Abstract

Diorama media is one of the learning facilities that can be used effectively in learning IPAS at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level. This medium has the advantage of presenting abstract concepts, such as the water cycle, in be more concrete and easier-to-understand way for students through three-dimensional visualization. The primary purpose of this study is to observe changes in students' understanding of water cycle aterials before and after the use of diorama media. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method that applies to the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design.  All students of class V MI, As Salam Karangawen, went through a total sampling technique. Data was collected using written tests in the form of pretests and posttests to measure the improvement of learning outcomes, observations to see the process and involvement of students in learning, and documentation as supporting data. The results of the study show two main findings. First, the use of diorama media has proven to be effective in improving student learning outcomes in science subjects. This is proven by the average N-Gain obtained, which is 0.6764 or the equivalent of 67. 64%. Based on the N-Gain score interpretation table, this value is in the range of 56-75% which is included in the ”fairly effective” category . Second, this media can create more meaningful learning, where students can relate the concepts learned to real phenomena in daily life.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Tembang Bocah Banyumasan into the PGMI curriculum at UIN Saizu Purwokerto as a decolonizing intervention in music education. In the PGMI context, the longstanding dominance of Western music has limited pre-service teachers’ exposure to local musical knowledge, weakened cultural rootedness, and produced learning practices that are insufficiently aligned with Indonesia’s cultural diversity. The paper aims to examine how this integration unfolds through three key phases: critical awareness, reappropriation, and emancipation and knowledge production, where students create and perform works that integrate local culture, Islamic values, and environmental awareness. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, analyzing curriculum structure, weekly learning stages, and empirical findings from student engagement. The results indicate that integrating Tembang Bocah Banyumasan fosters cultural identity, critical thinking, and creativity among PGMI students, while also contributing to a more inclusive, contextually relevant curriculum for elementary schools. Challenges, such as limited access to traditional instruments, were addressed through digital tools and local artist collaborations, ensuring a meaningful and adaptable learning experience. The findings suggest that this integration not only decolonizes music education but also bridges the gap between university and elementary school curricula, offering a model for inclusive and culturally responsive teaching.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires elementary schools to provide learning experiences that foster critical thinking skills from an early age. However, instructional practices in many elementary classrooms are still dominated by teacher-centered approaches, which limit student engagement and opportunities for higher-order thinking. This study aims to develop and validate a technology-based cooperative learning model that aligns with the characteristics of elementary school students and is oriented toward enhancing critical thinking skills. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, consisting of a preliminary study, model design, expert validation, revision, and a limited field trial involving fifth-grade students. The developed model integrates cooperative learning strategies, specifically Think-Pair-Share and Jigsaw, supported by digital technologies such as Google Classroom, Padlet, and Kahoot, to facilitate collaboration, reflective discussion, and formative assessment. Research instruments included expert validation sheets, observation checklists, and critical thinking skills tests. The validation results indicate that the developed model is highly valid and feasible for implementation. The field trial results demonstrate increased student engagement, improved conceptual understanding, and higher critical thinking scores compared to previous instructional conditions. These findings suggest that the technology-based cooperative learning model has strong potential to support the development of critical thinking skills in elementary education and provides a practical framework for teachers to integrate technology into classroom instruction.

Abstract

This study examines publication trends and thematic developments in research on Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and Science Process Skills (SPS) in elementary science education. A bibliometric approach was employed to analyze Scopus-indexed publications from 1992 to 2023, using title, abstract, and keyword searches with queries such as ("Higher Order Thinking Skills" AND "Science Process Skills" AND "elementary science education"). The data were processed using the Bibliometrix package and BiblioShiny interface in RStudio to map growth patterns, identify influential sources, leading countries, and emerging research themes related to the integration of HOTS and SPS. The results show a significant increase in publications since 2014, with 322 documents identified. The Journal of Physics: Conference Series emerged as the leading source, while Indonesia and Malaysia were the top contributing countries. Thematic analysis revealed dominant clusters around inquiry learning, critical thinking, and digital assessment, with a noticeable shift towards applied instructional and assessment models that combine HOTS and SPS. This reflects the growing alignment of research with 21st-century education reforms emphasizing inquiry-based and problem-solving skills. The findings suggest a strong integration of HOTS and SPS in science education, but also highlight gaps in long-term classroom implementation, particularly in elementary school contexts. This study underscores the need for curriculum frameworks and teacher professional development programs focused on effectively integrating HOTS and SPS into elementary science education
