreneurship studies by emphasizing the importance of emotional-spiritual intelligence and local wisdom as socio-cultural capital for sustainable creative economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in developing students’ character at SMP Negeri 8 Samarinda using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. This research employed a qualitative approach with an evaluative research design. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and students as research subjects. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that in the context aspect, PAI learning had been aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum and students’ character development needs through various religious habituation activities at school. In the input aspect, the learning process was supported by learning tools, varied teaching methods, digital learning media, and adequate teacher competence, although there were still limitations in learning facilities and infrastructure. In the process aspect, learning activities were carried out actively and interactively through discussions, question-and-answer sessions, presentations, worship practices, and the habituation of character values in daily learning activities. Meanwhile, in the product aspect, PAI learning had a positive impact on students’ character development, particularly in religious attitudes, discipline, responsibility, and politeness. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that Islamic Religious Education learning at SMP Negeri 8 Samarinda has been implemented quite effectively in supporting students’ character development based on the CIPP evaluation model. However, improvements are still needed in learning facilities, equal student participation, and sustainable character development programs.

The findings reveal that Baiman serves as the foundation of spiritual and theological development, Bauntung represents educational productivity and competence, Batuah reflects beneficial character and social contribution, while Baadab embodies ethical and moral excellence. These values are not merely cultural expressions; rather, they constitute a comprehensive framework of Islamic educational thought that supports the holistic development of Qur’anic memorizers. The study further demonstrates that the integration of Banjar local wisdom into tahfidz education contributes to strengthening religious identity, character formation, and social responsibility. The novelty of this research lies in reconstructing Banjar cultural values as a conceptual framework of Islamic educational thought while positioning them as a foundational paradigm for contemporary Qur’anic memorization education

Abstract

Human resource management in schools determines the effectiveness of the learning process, one of which is through the distribution of teaching tasks. Placing teachers who do not align with their educational background and expertise can reduce the quality of teaching and organizational performance. This study aims to examine the ideal distribution of teaching tasks based on teacher competency and qualifications. The method used is a literature review analyzing various relevant educational management concepts and theories. The results of the study indicate that effective distribution of tasks must be based on appropriate disciplines, mastery of professional and pedagogical competencies, and a proportional workload analysis. Implementing this principle requires accurate data support, policy transparency, and active teacher participation. The implications of these findings emphasize the importance of careful planning and a continuous evaluation system to ensure that each task is assigned to the most appropriate personnel, thereby improving the quality of learning and overall school performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of sound symbols used to mark iftar time in Banjar society through the perspective of living hadith, with particular attention to the interaction between Islam, local tradition, and modernity. The research investigates how prophetic teachings concerning the determination of iftar time have been interpreted, embodied, and transformed through different auditory symbols, ranging from direct observation of sunset, the adhan, and the beduk to contemporary digital notifications. This study employs a qualitative library research method utilizing classical hadith collections, works of Islamic scholarship, living hadith studies, sociological analyses of religion, and contemporary literature on digital religiosity. The findings reveal that the transformation of sound symbols does not alter the normative foundation of the prophetic tradition but reflects a dynamic process of adaptation to changing socio-cultural and technological contexts. In Banjar society, the beduk functions not only as an auditory marker of iftar but also as a symbol of collective memory, cultural identity, and religious education. The transition toward digital notifications demonstrates the continuing relevance of prophetic teachings in contemporary Muslim life. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of living hadith theory, sound symbolism, Banjar Islamic culture, and modern digital religiosity to explain how religious traditions maintain continuity while simultaneously accommodating cultural and technological transformations
